37 activities to do with your family on your front porch

We often take for granted a part of our home that we pass through day in and day out. What part is that? It’s your front porch. If you have a medium to large front porch, think of it as an extension of your home where you can spend time with your family. You may be wondering what you could do on your porch.

I found it easy to come up with a bunch of easy family activities you could do on your porch with your son, daughter, spouse, mom, dad, grandparent, neighbor, or friend. Now, don’t laugh when you read this list. Some activities will be more attractive to you than others. Some may even bring back memories of when you were a child.

Here are the first 37 things that came to mind, but I didn’t stop there. I have many more in my next articles. Some of these activities will work better if you have a small table on your porch. Keep in mind that the weather and lighting on your porch play a role in some of these activities.

Let’s go for it.

  1. Play a game of checkers, chess, cards, or any board game like scrabble or monopoly. They are all fun front porch classics.
  2. Read stories aloud to each other.
  3. Listen to some mysteries on the vintage radio when it’s dark outside.
  4. Write birthday cards for the next month.
  5. Work on a puzzle book together.
  6. Read the newspaper with your love.
  7. Listen to an audiobook together, maybe one chapter at a time.
  8. Plant an herb garden to place on your railing ledge.
  9. Make loop handles. Do you remember that as a child?
  10. Rock a baby in your porch rocker (you need a baby for this one!).
  11. Learn a foreign language together.
  12. Blow bubbles with a child. You can even make the bubble solution yourself.
  13. Draw with sidewalk chalk.
  14. Install a ceiling fan on your porch (a great project for an informed parent to teach an older child).
  15. Play jacks, tiddlywinks, or marbles (these can be fun, really!).
  16. Magic Tricks
  17. He plays a keyboard or guitar and sings some songs.
  18. Listen to hockey, basketball, baseball or soccer on your radio.
  19. Do a task together.
  20. Set up your telescope and identify stars, planets and UFOs.
  21. Browse the Internet, update your blog, answer questions in a forum.
  22. Talk on the phone with your grandmother or grandfather.
  23. Pour out your heart to each other on the porch swing.
  24. Fold the clothes. Folding clothes doesn’t have to be boring!
  25. Get yourself a cool paint by number and get going.
  26. Brainstorm ways to spruce up your porch to make it even more enjoyable.
  27. Hang on a porch swing with a friend.
  28. Identify birds and keep a birding journal.
  29. Assemble a puzzle. Make this into something that is easily transported around the house.
  30. Classify and organize your recipes.
  31. Cut out coupons, articles, or photos from newspapers and magazines.
  32. Make a stepping stone from a store-bought kit. Some include bright colored gems and letter templates to personalize your step.
  33. Build a wind chime and hang it on your porch.
  34. Paint small decorative birdhouses to decorate your porch.
  35. Host a book club meeting on your porch, complete with a few snacks like lemonade, cookies from the fridge, and popcorn.
  36. Get out your sketch pad and draw a picture of your front porch to hang in your house.
  37. Decorate your front door with a wreath, a basket, or some beautiful fresh, bright paint.

Your porch is a perfect little slice of heaven that you might be overlooking. It’s a great place to spend time outdoors with someone you love or alone. Even in this fancy, high-tech world where we’re constantly entertained by TV, videos, and game boxes, sometimes going back to basics is quite refreshing. Come up with your own reasons to spend time on your own front porch with your family. It could also improve the rest of your life.

Look for future articles from me with more fun things to do on your front porch.

How to deal with trichomoniasis – Trichomonas vaginalis – The Wise Woman Way

“Herbal remedies for trichomonas are among the least impressive home remedies. None are more than 50 percent effective.” (1)

Trich is short for trichomonas: a four-tailed, unicellular parasitic protozoan. About five million new cases of trichomoniasis are diagnosed in the United States each year.

Trichomoniasis is normally present in a woman’s vagina, intestines, and rectum without causing problems. Trich is sensitive to pH. When the vagina becomes alkaline, trich overwhelms the healthy flora and causes symptoms. A trich infection, or overgrowth, is difficult to diagnose (without a microscope) and even more difficult to kill (without poisons).

Trichomoniasis is an STD and can be spread by intimate contact. But sex is not required; Resistant trichomoniasis can live in warm, moist places like toilet seats, towels, underwear, and bathing suits.

In women, symptoms of trichomoniasis infection include a thin, frothy, itchy vaginal discharge that is yellowish-green or gray in color and has a foul or fishy odor. Infected men often have no symptoms.

