How to Make Sure You Enjoy a Vacation Even on a Tight Budget

I go on vacation more than most people I know. I just love to travel; especially to different beaches. Because of that love, I’ve had to get really good at traveling on a budget. After all, my annual vacation fund can lead to six vacations a year or one vacation depending on how I approach my finances. So I thought it would be nice in this little article to share some of the things I do to extend my vacation budget.

Be sure to create a special background for your vacation. If you put money aside, you are much more likely to leave. The reason I started doing this was because for years I would only talk about going on vacation with my friends, but I would never go. So set aside a little money every time you get a paycheck. It doesn’t have to be a lot for it to add up.

When I tell people to set aside an amount of money in each paycheck so they can go on vacation. Many people tell me that they don’t have extra money to save.

The truth is, all you have to do is look for hidden opportunities to save money. A good way to find hidden opportunities to save money is to list the unnecessary luxury items you spend money on on a monthly basis and stop buying them.

You know the unnecessary luxuries I’m talking about, like eating out when you can make lunch, or going to the local coffee shop three times a week for a five-dollar cup of coffee …

We all have those things that we can let go of. The key is to list them and decide which ones aren’t as important as those special vacations you’ve been dreaming of.

If your answer to that strategy is that you don’t waste money at all and you don’t have room for a vacation fund yet. So I would recommend choosing a part-time job or business where you can fully dedicate the funds to a vacation fund.

My friend works as an assistant as her full time job, but she also works as a waitress one night a week. It’s not much, but it allows her to live the lifestyle she wants and still save five hundred dollars a month for a vacation. The moral of this story is to be creative in one of two directions, be it saving or doing. So get in the dedicated habit of saving money for that amazing vacation you’ve always wanted.

JT Thomas inducted into the Minor League Soccer News Hall of Fame

James “JT” Thomas, former linebacker for the West Virginia Mountaineers, will be inducted into the Minor League Soccer News Hall of Fame on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Oasis Resort Hotel & Casino in Mesquite, Nevada.

Thomas’ nomination was reviewed by the MLFN Board of Directors, and he received notification of his acceptance on July 30.

“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” said Thomas. “I owe everyone a big thank you for supporting me over the years.”

Thomas has used strong leadership skills, tireless work ethic, and passion for the game to become a driving force in the development and promotion of minor league and semi-professional soccer throughout the Midwest.

The history of JT Thomas’ football career can be divided into three different chapters: player, coach and executive. Thomas’s college career began at Fort Scott Community College (Kansas) in 1992. After his second season, Thomas transferred to West Virginia University (WVU).

In two seasons at Fort Scott, both as team captain, Thomas earned two Jayhawk All-Kansas Conference honors as outside linebacker and Defensive Player of the Game in the 1992 Valley of the Sun Bowl. As a WVU inside linebacker, Thomas received two Mountaineer Club Awards for excellence on the field, earned two All-Big East team honors and won the Defensive Player of the Game award at the 1994 CarQuest Bowl. He also led both teams in tackles each season.

A successful college career brought Thomas to the semi-professional soccer circuit in 1996 with the Charleston Rockets, where he was able to play with former WVU great Major Harris. Returning as an outside linebacker, Thomas led the team in tackles and became a league All-Star when the Rockets finished their 11-game regular season 10-1. Thomas attempted to carry his semi-professional ball success to the Arena Football League in 1997 with the Albany Firebirds, but suffered a career-ending leg injury on the third day of training camp.

Instead of a helmet and pads, the next step in Thomas’ soccer career included a headset and clipboard. After a season as the Defensive Coordinator for a 13-16 year old championship team, Thomas returned to semi-professional soccer in 2000 as the Head Coach of West Virginia WHAM! Located in Morgantown, WV, Thomas compiled a .695 winning percentage (41 wins, 18 losses), won three Coach of the Year awards, and led three league All-Star games in six seasons as WHAM! trainer.

In 2001, Thomas also directed the WHAM! to the Mid-Ohio Football League (MOFL) Championship.

During the 2003 season, Thomas assumed full ownership of WHAM! When he got off the WHAM! In 2005, he decided to shift his full-time focus to developing the success of semi-professional soccer and the WHAM! franchise. In the two years since he left coaching, Thomas held executive positions in the Ohio Valley Soccer League and the MOFL. In January 2007, Thomas was promoted to MOFL Commissioner.

Currently, Thomas oversees the day-to-day operations of the MOFL, an expanding 10-team semi-professional league in Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. His love for semi-professional soccer is only matched by his desire to see the MOFL, and all minor league soccer organizations, produce a soccer product that is competitive, organized, developed, and entertaining for the game’s players and fans. of football. he wake up.

