outdoor barbecue

There is no doubt that spring is known for its beautiful flowers and outdoor weather. That’s why everyone should take advantage of this and invite some friends over for a cookout that no one will ever forget. So fire up your grill and follow these easy tips and fabulous recipes to help make your cookout a breeze.

! ! ! Things to think about before your guests arrive:

1. First things first, be sure to scrub down your patio furniture. Nobody wants to sit on dirty furniture. Make sure you also have enough patio furniture for everyone so that once the food is ready to eat, everyone has a seat. If you don’t have enough, simple folding chairs are a quick fix.

2. If you decide to have a party during the afternoon instead of the night, have umbrellas covering your tables or at least make sure you have a shaded area for your guests. Also add some pretty potted plants and flowers on the tables to make it feel more like spring.

3. Evening parties don’t need umbrellas (obviously), but they do need additional lighting. Candles are always a great addition and set the mood for a party. If you are considering candles, you should buy citronella candles to keep those pesky bugs away. You can also put up white Christmas lights or fun, bright patio lights.

4. For silverware and plating ideas, use plastic or paper plates. Find some festive and spring themed paper or plastic plates along with mugs. If you’re going to have margaritas, buy plastic margarita cups in fun colors.

5. Most importantly, remember that timing is everything for this party. Make sure whoever the “grill” is knows what he’s doing and knows exactly how to time all the meats, seafood and vegetables at the right time.

When it comes to food options for a barbecue, people have different tastes and preferences. You can choose to serve the simpler, more predictable foods like burgers, sausages, and hot dogs, or you can get creative and make some fancier grill dishes. Below is a full menu/meal planner for a fancier type of barbecue.

For starters, you need a couple of appetizers for your guests to eat, as grilling can take a while. Here are some recipes that I think would work fantastically:

**Avocado dip with chilies**
Ingredients

2 large ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
1 ripe tomato, diced
1 small sweet onion, diced
15-ounce can green chiles, drained and diced
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
1 teaspoon salt

Addresses

Mash the avocados in a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Serve with tortilla chips.

** Spinach Dip **

Ingredients

1 frozen package. chopped spinach

1 loaf of shepherd’s bread

1 cup sour cream

1 cup mayonnaise

1 envelope dry vegetable soup mix

3 green onions, chopped (optional)

1 small can water chestnuts, chopped (optional)

Addresses

Place the frozen spinach in a colander and run water over it until thawed (or put it in the fridge ahead of time to thaw). While you’re doing this, cut off the top of the bread to make a bowl. Chop the top of the bread and save it to use in the sauce. Scoop out the bottom of the bread to make a place for the sauce. Drain the spinach with your hands to remove all the water. Mix all the ingredients (except the bread) and take to the fridge for at least 4 hours. Fill the bread pan with the sauce and serve with the bread, crackers or vegetables.

Every barbecue has to have some side dishes to accompany your grilled meat or seafood. Here are some recipes I have found for you:

**Classic American Potato Salad**
Ingredients

6 cups quartered unpeeled small red potatoes

3/4 Cup Kraft Mayo Real Mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon Gray Poupon mustard

8 slices Oscar Mayer bacon, cooked crisp, crumbled

1/4 cup chopped fresh chives

Addresses

Add potatoes to boiling water; cook 15 minutes or until tender. To drain. Mix the mayonnaise and mustard in a large bowl. Add potatoes, bacon and chives; mix lightly. Fridge.

**Baked Beans**

Ingredients

1 can (28 oz.) baked beans

1/2 pound bacon, cut into small pieces

1 small onion, chopped

8 oz. brown sugar

1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

A few drops of Worcestershire sauce

Addresses

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour the beans into a 2 qt. container. bread plate Place bacon in 9-inch skillet, completely covering bottom of skillet. Spread the brown sugar over the bacon and cook over medium heat. When the bacon fat begins to bubble through the sugar, transfer it to the saucepan and mix with the beans, onion, and mustard.

