Five Little-Known Facts About Pittsburgh Steelers Great Ben Roethlisberger

The great search that nearly every team in the National Football League is involved in at one time or another is the search for the next great quarterback. This doesn’t even have to mean the next great quarterback of all time, sometimes it can simply mean the next great quarterback in a team’s history. Finding that diamond in the rough is for fans, a dream come true. Having a great quarterback means a team is bound to be competitive, if not successful. The Pittsburgh Steelers became one of those teams in 2004 when they drafted Ben Roethlisberger from the University of Miami in Ohio.

For such a young quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger has already accomplished a lot, including multiple Super Bowl wins, Pro Bowl appearances and becoming the leader of a franchise rich in history. Not much is known about him, though, and here are five interesting facts any fan should know about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

-In four of the first seven years of Ben’s career, he finished the season with exactly the same number of touchdown passes thrown in the season. His stats for 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2010 show him with 17 total touchdown passes.

-Through the 2010 NFL season, Ben Roethlisberger had thrown more touchdown passes, 19 total, against the Cleveland Browns than against any other team in the league.

-During the 2010 NFL season, the only players to have caught ten or more touchdown passes during Roethlisberger’s career are Hines Ward (39), Heath Miller (26), Santonio Holmes (17), Mike Wallace (13) and Nate. Washington (11).

-Ben’s first career touchdown pass came in a 30-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in 2004. It came in the fourth quarter and went for three yards. It was Pittsburgh’s first touchdown of the game and was caught by Antwaan Randle El.

-During the 2010 NFL season, Ben Roethlisberger had thrown 144 touchdown passes during his career. He threw 88 of those in the first half of the games he played in and just 56 of them in the second half.

Ness Notes (February 17)

The final night of NBA action before the four-day All-Star break featured two old-fashioned blowouts! The Bulls beat the 76ers 117-84 for their biggest win of the year and the Suns defeated the Rockets, 109-75.

Believe it or not, that game was not as close as the final score. Phoenix led by 32 at the half (the biggest first-half lead of any team this year) and 98-53 after three quarters. The All Star game is on Sunday, with the West favored by five points and a total of 259.

My bye on Friday is Cornell over Princeton at 7:00 ET. The Bulls’ easy win (117-84) increased my current NBA streak to 13-2-1 since February 3. However, I’ve been struggling lately in college hoops, with last night’s half-point loss to Washington (a 22* play) being pretty TYPICAL of my recent LUCK, or lack thereof. I spend Friday preparing for a BIG Saturday.

Two of the top three 25 teams in action on Thursday won. No. 13 Boston College beat Miami 65-54 and No. 20 Washington beat Oregon, 75-72. However, No. 17 Georgetown lost for the second straight time (after a seven-game winning streak), 57-51 at Marquette.

The Citadel lost at home to the College of Charleston, 72-52 on Thursday. The Bulldogs (0-13 in the Southern Conference), join South Florida (0-11 in the Big East) and Texas State (0-11 in the Southland) as the only three Division I schools still winless in the conference.

ESPN’s BracketBuster games kick off tonight with three games, two televised on ESPNU. Albany visits Va Commonwealth at 7:00 ET in a game in which the Rams are favored by eight points with a total of 132 1/2.

The late game at 9:00 ET is more interesting as Akron 19-5 12-2 in the MAC visits Nevada 19-5 9-3 in the WAC. Nevada, a school that has won 25 games each of the last two years, including THREE games in the NCAA tournament, is favored by six points with a total of 133 1/2.

Penn, 7-0 in the Ivy League (and one of SIX remaining schools still undefeated in conference play), is in Columbia tonight (7:00 ET). Quakers are favored by 14 1/2 points with a total of 133 1/2.

It’s going to be a MONSTER weekend in college basketball, as along with the regular number of TV games airing on Saturdays and Sundays (nearly 20), the ESPN family of networks will air 11 BracketBuster games. The most intriguing will be No. 24 Bucknell in northern Iowa on ESPN2 at 12:00 noon ET.

Bucknell (21-3) is ranked for the first time in school history and heads into the game riding a 12-game winning streak (second to George Washington’s 13-game streak). The Bison are also one of SIX schools that remain undefeated in conference play (12-0 in the Patriot League) and while this is not a conference game, it will be the school’s biggest showcase since beating Kansas in the first last year’s round. NCAA tournament.