Thomas also serves as a semi-professional sports consultant at League Level, LLC, a company that provides marketing and promotional strategies for organizations with an emphasis on amateur and semi-professional athletics.

He currently resides in Morgantown, WV, with his wife Rochelle and two sons, Jared, 3, and AJ, 10 months. Thomas also has a son, JT Thomas III, from a previous relationship.

Construction Work and Roadworks Injuries in Washington State: Can We Prevent Them?

Drive Slower to Reduce Construction Job Injuries on Tacoma Highway Projects

Recently, I noticed that reading panels throughout that area ask drivers to slow down to help construction workers. The City of Tacoma is working hard to prevent workplace accidents. Bright orange speed limit signs, penalty warning signs, and plaque reading messages are spread across multiple zones. Unfortunately, based on my observations, all of these efforts are unsuccessful. Drivers do not slow down in this area of Tacoma. To make matters worse, most faster drivers regularly express their contempt for safe drivers. In fact, drivers who obey the new speed requirements provoke the ire of local motorists and experience unfriendly attacks.

Statistics of injuries and deaths of workers at work in road construction

In the US, about 3 workers die every day from traffic-related car accidents. These statistics come from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). If you think about it, there are more than 1000 work injury cases that result in the death of the worker.

Interestingly, the state of Washington receives federal funding from NIOSH to track work-related deaths following a traumatic injury on the job. The program responsible for tracking the data is called the Washington Death Assessment and Monitoring Assessment (FACE). More information on workplace fatalities and the FACE program can be found on the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) website.

According to FACE, car accidents accounted for 21% of construction job fatalities in Washington State from 1998 to 2019. These staggering statistics pertain to fatalities only. They do not take into account other serious non-fatal work accidents that happen on the road.

All drivers must help prevent road injuries and workplace accidents.

For me, the speed limits in the work zone are not an inconvenience or a suggestion. These lower speed limits are necessary to protect construction and highway workers. Consequently, speed limit signs are there to prevent injury and death to construction workers.

In my posts, I often write about the importance of increasing safety in the workplace. I often put that burden on employers. However, in this case it is up to us drivers to prevent accidents at work. Road construction zones are an area in which we must all do our part to make it less dangerous for road workers. That means slowing down and following signs and directions. By staying alert and vigilant, we can prevent work-related injuries and help keep our road workers safe.

The olive ridley turtle: Puerto Vallarta’s favorite marine visitor

Every summer, thousands of sea turtles head to the beaches of Puerto Vallarta to lay their eggs in the sand. With the help of the Puerto Vallarta Sea Turtle Protection Program, 96% of the eggs can hatch, and the baby turtles are safely shipped back to their oceanic habitat during the second half of the year. Since the annual sea turtle nesting has become an important part of Puerto Vallarta’s culture, this incredible natural event also offers travelers a number of unique entertainment and ecotourism opportunities. While it is true that there is much to see and experience in Puerto Vallarta during the summer and fall months, tourists who visit the city during this time of the year can also partake of the excitement created by the olive ridley turtles that visit alongside them.

Before the involvement of local environmental groups and the Mexican government, only 40% of sea turtle eggs could hatch each year. Although the olive ridley sea turtle is one of the most common species of sea turtle and is found in all the world’s oceans, the olive ridley turtle is on the U.S. Endangered Species List and has become protected in the United States. coastal regions around the world. Sea turtle protection efforts, both in Puerto Vallarta and abroad, are further motivated by the fact that the olive ridley sea turtle faces few threats in the ocean, which means that the human impact on their nesting areas is the biggest cause for concern. While Puerto Vallarta rests along the shores of Banderas Bay, which is ecologically diverse, as well as being framed by vibrant mountain rainforests, the city has long remained one of the most environmentally conscious communities in Mexico. . Additionally, with environmental awareness on the rise around the world, the continued efforts of the Puerto Vallarta community have inspired coastal communities and tourist destinations throughout Mexico and beyond.

Since sea turtle nesting takes place right outside the doors of Puerto Vallarta’s best resorts, the local hotel industry has also become involved in the protection effort. In addition to working with local scientists and environmental experts, many of the resorts host special events during the hatching season from July to December (most hatching occurs in November). At the resorts, visitors will be able to find environmental seminars, conferences by renowned marine biologists, and holiday events celebrating another successful season for sea turtles.

However, the most exciting events take place on the adjacent beaches, as visiting families have the opportunity to interact with the newborn turtles and even release them into their oceanic habitat. Sea turtle release events on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta are open to all visiting families and are always free. During nighttime releases, both children and adults will be able to hold the newborn turtles and, working with the help of on-site officials, carefully release them onto the sand. Local custom asks the attending children to name the young turtles and wish them luck on their journey, while adults can take pictures before release. Information on nocturnal releases can be obtained directly from the resorts every day during the hatching season.