**The best corn on the cob**
Ingredients

corn in shell
2 teaspoons butter

Addresses

Pull down on the shells and remove the silk. Brush each ear with about 2 tsp. of butter and pull the shells up around the ears. If they don’t completely cover the corn, that’s okay. The exposed beans will burn and take on that great smoky flavor. Place the corn on a gas grill over medium heat or on a charcoal grate 4 to 6 inches from the medium coals. Grill for 10 minutes, turning ears halfway through cooking time. Spice with salt and pepper.

Now for the main course! I have found a great Grilled Chicken, Steak and Seafood Recipe for you:

8 1-inch-thick bone-in rib-eye steaks (1 pound each)

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

1 teaspoon ground cumin

2 tablespoons kosher salt

Addresses

Prepare the grill for cooking. Let the fillets rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. Mix allspice, cumin, and salt. Pat steaks dry and sprinkle spice mixture on both sides of steaks to lightly coat, pressing to adhere.

Grill steaks in 2 batches on an oiled rack placed 5 to 6 inches above hot coals for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally 2 inches into thickest part of meat registers 130 degrees so that it is medium cooked. Transfer fillets to a plate and let rest 10 minutes.

**Quick Baby Ribs**

1 cup mesquite chips, soaked

1 2 pound slab of baby back ribs

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika

Remove the membrane from the ribs if the butcher has not already done so. Combine salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, and thyme; rub on ribs. Cut the slab of ribs in half. Place the ribs on indirect heat and close the lid. Cook for 20 minutes, then brush with barbecue sauce. Cover and continue cooking for an additional 30 minutes.

**Mesquite Grilled Chicken**

2 teaspoons olive oil or canola oil

1 tablespoon chili powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

3/4 teaspoon prepared mustard

3 tablespoons finely chopped onion

1 pound. boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Addresses

In a jar with a lid, combine all the sauce ingredients. Refrigerate until ready to use. The sauce can be used right away, but the best flavors come from making it early in the day. Prepare the mesquite coals and cover the grill with aluminum foil. Grill the chicken over coals for about 6 minutes. Flip and grill 6 more minutes. Flip again, drizzle with sauce, and cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Flip, baste, and grill 4 to 5 minutes or until chicken is done. Brush generously with the sauce during the last few minutes of cooking.

**Grilled Tuna Steaks**
Ingredients

4 tuna steaks, about 1 1/2 lbs.

1 cup teriyaki sauce

1/2 teaspoon minced garlic

1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled and minced

Mix the teriyaki sauce, ginger and garlic. Add the tuna and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, turning 2-3 times. Preheat grill. Place steaks on grill and cook until done, basting with marinade.

For anyone not really satisfied with this feast of food, here are a couple of dessert recipes for you:

**Fresh fruit pizza**

18 ounce package refrigerated sliceable sugar cookie dough

8 oz. packet cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups of assorted fresh juicy fruits

1/2 cup of orange marmalade

Addresses

Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Grease or spray a 12-inch-diameter pizza pan. Cut cookie dough into 1/3-inch circles. Arrange the biscuit slices in a single layer in the pan and press to form a crust. (Use a little water on your fingertips if needed.) Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes. Cool completely. Transfer to a serving plate or keep on a pizza pan. Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until smooth. Use a spatula to spread the cream cheese over the crust, covering to the edges. Arrange the fruits in a decorative circular pattern around the filling (like a bullseye). Mix the jam and water and heat slightly. Lightly brush over fruit to glaze. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Makes 8-10 servings.

**Guilt Free Watermelon Pie**

Cut between the white rind portion and the red flesh to remove the rind. Mix whipped topping and yogurt. Pat the watermelon cake dry with a paper towel.

Place the watermelon cake on a flat serving plate. Coat top and sides with whipped topping mixture. Decorate to your liking with fresh fruit. Refrigerate until ready to serve. It can be stored for several hours or overnight. Cut into wedges to serve.

Yield: 10 servings

When it comes to drinks, they are just as important as food. Depending on the temperature, outdoor drinks may be more important as your guests need to stay hydrated.

Have some non-alcoholic drinks available, such as lemonade, iced tea, soda, and water. As for alcoholic beverages, beer, wine, margaritas, or some type of fruit punch would be perfect. Just be sure to keep an eye on your ice supply.

Take advantage of the beautiful weather. With time flying these days, winter could be right around the corner.