Trichomoniasis can pass from the vagina to the urethra and up into the bladder, causing a urinary tract infection. Conversely, if you have a UTI that doesn’t respond to treatment, it could be trichomoniasis; Check it out.

The homeopathic remedy for women with itchy green vaginal discharge is Sepia.

In my experience, herbs that can coat and dry out the trichomonas kill them just as well as with poisons, whether herbal or pharmaceutical.

powdered charcoal, the type used against poisoning, is so fine that it suffocates the parasite; it also soils everything from underwear to sheets and towels.

oak bark is a first class antimicrobial and drying agent; Sitz baths are a classic way of using oak.

Ground medicinal claysuch kaolin, can be used to dry and coat the vagina and trichomoniasis, in the same way, slippery elm bark powder.

The easiest way to use any of these herbs is to buy them already in powder and capsule form. If 4 to 6 capsules are placed deep inside the vagina, against and behind the cervix, body heat and vaginal moisture will dissolve them, releasing the agent they contain. For best results, repeat at least once a day for two to three weeks.

the alkaloid berberine sulfate – found in tinctures of the roots of barberry (Berberine vulgaris), gold fiber (Coptis greenlandica), gold seal (Hydrastis canadensis), Oregon grape (Berberis repens) and yellow root (Xanthorrhiza simplicissima) – is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of – and induces morphological changes in – trichomes in the laboratory and in the field. A study in India found a trichomonas-free rate of 90% in the berberine sulfate group and 95% in the drug group; at the one-month follow-up, 83% of the berberine group and 90% of the drug group were still free of trichomoniasis. The study authors commented on the lack of side effects in those who received berberine. (2) The anti-trichomoniasis dose of any berberine-rich tincture is 10 to 20 drops several times a day for 3 to 4 weeks.

several weeks of hysterical hygiene are necessary when it comes to a trichomoniasis infection. Strip your bed and bathroom and wash everything, using bleach or vinegar. Wash your hands after grooming. Clean the toilet seat with diluted bleach. Remember, cheating is hard to kill and persist.

The standard treatment for trichomoniasis infection is metronidazole (Flagyl), a “highly toxic drug that is often ineffective due to resistance, particularly by trichomonas …”(3) flagyl it is a very strong antibiotic; It is not safe for pregnant or lactating women, or anyone with a blood disease, peptic ulcer, or central nervous system disorder. Side effects (decreased white blood cells (which fight infection), nausea/vomiting, headache, diarrhea, joint pain, hot flashes, metallic taste in the mouth, and numbness in extremities) are common and worsen with use. alcohol consumption. vinegar and mayonnaise. coltrimazole it is a milder drug with fewer side effects; it has a sixty percent cure rate against trichomoniasis infections.

Herbalist and healer Joy Gardner says that regular use of spermicidal jelly can help prevent trichomoniasis infections.

European herbalists, including my friend Rina Nissim, swear by essential oils to kill all kinds of vaginal infections. Valerie Ann Worwood suggests a mixture of 5 drops of tea tree essential oil, 4 drops of cypress essential oil, 8 drops of lavender essential oil, and 3 drops of red thyme essential oil to eliminate trichomoniasis. Of this mixture, use four drops diluted in two cups of water, or a cup of yogurt, or a teaspoon of olive oil and apply inside the vagina.