Before hatching, resort employees and researchers painstakingly collect the deposited eggs each night and transport them to secure incubation facilities. As the eggs begin to hatch 40 to 70 days after they are laid, officials take the baby turtles to the beaches immediately, as the turtles must be released within 24 hours. If you visit Puerto Vallarta during the summer or fall months, it is also possible to tour these hatchery facilities and witness the remarkable research and care that goes into a successful olive ridley season.

When witnessing the remarkable preservation program developed to help the olive ridley turtle, it is easy to see why Puerto Vallarta is recognized as one of the most ecologically conscious travel destinations in the world. Most importantly for tourists, after spending time among the mother turtles and their young, visitors to the area quickly realize that olive ridley turtles do not hinder the fun on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta, but rather add a new and exciting element to the city. unique experience.

Are you planning to move? Ask a relocation astrologer

More and more people are contacting me these days for an astrology reading because they want a new lease of life. That new lease could include a better place to live, starting a home business, earning money, or retiring.

Sometimes they are simply fed up with the area they live in, the people they work with or associate with, themselves from staying there too long, the quality of life or the lack of it, and they want to get out of Dodge NOW.

Astrology is a perspective to find your best city, location or place here or abroad. It’s not the only one. I want to point that out. Checking your daily horoscope for entertainment is one thing, making a major life change, that’s another story.

This article is from notes taken recently from a conversation between relocation astrologer Cait Benten, that’s me, and my friend Christine Troward.

Cait, what can people expect from a relocation astrology reading?

When you contact me, I know that you want to find your best city or location to work in, have a successful career, maybe start a home business, raise your family safely or retire and therefore one of the first questions I have. I am usually asked, “What is relocation astrology? What do you do?”

What information do you need to do a relocation astrology reading?

The astrology of relocation begins with your natal chart, what we astrologers call your natal chart. Where were you born? What was the EXACT time of your birth? Check your birth certificate. I spend many hours moving your birth chart to find what appear to be your best places in the world to live. It’s a long, demanding, and tedious process, and it takes many hours to find the best spots that match your natal chart.

What about those cheap computer programs? What are its limitations?

A computer program is not going to find what I am looking for when I work on your astrological chart. There are too many variables and computer programs are not intuitive. That is why I interview you and ask you what you are looking for in your life, all this happens before starting your astrology reading that I record and send you. Listen, then we continue with a session where you ask me all your questions.

As I understand it, your astrology readings don’t tell people that they have to move to a certain place to be successful.

I’ll tell you up front that even your most favorable location will present its own unique set of challenges. Oh that life was perfect! Before you visit or move to a certain location, I encourage you to count the costs.

Relocation astrology is not about packing up and moving simply because I tell you “This seems to be your most favorable location.” I encourage you to COUNT YOUR COSTS before moving in. Are you ready for what will be a great life change? Every move I have made has required a period of adaptation and adjustment and I am sure this will be true for you as well.

Moving takes a lot of planning and thinking before you pack your things and go somewhere, doesn’t it? Moving becomes even more complicated if you move abroad, although more and more Americans are retiring abroad.

You have moved now! Settling in your new area is just the first phase of many new things to deal with, including a decision that may include buying a home, registering your vehicles, finding where the schools are located, and it is much easier if, when you move. , you already have a job ready, unless you are retired. If you are retired, how much will you miss seeing your children or grandchildren? Some handle this problem better than others.

Do you use relocation astrocartography or Vedic astrology in your work? I realize that a lot of people like to do the astrocartography chart.

I know both systems, but over the years I have incorporated the best techniques I have come across. However, I trust my intuition and higher wisdom when I see a difficult board. That is the only way to overcome what seems like an insurmountable obstacle in a person’s astrology reading.

Have you ever had the feeling that people want you to make the decision about what to do for them?

I won’t do that and neither will any other big-name relocation astrologer. Check out my disclaimer page at http: www.astro-earth-relocation.com and you will see where I am honest in telling you that “WHEREVER we move, our EMOTIONAL SELF travels with us.” Some people, more than others, will need medical, financial and emotional advice and I urge you to use these professional resources if your life situation requires such help.

The other day a woman told me: “I want you to send us to a place where my husband no longer uses drugs.” I had to tell her nicely but firmly, “Your husband makes his own decisions in life. I refuse to be responsible for whether or not your marriage works.”