Feeling down in marriage

I try to write about topics that I hear when talking to other men about their marriages. People often ask me how I have the authority to write about improving marriage when I’m no longer married. My response to that is that I have lived what these men are experiencing, I have shared their emotions, and I have learned from my mistakes. The best teachers are those who have lived, overcome and learned from adversity.

I was on the train recently and ran into a friend, Lester, whom I hadn’t seen in about 6 months. After going over the usual “how’s work,” “how’s family,” and other pertinent questions, I told Lester that he was writing a book to help men in their marriages. You should have seen his face fall!

I said what’s up? He said that he and his wife have absolutely no intimacy anymore. She refuses to go on vacation with him or even spend the night away from home. She said that she is so emotionally frozen towards him that she will not share any intimacy, not even cuddle in bed. His train stop was before mine, so we didn’t get a chance to finish the conversation. But I need to get back in touch with him shortly to see if I can help. Now that my book is only a week away from being available on Amazon, a copy of the first edition might make a nice gift.

This brings me to the topic of this post, feeling down in marriage.

Have you reached the point in your marriage where no matter what you do, your wife will not be loving or share intimacy? As much as you try to be loving and caring, it just doesn’t matter. If so, don’t despair… you’re not alone! I believe that sexless marriages are an epidemic in our society. Men just don’t talk as freely about their marital problems as women. But that is changing. Years ago guys like Lester wouldn’t have told me they weren’t having sex with their wives. But times have changed!

For some couples, nothing you do can reverse the current state of affairs. But you should try to remedy your situation before taking drastic measures, such as divorce or cheating. I know quite a few men whose marriage was on the rocks. But when they changed the way they approached their wives, love and intimacy returned to the relationship.

What is the cure? That’s too much to cover in a single blog post. Hey, I just wrote a 200 page book on it.

But it starts with communication and action. It is necessary to open the communication channels. He lets her wife know how much he loves her and that she wants a loving and mutually satisfying marriage. Ask her what she needs to make that happen. Tell him that you want to start over by letting everything go from the past. If she wants to talk about the problems, she’s fine, as long as you seek to learn from them and have a positive attitude toward the future. In fact, I think it’s very important to have that open discussion so that you can learn from the past and work towards a more harmonious future.

Once you know what she needs, don’t hesitate to tell her that you will do everything possible to change and be aware of her needs. But let her know that if you do that, and be patient during the process, you will have needs from her in exchange for her…and I don’t just mean sex! Men also need to feel appreciated by their wives. So, if appropriate, let her wife know that you would like some positive reinforcement about the things she does for the family and what she does for her as well. When the subject of sex or intimacy comes up, be the man and let him know that intimacy is an important part of marriage. Tell him that you will be patient but that you would really like to try to reopen the channels of love in the marriage.

Take it easy is the rule. Be kind and understanding. Listen carefully to his wife. He spends more time with her. Romance her with fun activities. In time she will see your sincerity in wanting to have a wonderful marriage like the one you envisioned the day you got married.

Teenagers should be able to work during school holidays: what is your opinion?

Today, it is not uncommon to see many adolescents working part-time as promoters or salespeople during school holidays. Parents are willing to allow their children to work part-time so that their children can spend their school holidays well without wasting time surfing the Internet and playing computer games. However, some parents do not allow their children to work part time because they have the fallacy of thinking that their children are not mature enough to work. In my opinion, I partially agree that teenagers should be able to work during school vacations because teenagers can earn their own pocket money, learn extensive work knowledge, and teenagers’ academic performance will be affected.

School vacations are defined as a period for students to rest and get away from the school routine. Whereas, work is known as physical or mental activities performed to fulfill the tasks and is rewarded in monetary terms. One of the points that I will highlight is that teenagers can earn pocket money by working during school holidays. For example, those who work as promoters in shopping malls can earn RM5 per hour as extra income. Thus, the burden on their parents can be reduced as teenagers do not need to ask their parents for pocket money for daily expenses. Teens can even save the money they earn from working to buy needed reference books and stationery. Therefore, parents need not worry about school fees as their children can pay for them on their own. Teenagers can also afford to buy things they crave, like phones, laptops, and shoes. In short, teens should be able to work during school vacations because of the extra income they can earn.