Northern Iowa was ranked 25th a few weeks ago (the school’s first appearance in the top 25 in its 106 history) but is riding a two-game losing streak. The Panthers have been in the NCAA tournament 21-6 in each of the last two years.

No. 2 Duke (12-0 in the ACC), No. 3 Memphis (9-0 in C-USA), No. 5 Gonzaga (10-0 in the WCC) and No. 7 George Washington (11-0 in the A-10), join Bucknell and Penn as the only schools still without a win in their respective conferences. ALL will be in action over the weekend.

No. 2 Duke hosts Miami-Florida on Sunday, No. 3 Memphis is at Tulane on Saturday, No. 5 Gonzaga is at Loyola-Marymount on Saturday and No. 7 George Washington is at Richmond on Sunday. As mentioned above, GW owns the longest current winning streak in the nation at 13-game winning streak, but both Memphis and Gonzaga join Bucknell, just one win behind at 12-game winning streak.

The Citadel is off for the weekend (a blessing), but South Florida will carry a 13-game losing streak, as well as its 0-11 Big East record, into a home game with Rutgers on Saturday. Texas State, losers of 12 straight and 0-11 in the Southland, will host Texas-San Antonio, also on Saturday.

Ness Notes is available Monday through Friday at 1:00 ET. This weekend’s “top story” will be on the 2005-06 Detroit Pistons.

fun and games they are always an unavoidable part of entertainment for young and old alike. People in the United States celebrate this festival of charitable giving through their avid participation in the game of football which brings waves of pure joy and delight in the hearts of multitudes of football fans who are crazed by football mania during this festive season. Through the years, football has become one with this joyous festival of Thanksgiving.

Many interesting traditions deeply permeate the Thanksgiving festival, such as the football game that complements this festival of revelry. Professional football was the latest of the contemporary trends to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving. In 1874, eleven years after Lincoln’s proclamation, the first intercollegiate football the game was played. Two years later the Intercollegiate Football Association was formed in the Northeast, which instituted a championship game primarily to amuse the people in Thanksgiving Day. Every year strong competitors such as Princeton and Yale vied with each other to take home the most coveted winner’s trophy. Players, students, and fans would wear their school colors as a representative brand with banners flying high from New York City carriages, hotels, and business establishments. Us Thanksgiving Day church services would end early to accommodate fans, and the game would kick off season celebration for New York’s social elite. It had gained such popularity that soon, by the mid-1890s, 120,000 athletes from colleges, clubs, and high schools participated in 5,000 thanksgiving football games across the country.

The custom of watching a football game on Thanksgiving Day has evolved during the first decades of the 20th century. As football made its way into the hearts of people by winning the hearts of millions, giving it great popularity as early as the 1920s and 1930s, and earning the highly prestigious position it enjoys today, many people began to visit the football stadium to see the same. Big name teams playing for the world famous. Soccer League of America eventually established the tradition of playing nationally televised games on Thanksgiving afternoon. In addition to the conventional competition organized by the nationally recognized Soccer League in America, many high schools and colleges also host “Turkey Dayfootball games over Thanksgiving weekend, often between regional or historical rivals. However, Thanksgiving football played in America’s schools and colleges has now more or less faded away forgotten in most sections of the country and is kept alive only in two franchise cities of this world-renowned soccer league of americanamely, Detroit and Dallas, where thanksgiving football it is very much a way of life.

thanksgiving football it is most often associated with the Lions team and a tradition that has been popular since 1934 in the city of Detroit. The game has been the brainchild of GA Richards, the first owner of the team with Fierce Lion as quality players that make up the team. In fact, four generations of Detroiters have been a proud part of the American Thanksgiving celebration. Some 71 years later, fans residing in the state of Michigan transformed a local event into an annual holiday event, shaping it into the greatest tradition in Michigan history. American professional sports team. In fact no other team in professional Sports can pretend to be so apart from a american party like that team with ferocious lion like team of players with Thanksgiving. This team has hosted a game every Thanksgiving since 1934, with the exception of 1939-1944 due to World War II. The Dallas have also hosted football games every Thanksgiving. since 1966.