As a relocation astrologer, I will tell you that our lives, no matter where we live, become what we determine to do with them. How wonderful an area is depends on you and how you treat others as much as how they treat you. Wherever I go, there you are.

However, a new location can give you a new lease on life. Maybe it’s time, after all these years, to get out of Dodge City and find a place that you appreciate and where you are appreciated.

Do you find that some people are determined in their own way and resist any suggestion, which is what they are, just suggestions, that you see as a good placement on your chart?

When you call me for a relocation astrology session, I will use everything I know to help you find your best place or city. I’ve had a handful of clients who, after searching and searching for days to find a match for them based on the movement of their birth chart or natal chart, say, “I don’t like that place.” “My kids won’t like it.” My husband says that the people of Tucson are not friendly. “I’ve heard people make judgments about places they’ve never been, a case of being too stubborn about areas they know nothing about.

It is strange to hear a relocation astrologer admit this, but there have been a handful of people that I have done astrological charts for and there is NO better place for them to live and I have told them that. Maybe there is a second or third place where they can have a very good life, so I know that I will be honest with you about my findings.

If I tell you that Santa Barbara looks favorable based on your natal chart or natal chart and you say, “No Santa Barbara” or “Oh no, not Austin, Texas,” then after you’ve pointed out all of your best geographic areas, I’ll say “So use your intuition. There are no other places I know of to send you. “

Why do you think relocation astrology is a valuable tool, even though you’ve told me on other occasions that it is just one of many tools that could be helpful to a person looking for the next place to call home?

Although I am a bit more expensive than other astrologers, I have been incredibly busy since I started Astro-Earth-Relocation five years ago, so I no longer solicit or advertise to clients.

Reputation is everything?

It helps, but you only build a reputation by doing great work for your clients. Most of my business is now word of mouth recommendations from former clients.

Do you tell people that they must move to find success or love, earn money or be happy?

No. Nor do I tell them that they have to make this move before this or that date. I tell my clients to ask themselves, “What if you were happy now and didn’t move? Would that disappoint you?” Some people are uneasy about change. That is not a good reason to move. Happiness is an inside job; you have to provide your own interior cabin pressure no matter where you live.

I’ll close my article on relocation astrology, which I hope you are curious enough to try, just to experience this kind of unique astrological reading, with a quote from my friend James Clayton Napier that he uses to open his wonderful Business & Career article. : Meet your ruling star, which you can read on the web:

“Meet your ruling star. A man [or woman] it is better received by one nation than another, or it is welcomed by one city than another. He finds more luck in one position or position than in another, and all this despite the fact that his qualifications are the same or even identical. Let each man know his luck and talents. Follow your guiding star and help her without mistaking anyone else for her. Know how to transplant yourself. There are nations with which one must cross their borders to make their worth felt. “

Dinner at Salotto at Delray Beach

We were in Salotto with a great ristoriante that will fit well in no matter what Italian! So since I was the first to be there, I sat on a stool in the super cozy wine bar, I think he was actually calling me, I heard him whisper my name! So this charming Italian bistro has a WINE BAR! This is gonna be great! my friends can be as late as they want. I met Claudio (with a heavy Italian accent), the sommelier who oversees the Salotto Wine Bar. Ooooh! It has Deerfield Ranch wines by the glass and Tobacco Road and Black Coyote. This will be the best impromptu night yet!

One thing about Italians, whether at home or at work, they make you feel so welcome that you just want to kick off your shoes and relax like you belong there. So Claudio and I talked about sommelier with sommelier, I’m not sure if I understood everything he said but oooh it was dreamy and “talking the grape” with someone else who knows; so I smiled and took a sip of my Deerfield Ranch Red Rex which, by the way, has 6 different grapes that make up its impeccable composition: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Sangiovese, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, (that’s what they talk about the wine geek) and Claudio and I totally ‘compared him to the always unconditional, king of kings, Chateauneuf-du-Pape who owns thirteen grape varieties. Oh God help me, I was in heaven!

My friends finally arrive and we sit outside on Salotto’s lovely patio enjoying the mild 60 degrees and order plate after plate after plate of homemade handmade pasta and sauces prepared exclusively by the owner, Tina, who literally hits her kitchen like a tornado. White. . We have the opportunity to meet Tina and her husband John, who welcomed us like family in their “home”. This Salotto is a great find, everyone knows everyone. We didn’t actually do it, they just made us feel that way, that great way to welcome the Italian. The food, the atmosphere, the true authenticity of the owners and yes, the incredible selection of wines has this gem right on the brink of being something so magnificent that everyone will be clamoring to eat whatever Tina’s kitchen is preparing along with the Claudio’s wines; Hurry up and find locals, or you’ll never get a table in Season. I will though!