In addition, teenagers can acquire extensive knowledge by working during school holidays. This is because they will have the opportunity to get exposure to working life at a young age. Therefore, they will have more experience and know the ways of dealing with people from different social and financial backgrounds. They also know how to cooperate with other people to complete assigned tasks. Therefore, their social skills can be improved, a measuring stick to reach for the stars in their future jobs. They will be able to express their ideas clearly to their colleagues and supervisors. Teens can also learn ways to use time well, as they need to complete jobs assigned to them by their supervisors in a certain time. Thus, they will learn to be punctual. They will become more independent as they have to look for effective ways to solve whatever problems they face at work. In short, students’ knowledge can be expanded through work and therefore adolescents must work during their school holidays.

However, teens should not spend most of their school vacations working part-time because their academic performance may suffer. Teenagers should spend their school vacations attending more classes or seminars and doing more reviews. As a result, they can prepare for and perform better in their studies. On the contrary, if teenagers spend most of their time working, they will not have time for review and reference book exercises because teenagers who are tired after work cannot concentrate on their studies. Therefore, teens who miss their reviews during school breaks will have a hard time catching up on their studies when the next semester resumes. Your academic results will deteriorate due to lack of reviews. In short, teenagers should not work during school holidays as this disturbs their academic performance.

In conclusion, adolescents should be allowed to work during school holidays so that they can earn additional income and expand their knowledge. On the contrary, it is undeniable that working part-time during the school holidays can affect your academic performance. Therefore, adolescents must tirelessly strive to balance need and desire so that they can perform well academically.

4 Characteristics of Successful Learners of English as a Foreign Language

Why do some students succeed with language learning and others struggle? Successful language learners tend to have four common characteristics.

  • He makes his own opportunities for practice in the use of the language inside and outside the classroom. Practice is the most essential part of becoming a better language speaker. Students who practice unrehearsed language in the classroom are better prepared to speak English outside of the classroom.
  • Learn to live with uncertainty by not getting dazed and continuing to speak or listen without understanding every word. Building trust and not giving up is important for a language student. Students need to understand that they may not know every word that is being said. They should not focus on the words they don’t know, but on the words they do know to understand the overall meaning.
  • Develop intrinsic motivation. It is important that students have a desire to learn a language, in addition to simply passing an exam or fulfilling a requirement. When students are intrinsically motivated, they enjoy classes more and become better at the language.
  • Personal goal sets. It is important for students to set achievable goals, so they can monitor their progress. Goals give students direction and purpose in learning a language. They help students know if they are on the right track or not.

Many EFL students lack intrinsic motivation and goal setting. Students study hard, but mostly they study to pass exams or to please their parents. As a teacher, it is important to remind students of the benefits of studying English to foster intrinsic motivation. The following are some benefits of learning English that can be communicated to students.

  • Communicate with people from other countries.
  • Make friends with people from all over the world.
  • Travel to places around the world and be able to communicate.
  • Understand songs in English and be able to sing them in karaoke.
  • See and understand foreign films.
  • Read Internet sites, books and magazines in English.

Additionally, teachers should encourage students to set personal goals. On the first day of class, the teacher can ask students what they would like to get out of the class other than a grade. From there, students can write a goal that they would like to set for themselves. Goals should be achievable by the end of the semester, so that students can have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the course. Examples of goals might include getting an A in the course, reading a specified number of books in English, keeping a vocabulary notebook and writing a specified number of words, or finding and writing to a friend online once a week.

Xinghaoya Remote Control Vibrating Underwear Review

Xinghaoya Remote Control Vibrating Underwear Review

Vibrating panties are a great option for couple’s sex toys. They give you the freedom to tease your partner without leaving the house and they can deliver mind-blowing orgasms on their own.

Some vibrating panties come with special underwear that has a pocket for the toy, while others can be worn with any pair of underwear. Some also have a discreet remote that is quiet enough for public play.

Easy to use

Vibrating panties are a hot new toy that’s causing all kinds of buzz. These sexy and secretive toys are ideal for couples or singles looking to spice up their sexual play. They are discreet, easy to use, and provide powerful orgasms. But if you’re trying them out for the first time, it can be intimidating to know how to use them and which settings are best. Sex educator Marla Renee Stewart, MA explains that experimentation is key, and it’s important to find out what feels right to you.