Ten ways to strengthen your reading habit

Most people would like to read more. It is a fun and enlightening activity. It can help us be more informed and successful. However, it is an activity in which many people do not get very involved. According to the 1999 National Survey of Home Education, 50% of the US population age 25 and older read a newspaper at least once a week, read one or more magazines regularly, and have read a book in the past 6 months . What does this mean? It means that 50% of the population has not read a book in the last six months! Looking at the other end of the spectrum, research shows that if you read ten books a year, you are in the top percentage of all people as readers. In short, it doesn’t take much to be a good reader, but we do need to know how to get started. Here are ten suggestions to help you strengthen your reading habit: ways to find and make more time to read. 1. Always have a book nearby. Don’t go anywhere without reading material. Keep magazines or stories in your bathroom. Always have something in your summary to read. Keep a book(s) by your bed. Having things available makes it easier to steal moments that would otherwise be lost. 2. Set a reading goal. Determine how much time you want to spend reading or how many books you want to read over time. Your goal could be one book a month, one a week, or it could be reading 30 minutes a day. Start with something possible but still a stretch. As you build your habit, you can set higher goals. Setting a goal is the first step to read more. 3. Keep a record. Keep a list of the books you have read or keep track of how long you read each day. You can keep these lists in your diary or calendar. My son’s record is in our refrigerator. My list and registration are kept on my computer. No matter where you keep it, just do it. 4. Keep a list. Make a list of things you want to read in the future. Ask your friends and colleagues what they are reading. Watch for recommendations in the newspaper and magazines. Once you start looking for good books, you’ll find them everywhere. This is a great way to keep your enthusiasm up. Knowing what good things you want to read will reinforce your reading habit. 5. Turn off the television. Many people say they just don’t have enough time. Television is one of our biggest consumers of time. Make your television viewing more mindful and less habitual. There is nothing wrong with watching TV shows that you really enjoy. Where time is wasted is turning it on and scanning to find “something to see”. Those are the times to turn it off and pick up your book! 6. Listen when you can’t read. Use your commute and time in the car to listen! There are excellent audio versions of all kinds of books. Whether you want to “read” fiction, the latest self-help book, or diet, it’s probably available on tape. Don’t lock yourself into the idea that you have to read it: listening to the book still gives you the experience, ideas, and imagination that reading a book can. 7. Join a book group or book club. Reading groups typically meet once a month to discuss a book they have all decided to read. Committing to the group provides a little more impetus to finish the book and gives you a great forum for discussion and socializing around the book’s themes. 8. Visit the library or bookstore often. You have your list, right? That way you’ll have some ideas of what you’re looking for when you walk in. But there is more to be gained by walking through the places where the books reside than simply making a transaction. Take the time to browse! Let your eyes find things of interest. Let serendipity happen. Browsing will feed your mental need to read and give you lots of new things to read. 9. Build your own strategy. Decide when reading fits into your schedule. Some people read first thing in the morning, others before bed. Some decide to read while having lunch. And there is more to his strategy than just timing. Make your own decisions about reading. It’s okay to read more than one book at a time. It’s okay to stop reading something before you’re done if you’re not interested. It’s okay to flip through the book, get what you want or need, without reading every page. Figure out what works best for you, develop your own beliefs and ideas, then make them work for you. 10. Drop everything and read. My son’s fourth grade class has DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time. When the teacher asks for it, that’s what they do. Read now. That is my last advice to you. Have to. Just start. Make it a time DEAR. Now.

Air Supply in Uncasville, CT 7/25/07 – One Year Summary

Uncasville, CT: Air supply returns to Mohegan Sun’s Cabaret Room. Nothing risked, nothing gained

Four Air Supply concerts in four days. I had every intention of staying the course and writing my first Air Supply review after the first show at the Cabaret Room on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the fun sneaks in and there isn’t much time to sit back, reflect, and plan the words to describe the show and events. Now, back from Mohegan Sun, I can put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard and produce what many have been asking me for this past week. But before I write my week’s programs (see next review), let me go back a year.

Last August, I began my journey with Air Supply at Mohegan Sun. It was the first time I had seen them since I was a teenager and I thought, ‘hey, I love Air Supply and what a chance to see them one more time!’ So I got my ticket to the show on August 4th (a birthday present for myself) and was able to sit right up front, just 2 feet away from the one and only Russell Hitchcock. I’m not sure I can describe how exciting it was to see Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock! I couldn’t believe I was actually SINGING with Russell! Well, okay, not really WITH him, but at the same time, just an arm’s length away. He was delighted. I didn’t expect it to be a great show and I certainly never expected to be sitting so close to my favorite band.

Who was more surprised than me when the couple walked offstage, onto the showroom floor and slowly made their way through the audience, singing, playing, smiling, posing and bringing to life the possibilities that so many had only seen before? dreamed of? He was amazed when Russell stopped by tables, took people’s cameras and handed them to others so they could take photos with their owners. He was in shock that so many stopped him and gave him hugs and kisses. And he was determined that as he headed toward me (well, not really toward me), as he ran onto the stage to finish the song, I would NOT let him go without my own once-in-a-lifetime experience. hug! The fastest hug in history turned into the longest hug in memory, and I was completely over the moon.

The show went on and Graham then mentioned signing autographs, but the way he said it made me question the truth. Would it really be possible for them to stay and meet the fans? He had never heard of such a thing. In order not to miss out on this great opportunity, I was in the showroom for about 15 minutes, but saw nothing to make me think they would stick around for this meeting. So I left the showroom and headed straight to the box office to try and get a ticket for the next night’s show. SOLD OUT. There were never two more depressing words in my life.