So we find that it all had its genesis in 1934 when a local radio executive, GA Richards, bought the Spartans from Portsmouth, Ohio and moved the team to Detroit, the Motor City. Tea lions being a newcomer to town had taken a backseat to the Baseball Tigers in the sports pages. Richards had practical reasons for scheduling the game on Thanksgiving, as he was also smart enough to realize that the best way to publicize the team would be to go for the Thanksgiving contest to attract Motor City fans during the teams’ first season. . The fierce confrontation between the lions and the invincible World Champion, that is, the robust Bears from Chicago turned out to be an all time classic. Tea lions were exceptionally good with eight wins to back them up, taking them into their entry alongside the Bears with a mark of 10-1. But Chicago had an even better record holding a commanding position with 11 straight wins. The match then reached an interesting phase where a victory in the only fateful game would ensure if the lions will achieve a tie for first place with the Bears. Two weeks before that fateful game, 26,000 tickets were sold out for the “Turkey Day” clash at University of Detroit Stadium. Richards wasn’t bummed out by the last two losses, but rather pleased with the way his team performed in his first year. His faith and trust in the team was well rewarded when lions won the popular America’s of 1935 soccer league championship. The final game was scheduled for Thanksgiving when the Lions defeated the Bears 14-2 to take the Western Championship trophy. The radio, with its enormous advertising potential, was used as bait to attract an audience. Richards, along with the nationally recognized broadcasting company, established a network of 94 stations to broadcast the bear lions confrontation. Since then, the league has conventionally scheduled two nationally televised games on Thanksgiving, usually featuring the famous Football players from Dallas, one of the most successful and popular franchises in sports and the players from Detroit, one of the least successful.

2006 It will be the 87th season of the worldwide acclaimed football and is supposed to run from September 7 to New Year’s Eve, December 31. Ideally, three games are scheduled to be played on the Thanksgiving Day. In addition to the traditional annual game between the world-renowned football players from Detroit and Dallas home games on that day, the Kansas City Chiefs, who hosted games during their days in the American Football League, will revive that tradition at 2006 hosting the Denver players on Thanksgiving Day. All of these games are scheduled to be broadcast in prime time.

Friends and family from across the United States often prefer to huddle around their radio or television to watch the live broadcast of the game while eating the special dishes prepared to commemorate. Thanksgiving. Therefore, every Thanksgiving Day revives the old and classic tradition of enjoying a game of football as part of the celebration. For decades, football and Thanksgiving has established a strong bond, leading to an adrenaline rush.

2013 fantasy football dynasty league standings

quarterbacks

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers

Rodgers already has 5 seasons of 3,900+ yards and 28+ TDs to his name. And he is still only 29 years old. Even if Greg Jennings leaves via free agency, the Packers are loaded at WR with Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and James Jones.

2. Cam Newton, Panthers

Newton seemed to get over his sophomore slump in the second half of the season. He was the No. 1 Fantasy quarterback for the last 10 weeks. Unlike other quarterbacks like Robert Griffin and Michael Vick, the 6-foot-5, 248-pound Newton has proven to be durable. He has played in 31 of a possible 32 games so far.

3. Drew Brees, Santos

Brees just posted his seventh consecutive 4,300-plus-yard season. He topped 5,000 in 2 of the last 3. Brees is 34 years old but the type of guy who could still play another 4-5 seasons. HC Sean Payton’s new contract is excellent news.

4. Matt Stafford, Lions

He threw for 4,967 yards and 20 TDs in a “low” year. Stafford’s 10th-place fantasy is his floor for the next decade. The guy doesn’t turn 25 until February.

5. Andrew Luck, Colts

He set an NFL rookie record with 4,374 passing yards. And he did it with a mediocre line and a mediocre body of passes. Luck is as good as advertised.

RB

1. Adrian Peterson, Vikings

He is coming off the most impressive season by a RB in NFL history. And AP could be even better next year as he continues to put that ACL injury behind him. Peterson turns 28 in March. But after this last season, we wouldn’t be surprised if he dominated well into his 30s.

2. LeSean McCoy, Eagles

McCoy struggled with injuries and an inconsistent supporting cast in 2012. The Eagles are headed in a new direction after firing Andy Reid, but Shady will remain the focal point of the offense. He doesn’t turn 25 until July.

3. Ray Rice, Ravens

4 consecutive seasons of more than 1,600 yards. And Rice will still be just 26 years old for the 2013 campaign.

4. CJ Spiller, Bills

He set career highs across the board in 2012, with 6.0 rushing yards and 10.7 receiving yards. With Chan Gailey gone and Fred Jackson clearly on the decline, Spiller’s workload should only grow from here. The guy is only 25 years old.