One of the most popular clitoral remote control vibrator is Juno, which has a slim butterfly-style vibe that slides into a lace thong. The silicone body of the vibe is shaped to follow the curves of the clitoris and stimulate it at all angles. Juno also has a ring for more targeted stimulation, and it’s designed to be used with lube for maximum pleasure.

Another option is Lovetoy’s remote-controlled bullet vibrator panty vibe, which has a more conventional shape. It’s designed to be worn under a pair of lingerie, and it has a magnet to stay in place. It can be used with a lube or on its own, and it has 10 pleasure modes for all kinds of sensual experiences. The toy is compatible with the Vibease app for long-distance control.

Discreet for public play

Vibrating panties are a great option for a hands-free orgasm. These vibrators slip into your underwear and can be controlled from a remote or app. They’re also discreet, and the sexy vibes can be enjoyed alone or with a partner. However, there are some things to consider before you decide on a pair of vibrating panties.

Unlike a vibrator attachment or dildo, panty vibes are designed to slip into your pants, so you can enjoy hands-free pleasure while in public. They’re also a lot more discreet than a traditional masturbation toy, and you can even wear them while doing chores.

This cute little vibe looks like a petal and slips into your underwear to stimulate your clitoris. It’s also discreet, and you can control it with a remote or an app. Plus, it has 15 vibration patterns to explore and can be used in the shower or bath.

Another panty vibe is the Cal Exotics Lock-N-Play panty teaser, which locks onto your underwear with magnetic wings reminiscent of a maxi pad. It’s small enough to wear during penetrative sex or under clothes, and you can use the included remote to cycle through its 12 modes.

You can also try a dildo-shaped vibe like the Dame Eva, which is a lot more discreet than a bullet or ring. It’s made of a soft material that feels good against the skin and features a nub for tactile stimulation. It’s also waterproof and a great choice for travel.

Waterproof

Unlike traditional sex toys, vibrating panties take the orgasm game to a whole new level. They come with a small yet powerful vibrator that fits into a pocket sewn into the one-size-fits-all tie-side panty. They can be worn alone or with lingerie, giving the wearer a range of sensations. You can even use them with a partner to share control of the panty’s clitoral stimulator.

The sleeve that holds the bullet vibrator inside these stretchy panties is made from body-safe silicone and can be adjusted to fit your erogenous zones. It’s also waterproof, with a sleek storage pouch and travel lock function. The toy bullet can be pressed manually or controlled with the remote. It is fairly quiet in terms of discretion, producing 60 dB at its loudest.

The Satisfyer vibrating panties are a little more expensive than other options, but they offer a lot of fun for your money. You get a total of three patterns and five intensity settings for the bullet and can operate it manually or remotely with a remote. The batteries are rechargeable, and the manufacturer claims you can get up to 3 hours of play after a charge. However, this battery-powered panty teaser can be a bit frustrating to use due to its slow response time and lack of compatibility with music that has a mellower or more romantic sound.

Rechargeable

When it comes to clitoral stimulation, quality vibrations are the most important factor. Deep rumbly sensations are preferred over buzzy ones that feel like itching. The best remote control vibrators provide a variety of rhythms and intensity levels to suit every taste. This makes them an excellent aphrodisiac and also a fun toy for couples to play with.

The Xinghaoya multifunctional wearable sex toy is a discreet way to get pleasure from masturbation in public. This silky soft silicone vibrator can be tucked into the crotch of panties or lined-crotch yoga pants for a sexy secret that’s perfect for intimate play at home, work, a party, or anywhere in between. It can even be used in the shower, tub, or hot tub for a wet clitoral delight.

To use the Xinghaoya cletoral vibrator, simply slip it into your panties or lined-crotch yoga attire and tie the side ties to ensure a snug fit. Then, either you or your partner can control the remote, which has 15 vibration patterns and intensities. This product is phthalate-free, USB chargeable (both the remote and bullet vibrator), waterproof, and body safe.