I drove home, reliving my Russell Hitchcock hug, calling out to anyone who might care even a little bit about the hug I’d just received. Thank God for not judging the sisters! On my way home 2 hours away in Boston, I went online and found out as much as I could about Air Supply because I had to try to see them again one day.

My dream of seeing Air Supply again ‘one day’ turned into a year full of concerts, taking every opportunity to see them, traveling to new destinations, meeting other ‘Airheads’ and making lifelong friendships. For those who would think that traveling from city to city to see a band is a bit crazy or ‘fan’, I assure you it’s not just about ‘the band’. The band is the community that unites us socially. We come to the shows, take photos and say hello during the Meet and Greet. We do this because we’re all having a good time, we’re having fun, and we’re making new memories. And last time I checked, Air Supply didn’t have a bad show, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that we want to come and have more fun with them and our friends!

The past year has taken me to 8 states plus Canada. I’ve seen places I never thought I’d visit, met people I might never have said hello to, and experienced ups and downs, all in the name of living life to the fullest. To say that I have had the time of my life is an understatement and I look forward to continuing this journey with friends old and new.

I must admit that the highlight of last year was my interview with Graham Russell when he was launching The Future. Many people have asked me how I was able to get the interview and the simple truth is that I asked him. I approached Graham and told him that I subscribe to the “nothing risked, nothing gained” theory. Sure, he looked at me a little weird as if I was going to ask him to grant me some weird request, but then I asked him if he would consider letting me interview him for The Future. It took about 2 seconds for him to say that he would absolutely do it and I had the amazing opportunity to interview him in Niagara Falls. I have since told this story to many people and am amazed that such a simple ‘theory’ can be so powerful in the hands and minds of others. It almost seems to be a mantra that people repeat, and through their own journeys many others have used these words to support their own courage and seek strength.

Air Supply has given us great gifts in life through their music, and today they share a little piece of themselves every time we come to a show. The one thing Air Supply does, and does well, is make every Air Supply experience as personal as possible. It really is about ‘you’. Air Supply sings of love, life and promise. They go out into the audience, just to be with you. And in the end, if you are lucky, you have the opportunity to meet them in a Meet & Greet, designed especially for you. Air Supply connects with the audience, but what they’re really doing is making a personal connection with you. It’s no wonder that those who go to Air Supply shows leave wanting more, and go out of their way to return to another one.

My journey with Air Supply has been one worth writing about. Some say I should write a book and I laugh and say you can read everything on the blogs I write! Russell, Graham, Jed, Jonni and Mike have been supportive and respectful and I have to thank them. Each show brings me new challenges, and creatively, it’s not always easy to write something new. I try to share my experiences with others by writing good reviews, taking new photos and posting quality video clips whenever I can. Some days I just want to sit back and enjoy the show, and then I’m like, ‘oh, I need to remember to put that in my review!’

In each of my reviews, I always make sure to thank Russell, Graham, Jed, Jonni, Mike, Sparky, Brett, Moe, Nate, and Mark. They are the reason we keep coming to concerts and they are the reason we tell our friends, colleagues and anyone who wants to listen why they should get a credit card and come to a concert. We all know that they are going to have a great time, and they never disappoint us.

Through the good and the bad, the ups and downs, this last year has been fabulous and I wouldn’t change it for the world. No regrets and no missed opportunities. Here are more shows, more good times and making new friends. And oh yes… go to a show!!!

The Three Biggest Mistakes Pool Owners Make When Installing an Oval Pool

Without wasting time, let’s just get down to business.

Mistake #1: Not Positioning the Side Braces Correctly

There are so many different styles of oval pools that it’s hard to be specific here, but in most cases, following the instructions every step of the way will pay off.

Your most important goals are to place all the keys and square them up before you start digging. Dig what you need, without digging too much. The less the back is filled, the better.

The oval pool side brackets must be perfectly level, front and back. They should all be square from side to side and on one side they should all be touching a string line. Only then should the dirt around them be repackaged.

An oval pool starts to look really weird when the braces on one side are not at right angles to the braces on the opposite side. It starts to look even more fun when one side isn’t straight, like when it rests flush on a string. That would mean the other side is not straight either. If they go up and down a little bit, and in and out a little bit, things start to look really weird.

Proper use of a laser level, string line, and tape measure will take care of this common mistake.