5. Doug Martin, Bucs

Here’s a young, well-rounded RB who plays in a first-run offense. Martin finished third at his position in fantasy points in his first NFL season. Get used to seeing it up there.

WR

1. Calvin Johnson, Lions

The new NFL record holder for receiving yards in a single season is still only 27 years old. He now he is entering the best moment of him. Johnson should be the first pick in the emerging dynasty leagues.

2. AJ Green, Bengals

He gets a slight edge over Julio because he has been more durable and reliable from game to game. Green has averaged 1,191 yards and 9 TDs in his first 2 NFL seasons. And the best is yet to come.

3. Julio Jones, Falcons

We still think Jones has more upside than fellow 2011 draftee AJ Green. He is more explosive and in a better situation (QB, OC).

4. Dez Bryant, Cowboys

The light bulb finally went on in the second half of 2012. And the results were spectacular. Bryant was the No. 1 WR in fantasy football for the past 8 weeks. He will be a regular in the top 5 for the next 5-6 seasons.

5. Demaryius Thomas, Broncos

He’s just as talented as the 3 guys directly in front of him on this list. The only problem for Thomas is figuring out who will throw the rock at him when Manning hangs up the studs. But it may not matter: He was a stud in 2011, even with Tim Tebow at the center.

Their

1. Jimmy Graham, Saints

Graham’s 2012 included a league-high 14 knockdowns and a nagging wrist injury. He still managed to finish as the best fantasy TE. With Drew Brees throwing the rock at him — and HC Sean Payton back to run the offense — Graham’s upside remains limitless.

2. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots

Gronk missed 5 games in 2012, but still posted his third straight 10-plus TD campaign. The 23-year-old now owns an incredible 38 career scores from 43 contests. A matchup nightmare, Gronk will remain a fantasy staple for years to come.

3. Aaron Hernandez, Patriots

Age, supreme talent and a supercharged offense are big pluses. Injuries have proven to be the only drawback: he has yet to play a full season. However, at just 23 years old, we’re sure we haven’t seen the best of Hernandez yet.

4. Kyle Rudolph, Vikings

Rudolph led all TEs in red zone goals (14), tied for second in TDs (9) in 2012. He has built a good relationship with Christian Ponder and should continue to develop his game in his 20s and 20s.

5. Vernon Davis, 49ers

VD shares sank with Colin Kaepernick under center. But a full offseason with the kid should do wonders for him. He remains one of the rarest athletes in the league.

The basics of online sports betting: learning the specific bets

Online sports betting is expanding every day and it’s not hard to understand why. It combines two all-time favorite hobbies: sports and taking risks. Not all of us can play professional sports. Most people can’t take weekly trips to Las Vegas. But thanks to online sports betting you can have the thrill of watching sports and earning money at the same time. All in the privacy of your own home! There is nothing better than that.

Before you start placing bets, you need to understand a few basics. This article gives you an introduction to the terminology used in online gambling. You don’t want to make any bets that you don’t fully understand. This is where I want to emphasize another piece of good advice, always look for the best betting tips and digest those tips before you put any money on the line.

Straight Bets – With a straight bet, you are simply betting that one team will win. The number of points a team wins by does not matter. If the Cowboys and Jaguars are playing, simply bet on the team you think will win. This is the most basic bet.

Betting on the side: This is similar to the previous bets. You are choosing a “side” or a team that you think will win.

Point spread betting – A sportsbook will list which team is the favorite to win a particular game. They will also show the estimated number of points they are expected to earn, which is called the margin. So they’re not just saying the odds are on the Cowboys winning. They will say that the Cowboys are expected to win by 7 or 11 points, etc. If you bet on the Cowboys to win but they only win by 5 then you have not won your bet. They didn’t earn enough to cover the spread.

Against the Spread or ATS – This is similar to the previous bet. Instead of just betting on who will win, you are betting that you will win by more or less than the expected amount. I think you are beginning to see why I insist that you seek out the best sports betting tips. In your research, look for a system, a proven system where the system developer has a dedicated following of winners. I’ll point you to one at the end of this article, but there are dozens more. Find the right one for you.

Over/Under Bets – As well as listing a favorite team and the point spread they are expected to win by, bet makers will also display a total over/under score. This is the total number of points that the teams will score during the game. If the number is 47, then you are anticipating that both teams will score a combined total of 47. If you bet “over”, then you are betting that the total score will be higher than expected. If you bet “under”, then you are anticipating that the total score will be lower.