The Feelingirl wearable 2-in-1 vibrator takes a different approach to the panty vibe. Instead of using the panty vibrator to hold the bullet vibrator in place, it uses a special black lace underwear with a space for the vibrator that follows the curves of the body to stimulate the clitoris. The lace panties also have an opening to keep the vibrator affixed and secure in the crotch area.

High School Homeschooling: Making a Four Year Plan

Before you start homeschooling your ninth grader, you and your child should sit down and plan, in general, what you will cover for the next four years. If you have already started high school, making this plan should be a priority. In Washington state, an independent home schooling family must complete courses that approximate the courses that public school students in their school district must complete before graduation. If you are home schooled through a private extension program, you are responsible for meeting the graduation requirements of that private school. Other states will have other guidelines, but they should be similar. Make sure you are aware of those guidelines from your state homeschool organization. They often have that information on their website.

Most states would have similar graduation requirements. This can also vary depending on what the student plans to do after graduation. First, find out your state’s minimum graduation requirements. Second, find out what students planning to attend a community college need to do. Finally, find out the requirements for students planning to start at a four-year university.

Another variable is how credits are counted. Traditionally, a one credit class in high school meets for 50 minutes for 180 days. These credits count 150 clock hours as one credit, which equals 50 minutes times 180. Schools have diversified this standard, so make sure you know how it will be counted in your state or school district. For the purposes of this article, we’ll assume a credit as 150 clock hours. College-bound students must earn approximately six credits each of the four years of high school, or three each semester. Most classes are one credit, but some are half.

In general, students are required to earn 3-4 credits (or years) of English and math. History or related classes spanned 2.5-3 years, including state history (if not taken in high school or middle school), US history, and world history (and/or geography, government, economics). Laboratory science and math-based science are essential for those entering a related area at university. Students need two to three years of science. Other requirements or electives include physical education, health, occupations, world languages, and fine arts.

Other important considerations include:

  • “What does the student plan to do beyond high school?”

  • If you are going to college, “What are the college requirements for admission?”

  • Whether or not he goes to college, “What job skills can the student learn to gain work experience and a means to help pay for college?

Homeschooling families can get help with these steps with variations of these two:

1. Find a consultant to help you with your initial planning and anytime you need help.

2. Find a private school extension program to plan with you and provide ongoing guidance and possibly accredited diplomas.

A winning strategy for the Mexican train dominoes

I know that Mexican Train is a friendly game, often played with family and friends, and that winning is not critical or very important. That is important is the social aspect of the game: talking, laughing and having fun.

Having said that, I also know that there are people who would really like to get better at this game. Especially if the friendly people you play with are winning more often than you are and you’re starting to get angsty and depressed about it.

Winning the game of Mexican Train Dominoes is not as difficult as you think. There are some simple tips that can have a dramatic effect on the outcome of the game. Whether you’re a beginning player, an intermediate player, or an advanced player, you’ll still benefit from these strategic tips.

Mexican Train has many rule variations that are used around the world, however most of my strategy advice applies to all of the most popular rulesets and I have noted in the text where strategy may vary for different rules.

Arrange your dominoes in the best possible train

Of course, each hand begins by “dealing” a number of dominoes to each player. Depending on how many people are playing, this number can range from 7 or 8 to 15 or so. The actual number is not relevant. But it is very important to arrange your dominoes in the best possible train before you start playing.

Once you or anyone else has played the starting double, build a train out of the remaining dominoes that starts with the same pip value as the starting double, and connect as many dominoes as possible to that train.

To really calculate the best possible way to arrange a player’s dominoes, one would need to consider every domino that has been played so far and do a bit of math to calculate the probabilities. The best play at any point in the game depends on what has been played up to that point. Since this is not realistic, I prefer to “approximate” the best train using these 3 basic rules:

  1. The train with more dominoes is better.
  2. Given 2 trains of equal length, the train with the most points is the best.
  3. Given 2 trains of equal length and the same point value, the better train has dominoes with higher point value placed as far forward on the train as possible.

Play your spares first whenever possible

Playing a spare is your first order of business. If there is no possible game from the spares, then play from your train.

If you have spares, play from the end of your train whenever possible

This is very important! Your first option is to play with your spares, but your second option is to play from the end (caboose) of your train. You will find many occasions where you play from the end of your train, and suddenly one of the spares can fit on the end. This has the same effect as touching a spare.