Mistake #2: Not properly covering pressure plates and straps

I have been answering pool questions online for many years and am always amazed at how often I am asked about nicks in the liner around the booster assemblies right inside the pool. This can be a major problem, meaning the pool is not safe and needs to be drained before it can be repaired. The lining cannot sit on the bare metal of anything, there must be a cushion.

The problem is usually soil settling around the channels of the braces or pressure plates. The weight of the water when the pool is full is tremendous, what you put under it has to be solid. This means not only backfilling around the brace assemblies, but also packing them solidly. If necessary, water, wait and pack some more.

The other mistake is not covering the pressure plates with enough sand. Some of these things are big and they all have sharp edges. They are very important to the integrity of a pool and cannot be neglected, but they must be well covered. Remember, the weight of the water increases as the pool fills, whatever is on those plates will compress. The sand will not only be compressed, but will also move into large openings, such as those created at the ends of pressure plates.

Make sure the side support assemblies are well packed and well covered.

Mistake #3: Not properly locking the side straps

Have I already mentioned water weight? Yes I have, and it pushes on the pool walls just like it pushes on the ground. This is why it is important to use a concrete block under the back of each brace. Just as important, these blocks must be placed perfectly level and on firm ground.

I also mentioned the side gussets that go in and out when looking towards the side of the pool. While the clamps may look fine before adding water, if the blocks are not solid and level, the clamps will come off when the pool fills and will never come off the same. This leaves the pool side going in and out. This is not a good professional look.

If you are attempting to install an oval above ground pool on your own, be sure to take the time to correctly position the side supports. The posts that line the sides of your pool will make or break the bottom line.

Benefits of using Baby Shops

There are many instances where one may find themselves in need of baby items with no idea what to get. Baby stores offer an alternative to buying the wrong baby shower gift. They also provide parents with a one-stop place to get items including furniture and clothing for their growing baby.

Many baby stores offer products specifically for babies from newborns to toddlers. The clothes are usually unique and different from the clothes one will see in a general store. In many cases, a baby store will have furniture available that is also not easily found in other stores. This is especially true if one is looking for a certain design or pattern in baby furniture.

Many baby stores provide parents with important information about parenting and what babies need as they grow and develop. The staff is very knowledgeable and experienced in the types of toys and furniture that will help a child learn and grow in a safe environment. The store will have furniture that meets strict safety standards and one does not have to worry about whether it is safe to use with a baby or not.

Baby store staff are dedicated people who realize the importance of their jobs. They take the time to get to know each customer and the specific needs of the babies they are providing products for. When there is a need for a particular item, staff will find the item or make the necessary contacts to have the item custom made for the customer.

The quality of merchandise that most baby stores carry is much higher than in general stores. The staff provides items at a variety of prices to fit any family’s budget. In many cases, stores also sell consignment items for their customers. Those on a very tight budget can obtain quality merchandise at a very affordable price through the store’s practice of offering consignment sales.

When a person discovers that they cannot reach the physical location of the baby store, they can also find it online. Many baby stores sell their entire line of products online. An individual can select merchandise and clothing from a large selection. These items are presented with the same dedication to offering high quality to your customers as to those who come to the store.

Many people who are shopping for a baby shower will find that by visiting a baby store they can get exactly what is needed for a newborn baby. The store’s professionals can help find a gift that is both functional and versatile for the newborn. In some cases, stores offer gift certificates so that one can present the new mother with a gift certificate to pay for merchandise in the store at a later date.

Baby store professionals work very hard to ensure that their customers’ needs are met. They create an atmosphere that is both supportive and informative. Providing quality products and information helps parents create the parenting experience they want for their baby.

How to make warhammer crystals

When you have a cool termagaunt miniature or a beautiful base and want to add more detail to it. How do you want to add more details to enhance your appearance? Well now I have a reason for you to smile because Crystals are the best answer. Imagine your base that was being added by a crystal on the sides, how cool can that be. This time adding not only the crystals on the bases of your warhammer, but also putting sand and painting it to add more variety. In this article you will learn how to make Warhammer crystals that you can add to your base or on any terrain.

Material’s list

-drinkers

-Paint brush

-sandpaper

-PVA glue (white glue)

-various paintings

Step 1 cutting the sprues

No need to buy sprues at the store, just extra sprues that you may see around your work area. Cut a few small pieces out of them, just make sure they are fairly clean of any marks or numbers that were placed on your sprues. Because the sprues usually appear with it. Crystals with markings on it, especially numbers, will look pretty bad. So just double check the sprues you will be using for your crystals.