Parlays – Parlay bets are when you bundle multiple bets on one ticket. Let’s say you make three bets, but instead of placing them separately, you place them all on one ticket. If you win all three, the payout is higher than if you had played each bet separately. However, if you lose even one bet, the parlay is a loser. You must win all bets on the card.

Futures bets or “Futures” bets: A futures bet can be a profitable bet for small bettors, but the odds are high. It involves betting on a game like the Super Bowl while the season is just starting, etc. You are betting on which team will win a future event even before it is decided who will play in the game.

There are many other betting variations, but this gives you the basic online sports betting terminology to understand the most popular bets.

7 Qualities of Winning Athletes

All things being equal, what’s different about winning athletes? When elite athletes are competing, the skill gap between the first and last athlete is relatively small. You’ll have to dig a little deeper to understand what separates the top 1% of elite athletes from the rest.

Bryan Bennett, redshirt rookie quarterback for the University of Oregon Ducks, showed the makings of a great quarterback. He was given the opportunity to play in the game against Arizona State University after Darron Thomas was injured. Many athletes have the physical ability, but it takes more than that to get into a close game and win. “I just tried to stay calm and collected and collected and go out and play football and have fun,” Bennett said.

Proper training builds strength and endurance. Mindset strategies improve focus and build confidence. Both components, physical training combined with mental game strategies, are necessary for high performance.

Elite athletes view performance and victory through a different set of lenses. Where elite athletes put their focus and attention is different from average athletes.

1. Motivation – There is a burning desire to be the best you can be. Being good enough is not enough. Elite athletes have a deep need to always improve, taking their performance to the next level.

2. Initiative: Motivated athletes don’t wait for permission to do something. They are the leaders in everything they do, setting the standard for excellence.

3. No excuses: It takes total commitment to be the best. Instead of seeing obstacles as problems, elite athletes approach them as challenges to be overcome. The goal is the main focus.

4. Determination – All challenges have a solution. Elite athletes actively seek opportunities to help them reach their goal. Failure is not an option.

5. Strengths-Based Approach: Focus on strengths. Elite athletes know where they excel and use that to their advantage. Find the best approach based on your strengths. Also develop the necessary skills to minimize weaknesses.

6. Extra Mile: A strong commitment prepares elite athletes to go the extra mile. Even when no one is looking, they continue to strive to be the best they can be.

7. Tough Minded: Athletes are expected to do things that demand them all the time. Tough-minded athletes recognize the discomfort, but don’t let it stop you. Taking risks and getting out of your comfort zone is part of the champion mindset.

A success mindset comes more naturally to some than others. Fortunately, it is not a birthright. Similar to new techniques and skill sets, a champion mindset can be learned. It could have been easy for Bennett to panic, given the circumstances. It was a high pressure situation. When he rose to the challenge, his teammates responded positively to his confidence and ease.

The champion mindset focuses on solutions, not problems. Elite athletes are creative in their approach to challenges and willing to take risks. Bennett was all about results. The solution-focused attention coupled with a positive mindset affected his approach to a challenging game. He found opportunities to play his “A” game. Bennett’s champion mentality contributed to Pato’s winning game.

Cloudy with a possibility of misinformation

Let me ask you a question. What if the weatherman says that it’s going to snow tomorrow morning and, when you wake up, it’s sunny and dry? Isn’t your world upside down? It isn’t, you say? So let me ask you one more question. Why, if information like this isn’t life-changing, do so many people make it the topic of discussion every time they open their mouths?

What is it about the weather that makes it the default for 97% of all communication with strangers in our society? Is that really the only thing we think we have in common? And what do elevators have that make us talk about time?

“Hello.”
“Hello.” Brrr, it’s cold out there!”
“It is. And I heard it’s supposed to snow all day.”
“Gee. Gotta love winter.”
“Yes! 4 more months of this.”
“Tell me about it.”
“Well, have a good day”.
“You too. Stay warm.”

Honestly, I don’t remember ever having a conversation in an elevator that didn’t revolve around the weather forecast. It seems to be one of those things in our society that we cling to like a smelly old security blanket, full of holes. For some reason, we MUST know what the weather will be like at all times. Not only can we turn on our local news 7 times a day and see what’s happening with our weather, but we can also watch The Weather Channel and never miss a single forecast for the entire world! 24 hours a day, 7 days a week… all the time, all the time! Oh joy!