Be on the lookout for opportunities to change your caboose

If the last domino in your train is a 10-4, and one of your spares is 10-2, and you can play on an opponent’s marked train (when I say “marked train”, I mean a train of players that is open for anyone to play), or on the Mexican train, play the 10-4 and move the 10-2 to the end of your train. If someone leaves before you, you have saved 2 points. This is so commonplace that over the course of an entire game, you’ll likely save yourself dozens of points.

If you have spares, and the Mexican (or community) train hasn’t started, and one of your spares (or its caboose) can start it, then start it!

The Mexican (or Community) Train is the most common place to unload your spare parts. You can’t do that if it hasn’t started yet. So, given the choice to play on a penny from the opponents, or start the Mexican train, start the Mexican train. But this is only if you have spare parts to play with. If all your dominoes are on your train, then you don’t need the Mexican train, so don’t start it.

Know when to play on your own marked train vs. another train when you have the option.

Sometimes you will be faced with the choice of playing dominoes on your own marked train, OR on another player’s marked train, or on the Mexican Train. You don’t want to play on your own train, thus taking away your penny, unless you have another dominoes that you can play on your own train.

For example, suppose you only have one domino left, the double 6, your train is marked (there is a penny on it), and it is your turn. You can’t play double-6 so you have to draw. Ties at 10-8. Let’s say the end of your own train is a 10 and the end of the Mexican Train is a 10. So you have a choice. You can play 10-8 on your own train (taking away your penny) or on the Mexican train.

The correct choice is to play the 10-8 on the Mexican Train, not alone. This will keep your own train marked and available to the other players, thus improving the chance that you will play the double 6 and get out.

Play mercilessly!

If the Mexican train is stuck, that is, no one is playing on it and you have no spare parts, then don’t play on the Mexican train from the end of your train. You want it to stay stuck so the other players can’t play on it either.

If you have the option of playing a domino on one of two opponents’ marked trains, choose the opponent with the most dominoes to play.

If you do No you have spares, so you’re just playing your train, and the end of your train would fit into an opponent’s marked train, don’t play it. Why take off an opponent?

If you’re playing by the rules that say doubles No they have to be covered, here’s another tip: play doubles as soon as possible, even from your train.

You should play a double as soon as possible. Playing a double from the middle of your train does not destroy the integrity of your train. It just reduces the total point of your hand. When someone else leads, you don’t want to be caught with a double in your hand that you could have played earlier in the hand.

Conclusion

There is certainly luck involved in Mexican Train, but luck tends to even out over time, and everyone gets their fair share of good and bad luck.

So while my strategy tips won’t guarantee a win every time, they do promise to improve your game, and most likely improve it to the point where you win more often than your opponents.

More commonly known as “Chiari malformation,” Arnold-Chiari syndrome is a brain disorder caused by a malformed cerebellar tonsil that causes part of it to protrude toward the base of the skull, through the occipital cavity, or foramen magnum. This defect can slow the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in a person’s spine, as well as put pressure on brain tissue.

As Arnold Chiari I Syndrome evolves in the patient, diagnosis becomes a challenging task. However, the complications and risks involved are considerable. The experience can be very difficult, especially for patients who are used to an active lifestyle, live alone, or play a significant role in supporting their families.

Currently, there are four types of Chiari malformations recognized by the medical community. While types 2, 3, and 4 commonly occur in infants and children, Arnold-Chiari I syndrome is found more often in adults, and most patients don’t realize they have the condition. Most patients find out they have Chiari malformation after they start to feel symptoms or after an exam for an unrelated medical condition.

While speech therapy and physical therapy can help stop the complications that arise from the Type 1 condition, they do not directly address the root cause, which is the blockage caused by the cerebellar tonsils. Patients who are severely debilitated from the most severe symptoms may need surgery to help relieve the pressure imposed by the tonsils.

Surgery is the only suitable course that can directly address this problem, which normally takes the form of a decompressive craniectomy. In this procedure, the surgeon removes a section of the skull to reduce swelling in the brain. While the procedure has been successful in reducing complications from other brain injuries, it carries considerable risks, including brain abscesses, cerebral edema, and meningitis.