Step 2 Sand and shape

Once you have your sprues, start sanding them into crystal shaped pieces. Imagine that you are going to put your sprues on the bases of your warhammer miniature so the size will be quite small.

Step 3 Glue the crystals to the base

When you have your sprues sanded and shaped into crystals, glue a couple of crystals onto random areas of your base or anywhere you like. Crystals that are glued at an angle give the base of your warhammer an extra touch that looks great.

Step 4 Sand glue

Next, brush PVA glue (with glue) over the rest of your warhammer base and sprinkle in fine sand, and then after sprinkling, shake off any excess sand that doesn’t stick to the glue. Then let it dry for a few minutes.

Step 5 Paint crystals

When it’s dry, it’s time to paint your crystals. Start by applying your first color base coat to your crystals. Let’s just use a lichen purple paint so it’s easily recognizable. Next, drybrush with the witchy purple color and then with the tentacle pink color. After dry brushing, leave it a few more minutes to dry, then add a blue wash ink. Be sure to dilute the blue ink, otherwise it will saturate the glass and you won’t have visible undercoats.

Step 6 Paint the sand (optional)

If you have some time left and you still want to add more beauty to your warhammer, you can make this suggestion. You can paint the sand apart from the crystals, for a nice contrast dry brush your sand with Codex Gray paint. Be sure to leave some of the natural color showing. And finish it off by applying a slightly dry brush with some white skull.

Attributes of the Unborn Baby – Interconnection Between Baby Psychology and Parenting Psychology

Our understanding of the psychology of the baby and the psychology of the parents is superficial. Much of the accepted knowledge is based on misconceptions and theories. The psychology of the baby and the psychology of the parents are interconnected and affect each other. To properly understand a baby, it is important to understand the common negative family dynamics, serious disorders, and dysfunctional behavior patterns that are present in most people’s lives. These factors influence the exchanges, agreements and reactions that occur unconsciously between the baby and the parents.

Before birth and throughout infancy (until the child acquires social language skills), communications between baby and parent take place naturally and primarily as subconscious communications. When parents are extremely selfish and negative, it creates a distressing and painful mental and emotional experience for a vulnerable and sensitive baby or unborn child.

Unborn babies are alive and growing at the time the sperm penetrates the egg. About three weeks pass before the physical heart begins to beat. At six weeks, babies turn their arms, legs, and heads. Their physical movements reveal whether they are comfortable or uncomfortable, and also give babies the feeling that they are separated from their surroundings.

12 weeks

By twelve weeks, their major physical organs are developed enough to be visible and regular observable cycles of activity and rest have begun. At fifteen weeks, ultrasound recordings show fetuses moving in response to laughter or coughing from their mothers. They demonstrate the ability to taste and discern the taste differences between sweet, bitter, and sour.

Four-month-old fetuses make “decisive movements” such as thumb sucking in an effort to calm down when stressed or threatened. Ultrasound images have captured unborn twins expressing a variety of feelings by repeatedly hitting, kicking, kissing or playing in the womb. They develop the ability to hear sounds around four months, which allows them. to take a giant leap in consciousness. Although a baby’s physical ears won’t be fully formed until the sixth month, experiments confirm that unborn babies can hear months before then due to a primary hearing system. Babies in the womb seem capable of memorizing the voices of their mothers (and fathers). Immediately after birth, tests show that many prefer their mother’s voice when exposed to the voices of a variety of other women.

Their eyelids remain fused until the sixth month. Surprisingly, however, experiments show that unborn babies are actually capable of “seeing” months before their eyelids open. They can “see” without the use of their physical eyes. They visibly respond when a bright light is shined on the outside of their mothers stomach. Some fetuses move towards the light and fixate on it, others move away from the light apparently disturbed by it. By reacting to lights, prenates are demonstrating their ability to see objects in space and respond to them in a determined and coordinated way.

6 months

During the sixth month, brain wave tests detect periods of REM sleep that indicate a “dream state,” and dreaming means thinking and processing images that are meaningful to the baby. Facial expressions and body movements that occur while the fetus is sleeping show that the baby is having a pleasant or unpleasant sleep experience.

Fetuses apparently listen all the time and are observed moving their bodies and dancing to their mothers’ speech and moving to certain types of music. Most fetuses are “startled” by a loud noise, but learn to discriminate and ignore certain routine noises that are repeated in their external environments.