If that’s not bad enough, we love making sure the weather is part of the negativity we so embrace in our culture. Have you ever stopped to think that a “20% chance of rain” often means there is an 80% chance of sunshine? I haven’t heard any meteorologist say it that way yet.

Do you want to know the weather? Look outside! You know where you live… you know the season… you know the 2-3 possibilities of what the weather will bring on any given day. I’ve worked with enough meteorologists to know there’s a reason it’s called “forecasting” the weather. Why do we feel the need to check the weather several times a day? There are times when you would like to plan something that depends on the weather… I understand. However, just establish a “plan B” and move on!

Well, what’s the point of all this?

Well, for one thing, we let things we can’t control take over our lives. Also, we let inconsequential things affect whether we are miserable or happy. The problem with that is that we often dismiss the positive things that would make us happy, and enhance the negative things that make us miserable by thinking about them.

So how do we change this? Let me assure you, it’s as easy as flipping a switch!

Here are 5 surefire ways to go from negative to positive in 10 seconds:

1. Stop making your life so difficult when you don’t have to. If you are focusing on something you have no control over, stop and focus on what you have full control over. Then take action.

o An example of this might be worrying about the weather forecast for a blizzard in the morning during rush hour. Your thoughts go straight to “I have a meeting at 8:00 am! I’m going to be late! It’s going to spoil the whole day! Everyone will be miserable from the driveway!” Bla bla bla. Wait… let me dry my tears. You have no control over the weather or how other people may or may not react to it, do you? However, if we focus on those things, we get very angry. Annoyed = miserable. So, let’s “flip the switch”. What do you have full control over here? Can you check out half an hour earlier than usual? Can you get your things ready for tonight’s meeting instead of trying to pack up in the morning when you’re already in a rush? Can you choose to listen to something funny on the way to work instead of the depressing and rarely insightful news? SURE YOU CAN! YOU are in full control of those things! Control = happy.

2. You will never change others. Stop trying! Nod your head if necessary and move on. Rarely are the things that surprise us truly shocking. We are who we are and we will never be who we are not. If you’re having a problem with someone else, have the integrity to be honest, be respectful, and agree to disagree.

3. You can always change yourself. Start taking inventory! If you have problems with many people, you may want to consider looking in a mirror. At times, it can certainly seem like you are the only sane person in the room. However, when enough people give you weird looks when you give your 2 cents worth, you may need to figure out how you see yourself in the world. If you get stuck on this, go to someone you can trust to be honest with you. It is said that sometimes the truth hurts. You need to decide if the truth hurts more or less than a negative appearance in the world.

4. Always ask yourself “could it be worse?” Chances are it could be MUCH worse! Every day, you walk past an accident on the side of the road, or hear a helicopter and look up to see Life Flight, or hear that someone you know or care about receives challenging news, such as a death or layoff or illness . Life happens. Be in the moment. Be thankful. Be happy. It could always be much worse.

5. Think about your plan B every time you commit to Plan A. It just makes life so much easier if you were proactive enough to say “what if?” Even if you don’t do something about it, you’ll be more prepared if you’ve thought about it when something happens (that you can’t control) that thwarts your Plan A.

Becoming “happy” is possible for anyone. Getting rid of mental clutter and minutiae is an integral part of that. Here’s a challenge from The Identity Coach: Try following your own weather instinct for a week. You may be surprised how often you are right. And how often are you less stressed about what “could” happen.

The conclusions here are simple: life happens. There are things you have no control over and there are things you have full control over, focus on those things you have full control over. Take some time away from looking at others to look at yourself. Be proactive sometimes instead of always being reactive. Lastly, something I heard my grandmother Estelle say often, “this too shall pass.” Go find joy in your life!

Tigers: a symbol of royalty

They are the symbols of royalty, strength and beauty and are the national animals of India. We are definitely talking about the tigers. Currently, they fall into the category of endangered animals, as they have been hunted by humans on a large scale for their incredible fur that fetches a larger sum of money and their claws and teeth are decorative elements. The massive slaughter of their beautiful animal has decreased their population to the point that they are on the verge of extinction. There are many wildlife reserves, national parks around the world to save this graceful animal from extinction.