However, there are medical institutions that specialize in Chiari malformation research and have developed new surgical procedures that result in reduced postoperative trauma and shorter recovery times for the patient.

One such treatment for Arnold-Chiari I syndrome currently under review involves treating not the skull, but the filum terminale that anchors the spine. This procedure has been successfully performed during surgery on over 1,000 patients, but is typically only performed by clinics that specialize in treating people suffering from Chiari, scoliosis, and similar spinal disorders.

Planning a baby shower with cookie cutter

Do you need a new idea to plan a unique baby shower? Use a cute cookie cutter as a starting point for a simple yet creative and inexpensive baby shower. For example, a baby duck cookie cutter can be used to make invitations, favors, and food while matching the theme.

cookie cutter options
The first step is to choose the cookie cutter. You’ll find a wide variety at bakery and craft stores, as well as online. Cute ideas include animals, bugs, or a classic baby shower umbrella. How about a kitten, puppy, lamb, bunny, teddy bear, baby footprint, handprint, bottle, star, ladybug, bumblebee, or butterfly? If the party will be held close to a holiday, you may want to go with a matching theme such as a pumpkin, gingerbread boy or girl, shamrock, heart, Easter egg, or spring chick.

invitations
Once you have chosen your cookie cutter, you will need to choose cardstock or cardstock. You can buy white and decorate with colored pens or markers, or you can buy cardstock in a suitable color, like yellow for a baby duck theme. Also buy enough envelopes to fit a cookie cutter size invitation.

Next, place the cookie cutter on the cardstock and trace around it with a light pencil. Repeat this as many times as necessary for the correct number of invites. Cut out the invitations, decorate if desired with colored pencils, markers, or crayons. Remember that the more childish it looks, the better!

Fill in the necessary party information such as the day, date, time, location, and who the party is honoring. Include registration information, if applicable. Send out invitations at least two to three weeks in advance and include an RSVP date, as well as your phone number and/or email.

Place cards or name tags
Again, simply trace around the cookie cutter on suitable paper or cardstock to make unique, theme-fitting place cards or name tags. Cut these out, then write the names.

food
What are you going to serve in this cookie cutter baby shower? Cookies of course! But that is not all. You can use your cookie cutter to cut fancy little sandwiches. You can even use the cookie cutter as a template to easily decorate the cake. For example, bake a cake, cover it with blue frosting, then gently press a baby duck cookie cutter onto the top of the cake (several times, if there’s room), then remove. Now you have an easy pattern to follow! Simply fill the shape with yellow icing in a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Suddenly you have a duckling swimming in a blue pond!

decorations
Use a blank roll of paper and blank tablecloths and get to work tracing that cookie cutter to make a special banner and themed tablecloths.

cookie eating contest
This board game is a riot. It will make you feel like a kid again! Bake cookies with holes so they can be hung from an overhead beam of some sort in the party room. Guests line up, one on each hanging cookie, and the bridesmaid counts to three. At three o’clock, the guests start gobbling down their cookie as best they can, hands behind their backs! The first guest to finish their cookie wins! You will want to take photos of this game!

Game “Decorate your cookie”
This gives the guests something to do while the woman of honor opens the presents. Provide an assorted assortment of cheap plastic decorating bags filled with colored icing. Give each guest a cookie and have them decorate it in any way they choose. When finished, each person hands you the cookie and you will place it on a pre-numbered sheet (one number for each cookie). Tell the guest to remember the number that her cookie is placed on.

When the bridesmaid is done opening the presents, she will choose her favorite decorated cookie from the tray. The guest who decorated it wins a special prize. But everyone wins a consolation prize: They get to take the cookie home (or eat it right away).

Note: Placing each cookie on a number makes it anonymous so no one can accuse the maid of honor of playing favorites!

party favors
If you’re looking for ideas for additional favors besides the cookies themselves, keep reading. For simple yet delicious favors, use light pink, blue, or yellow ribbon to tie a cookie cutter to a sugar cookie recipe for each guest. Alternatively, forego the cookie cutters, if they’re too expensive, and only give well-printed recipe cards.

And this is how you organize a baby shower that will be unique, memorable, fun and delicious!