Scientists have conducted studies showing that by the sixth month, a baby has the ability to remember and retain memories. At this time, they are able to discern subtle differences in their mothers’ attitudes and feelings and have been observed responding to them. Psychological, neurological, biochemical, and psychological tests performed on unborn babies in the womb point to the fact that fetuses make decisions, think, feel, remember, hear, learn, and react positively or negatively. Science now confirms that the unborn baby ready to be born already has a distinctive and observable personality.

Reaction – Reactive Patterns of Behavior

Unborn babies shape their attitudes by how they choose to react to what they feel and perceive. They begin to form their basic approaches to life by their choices in relation to the intentions, attitudes, choices and demands of their mothers and fathers, and the various subconscious messages they receive from their parents during life in the womb.

When our babies arrive in the world of air, they are already burdened with substantial, subconscious, negative psychological “baggage.” At birth, many are “bundles of pain,” not bundles of joy.

Organization Solutions for the Disorganized Entrepreneur

After more than 20 years as an entrepreneur and consultant to entrepreneurs, I am convinced that for many entrepreneurs, “getting organized” is an enigma. “Organized entrepreneur” may even be an oxymoron, because the same strength that makes great entrepreneurs makes organization poor, at least organization as most of the world defines it.

For most of my career I considered myself an organizational consultant. The most frustrating aspect of that role was defending against people’s preconceived notions about the word “organized,” particularly as it relates to me. They envisioned me having “one sheet of paper on the desk at a time”. And as someone who lived and worked in a methodical (boring?) way. They assumed that I couldn’t even imagine experiencing the chaos of being totally overwhelmed by my surroundings. Nothing could be further from the truth!

I was lucky to grow up in a very organized home. Four of us shared the top floor of a two-story country house, with the bathroom downstairs, where my father’s parents lived. As soon as I went to school, my mother went to work full time. In addition, she took care of the normal activities of a farmer, such as gardening and canning, and she was also very active in the community. Being responsible for taking care of my own physical environment was an unspoken expectation, and my parents followed suit. I have no recollection of panic situations, like frantically searching for car keys or losing papers. Although the house often looked messy, it could be corrected quickly, because everything had a place.

My first husband was not only organized, but meticulous. We used to joke that we made a great team because he could make a mess faster than anyone he knew, but he enjoyed cleaning it up. His profession was one that involved very long-term projects, so cleaning the kitchen was something he enjoyed because he could see immediate results.

After we adopted three children, I began spending time with other mothers listening to horror stories about their struggles with the organization. Before that event, I hadn’t given much thought to how I organized my life. As I sat on a playground in New York City, I heard comments like “We haven’t eaten at the dining room table in months because it’s covered in paper” or “We had to file an extension on our income tax again.” . this year.” At the time I was looking for a way to earn extra money for our household and had read that many successful businesses were the result of entrepreneurs listening to other people’s complaints. Thinking about my own experiences, I realized that I had a history of helping other people take control of their environment. During a summer vacation, I helped my aunt, a mother of five, organize her kitchen and closets. In high school, I organized a music library. As As an au pair in college, I developed a recipe retrieval system for my boss, a gourmet chef, and even created a filing system while volunteering for a non-profit agency in the West Indies.

I soon realized that helping other people to organize their environment also improved their lives. And for me, it was also quite therapeutic. As someone who had frequent bouts of depression, one of my coping techniques was to take control of my environment. As my mind began to feel totally overwhelmed, I found comfort in controlling my surroundings, especially getting rid of as much as I could so I had less to control.

As I became interested in creating a career as an organization consultant, I began to pay attention to how I organized myself. I read articles on time and space management to compare how other people did it. I was often frustrated that I couldn’t act in the routine manner described by “organized” people. Fun things like getting dressed in the morning frustrated me. I noticed that I didn’t have a routine, and as much as I tried to develop one, after all, that’s what “organized” people did, I failed. Sometimes I would do my hair first and then do my makeup, often stopping to do something in the kitchen before finishing. I found little time to “get ready” before taking the kids to school and often folded clothes in the middle of the night. However, I seemed to accomplish a lot (although never as much as I wanted!), and other people often asked me how I did it.

After declaring myself an “organization consultant,” I was determined to become the role model for organized life. An attempt stands out clearly in my mind. It seemed to me that an “organized” person would have a menu plan. So, with great diligence, I would pull out my cookbooks over the weekend, plan menus for the following week, and shop for ingredients. I soon discovered that this plan was a horror for me. The menu said Wednesday was spaghetti night, but I wasn’t in the mood, so I grabbed the leftover veggies, some chicken pieces, and made stir fry. I finally came to the conclusion that an organized kitchen meant three things to me:

(1) always have plenty of staples on hand,

(2) buy a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables once a week, and

(3) prepare a meal depending on my feelings that day.