The scientific name of the tiger is tiger panther and belongs to the phylum Chordata and class Mammalia. The order Carnivora and the family Felidae make up the entire direction of the tiger. The tiger is native to South and East Asia and is an apex predator and obligate carnivore. The average body size of an adult tiger is 3.3 m and its body weight can be 300 kg. Tigers can be easily identified by the presence of dark vertical stripes on orange-white fur and lighter underparts. The subspecies that comprises the largest population of the tiger is the Bengal tiger and the largest subspecies of tiger is the Siberian tiger. They are very well adapted to their habitats and can be easily found in the Siberian taiga, open grasslands and mangrove swamps. They create their own territories and love to live alone and hunt a wide variety of animals for food. When their prey is scarce, they do not hesitate to attack humans as well. Of the nine modern tiger subspecies, three are completely extinct and the remaining six share the category of endangered animals. Hunting and fragmentation are the main causes of its population reduction. Tigers form the most popular and charismatic megafauna in the world.

The word tiger has its origin in the Greek word tigers which means arrow and refers to the speed of this animal. Tigers were distributed in Asia from the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea to Siberia and Indonesia in the past. During the 19th century, these animals became extinct from western Asia and were confined to a small portion of the surrounding areas. Currently, the only island that provides refuge to the largest number of tigers is Sumatra. The tiger population is also present in India, China and Southeast Asia. Borneo is famous for harboring only tiger fossils. Tigers prefer to live in those areas where there is sufficient green cover, plenty of prey and water resources available. Bengal tigers have a wide range of habitats. They inhabit moist, evergreen, semi-evergreen forests of Assam, mangrove forests of the Ganges delta, deciduous forests of Nepal, and the spiny forests of the Western Ghats. They are strong swimmers and enjoy playing in cold water and can swim up to 4 miles continuously.

Tigers are believed to have evolved from a cat-like tiger. panthera paleosinensis whose remains have been found in China and Java. These cats are believed to have been present two million years ago in the Pleistocene and were smaller than modern tigers. The earliest true tiger fossils are believed to be between 1.6 and 1.8 million years old. Tigers are the most beautiful among all members of the cat family. They have reddish-rusty to rusty-brown fur coats with a white ventral area and a white tinge surrounding the face and black or dark brown stripes on the reddish-rusty fur. The number of stripes differs depending on the subspecies, but each tiger on average has about a hundred stripes. The stripe pattern is characteristic of each tiger subspecies and is used for subspecies identification. The striped body acts as a camouflage weapon and helps the tiger to remain hidden in the vicinity of the prey and helps to get the prey easily with less effort. Tigers have a white spot on the back of their ears called an ocelli that acts as a social symbol and is found on all big cats. The other demarcated characters of tigers include strong lion-like legs and shoulders that help them grab and pull prey heavier and larger than their own bodies. Body size and body weight differ depending on the species. Tigresses are always smaller than males and males are generally 1.7 times larger in size compared to females. This distinction is found in all tiger subspecies. The tiger’s skull closely resembles that of the lion with certain differences including a longer postorbital region.

There are currently nine recognized tiger subspecies of which three are totally extinct. These include the Royal or Bengal tiger, the Indochinese tiger, the Malayan tiger, the Sumatran tiger, the Siberian tiger, and the South China tiger. These are the tiger species that are present today and are looking for means to increase in numbers equivalent to those that occurred in the past. In 1977, the Chinese government passed a law to ban the mass killing of this royal animal, but it was too late and few subspecies had already faced extinction. Extinct subspecies of tigers include the Bali tiger, the Javan tiger, and the Caspian tiger. Tiger hybridization began in the 19th century when lions and tigers were interbred and the resulting offspring were named ligers and tigons. This practice was first tested in zoos and is under strict control by the Chinese government. Liger is the result of the cross between the male lion and the tigress and the tigón is the result of the cross between the male tiger and the female lioness.

The white tiger is the result of a genetic mutation known as chinchilla albinism. White tigers are really rare in the wild and are bred in zoos due to their popularity. The breeding of white tigers may also be responsible for inbreeding. The white tiger is not actually a subspecies, but rather the result of color variation, particularly in Bengal tigers, with only one white tiger occurring in every 10,000 live births. The gene that carries this type of mutation is a recessive gene and is carried by either parent. Another type of recessive genetic mutation is responsible for the birth of golden tabby tigers that have light golden fur, pale yellow legs, and very faint orange stripes. The population of golden tabby tigers is only 30.