Although my career as an organizing consultant began by organizing homes, clients soon asked me to help them in their office. I was terrified at the idea. How would you know what to do in a business? I trained as a musician! But I agreed to give it a try and soon discovered that many of the techniques that worked for me at home worked just as well in business. The first step was always to get rid of the unnecessary. Ask 100 employees if they know there are things in their office they don’t need, and 99 of them would say “Yes!” But how many people go to work and say, “Well, I don’t have anything better to do, I think I’ll clean up my files today.” In fact, if they do, they may be faced with a colleague who complains, “Why are you doing that? We have to finish that new proposal!”

Research shows that the average worker spends 150 hours a year looking for lost information, and 80% of what most office workers keep is never used. My presence there as a “consultant” gave people permission to take the time to not only weed out what they didn’t need, but also to discover what they did have that might be useful to other people in the organization. We then created systems in storage closets and file rooms that allowed people to access each other’s information. He often eliminated the purchase of supplies and materials that already existed. Plus, he helped erase wasted time by reinventing what another employee had already created.

I’ve always been intrigued by God’s sense of humor. I am now married to a man to whom the organization is a mystery and he is totally uninterested in changing that. He would just prefer someone else to do it for him! Talk about a challenging relationship. Now I not only have to deal with my own organizational struggles, but also those of others. This, however, has made my career easier, because one of the most common questions I am asked is “What if the problem is my colleague or my spouse?”.

One of the things I have learned is that there is a big difference between inclination and motivation. If I am motivated to do something, I can do it. If it’s not something I’m innately skilled at, it will take me longer than someone else, but it’s possible, and the results are very satisfying. On the other hand, it is impossible to convince another person that he should organize, or anything else, if he does not see the need. I have been blessed with a husband who is the most supportive person I know. He never complains about my outrageous and often wacky ideas! Without your support, I would never have been able to grow the Hemphill Productivity Institute into a team of nearly 60 people committed to helping entrepreneurs bring their innate skills to market. One of the business survival principles for a disorganized person is to surround yourself with people who have complementary skills to your own. I would have been burned out years ago if I hadn’t found strategic assistants who are brilliant at cleaning up the masses I create.

I have always been, and continue to be, frustrated with my own lack of inherent time management skills. The idea of making and prioritizing a list continues to be a challenge for me. For one thing, I always interrupt myself before completing the list. Deciding if something is an A, B, or C priority is a complete impossibility for me, though God knows I’ve tried! But I’ve finally made peace with myself (most of the time, anyway) by continually making lists. One of the principles I teach clients is “Half of any job is having the right tool.” When it comes to time management, I must capture a “do” when I think about it. That means carrying a tape recorder in the car, a phone call when I can’t write down my idea, and large blank sheets of paper when I’m sitting on a plane.

The secret to time management for me is to categorize all those “to do’s” from various places, and then organize them by when and how you might get them done. For example, “send John a birthday card” on my calendar, because it has to be done on a specific day, “buy a new stapler” on an “errand list” and “visit www.someplace.com [http://www.someplace.com]” goes in “On-Line To Do’s”. I often find that I don’t have the “To Do List” with me when I decide to run errands, but it’s amazing how the mere act of writing it down helps create a list in my memory. It’s not a perfect system, but it works most of the time, and I’ve been known to call my office from the supply store to ask my assistant to check my list!

I may always be frustrated by my plight of improving my own organizational skills. But the good news is that I feel better and better every day. In the meantime, I am fully capable of helping clients who feel hopelessly disorganized take control of their lives and their businesses. From my perspective, organizing is an art, not a science. It is not about forcing our clients to adopt a preconceived notion of “organization”, but about helping them to develop systems and techniques, and to choose the right tools that will allow them to be the best entrepreneurs they can be. Three questions we repeatedly ask ourselves: Does it work? You like? Does it work for others? If the answer to any of these is “No,” we need to go back and refine the systems, tools, and techniques that we have designed. Organizing is a journey, not a destination. It can not be installed; it has to be nurtured. Your business success will be judged on your results, not your organizational skills. But improving your organizational skills will likely increase your chances of success and will certainly make your journey that much easier!