Tigers are actually solitary animals but they have well-marked territories. The range of their territories depends on the availability of prey and the access of females. The territory of the tigress can extend up to 20 square kilometers, but the males have larger territories that can extend up to 60-100 square kilometers. When a young tigress makes her territory, she prefers an area close to her mother’s territory, while young males prefer to make her territories in areas devoid of any other males. The males are very violent and often fight over the females. Terrible violent fights occur between the males, especially when the female is in heat and the death of the weaker opponent can also result in such a fight. Tigers mark their territories by spraying urine, anal gland secretion, also feces. They also roar to defend their territories. Tigers generally feed on large and medium-sized animals including chital, gaur, sambar, deer, wild boar, and buffalo. Sometimes they also hunt leopards, pythons to get their food. Old or injured tigers that cannot hunt often feed on humans, like the tigers of the Sunderbans in India, they are man-eaters. Tigers also feed on vegetation for their dietary fiber and fiber from the Slow Match tree is highly preferred. Tigers prefer to hunt at night either alone or in groups and run at a speed of 49 to 65 kilometers per hour. Of twenty hunts, only one resulted in the death of the prey. When hunting larger animals, they tend to grab the throat with the help of the forelimbs, and the prey dies by strangulation. While feeding on smaller animals, they bite at the nape of the neck, sever the spinal cord, or often pierce the spinal cord.

Mating in tigers can occur during the tear, but the preferred months are November and April. Females are receptive for only a short period and within this period mating should take place. A mating pair copulates very frequently and noisily like other cats and the gestation period is 16 weeks. The number of offspring produced can be 3-4 and each of them weighs 1 kg, blind and defenseless. The tigress participates in the care of the young and the father does not participate in the care of the parents. After five months, the tigress will give birth to another litter if the previous ones are lost. The young after 8 weeks come out of the den and are ready to follow their mother. There is only one dominant pup of either sex in the litter. The cubs remain with their mother for up to two and a half years. Females reach maturity at the age of 3-4 years and males at the age of 4-5 years. Throughout her life, the female gives birth to equal numbers of male and female cubs.

The mass killing of tigers for their fur and the destruction of their natural habitat are responsible for the decline in the tiger population. According to the report, in the early 20th century, the total tiger population of 100,000 was reduced to just 2,000 in the wild. India is believed to be home to the largest population of tigers in the world. According to a report by the World Wide Fund for Nature, of the 3,500 tigers in the world, 1,400 are found in India. A huge project titled Project Tiger was started in 1973 with Indira Gandhi’s efforts to save this royal animal and is running successfully till the present. Many national parks have already been established in India for the conservation of tigers. Not only in India but all over the world steps are being taken to save this beautiful animal from extinction.

Tigers are the symbol of strength and are the source of terror. However, they look dangerous but they make our jungles beautiful. Come, let’s save our tigers from extinction.

Well look no further! All the information you need about a Pisces boy is below, and it will help you with your understanding and love.

Pisces men are born between February 19 and March 20. These late winter babies tend to be very expressive and emotional, which can be extremely charming at first, while a relationship develops later on. You have to be prepared for the fact that a Pisces man is not always going to be the rational one and will often let his heart do the thinking before he lets his head do it. Pisces guys love spontaneity and will often make decisions based on the slightest whim, so be prepared for a relationship that can feel like a roller coaster ride at times.

Due to that kind of capricious decision-making that is so common in Pisces guys, they can get into all sorts of trouble. A Pisces man may quit his job because his boss had a strange tone in his voice. He may decide to buy a new car because it is Tuesday and the sun is shining. He may also, unfortunately, be more prone to cheating. Pisces guys are known for not thinking about his decision, and that’s the kind of thing that leads them to make a lot of mistakes. You have to maintain an open and honest relationship with your Pisces lover to avoid these situations. Offer yourself as a sounding board so he knows he can trust you to help him make decisions when he just wants them to be made and move on.

If you’re also a very emotional guy, it can be a bit challenging to maintain a successful relationship with a Pisces guy. While they are spontaneous and playful, they tend to crave structure from a partner that is different. Pisces guys need balance in their lives, and because they can’t provide it on their own, they will look to their loved ones to provide it in the relationship. Keep in mind that he will trust you for much more than a shoulder to cry on from time to time and be prepared when it happens.
