Fantasy Football Rankings – Top 30 Quarterbacks

1. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints

The Saints still can’t run the ball and their defense isn’t strong, meaning Brees will be forced to throw for big yards every game.

2. Peyton Manning-Denver Broncos

Denver plays a lot of easy defenses and the Broncos have upgraded their passing corps by signing Wes Welker in the offseason.

3. Tom Brady – New England Patriots

Everyone is worried about Welker’s departure, Hernandez’s arrest and Gronkowski’s firing, but Brady wears scrubs year after year and makes stars out of them.

4. Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers

The Packers are going to have offensive line issues this year, but Green Bay can’t run the ball and Rodgers will be forced to pass a lot.

5. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons

Last season was the first year Atlanta switched to a vertical passing attack and Ryan should be even better in Year 2.

6. Colin Kaepernick-San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are going to rely on Kaepernick’s arm and legs this year and he’s one of the few QBs in the NFL who can stay healthy.

7. Robert Griffin III – Washington Redskins

Griffin III will put up big numbers as long as he can stay on the field, but one has to wonder how he’ll bounce back from knee surgery.

8. Eli Manning – New York Giants

A healthy Hakeem Nicks should be all Eli needs to bounce back into the top 10 rankings for fantasy quarterbacks.

9. Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers

Newton is a much better fantasy quarterback than the NFL quarterback and should be back rushing for yards and touchdowns while costing the Panthers wins with his turnovers.

10. Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions

The Lions lost Titus Young, which hurts, but Stafford still has Calvin Johnson for big plays.

11. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys

Dallas should be a better team on both sides of the ball this year and Romo will bump up the stats if you don’t mind high interceptions.

12. Sam Bradford – St. Louis Rams

St. Louis plans to spend a ton this year and they have a number of young sprinters for Bradford to find openings.

13. Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts

Luck should have another strong year and you have to like the fact that the Colts play a lot of poor defenses.

14. Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears

Cutler and the Bears’ offense struggled last season, but the playmakers are still around and should bounce back.

15. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers

Rivers will need to pass to keep his team in games as the defense doesn’t look great in San Diego this year.

16. Alex Smith – Kansas City Chiefs

I have Smith taller than most and it’s thanks to Andy Reid’s offense that has consistently produced great passing results in Philadelphia.

17. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh will look to set up the run more this year, making Roethlisberger more of a fantasy backup than a starter.

18. Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals

Dalton makes too many mistakes, but the Bengals have great pass catchers and this guy is also capable of running.

19. Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens

Flacco lost Boldin and now Dennis Pitta at tight end and will have more trouble without his more consistent weapons.

20. Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals

Coming out of Oakland and having Larry Fitzgerald to pass by should make Palmer a backup fantasy QB worth having this season.

21. Matt Flynn-Oakland Raiders

Flynn will have plenty of fast weapons to throw if the offensive line can keep him off long enough to look downfield.

22. Josh Freeman – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Freeman is in danger of losing his starting job and Doug Martin is the focal point of the offense, but this gunslinger could be in the top 15 if he isn’t replaced.

23. Matt Schaub – Houston Texans

The Texans just don’t pass enough to give Schaub more value, but he’s a very consistent quarterback.

24. Jake Locker – Tennessee Titans

Locker will make mistakes, but he’s capable of making plays with his legs, which helps value his fantasy football.

25. Christian Ponder – Minnesota Vikings

The opposing defenses will focus on stopping the running game, which should open up the field for Ponder.

26. Michael Vick – Philadelphia Eagles

Vick has a chance to be taller, but there’s really no reason to believe he starts more than 8 games since he’s not a smart quarterback and gets injured regularly.

27. Brandon Weeden-Cleveland Browns

The Browns are an up and coming team and Weeden would be ranked higher if he didn’t have to face the Steelers and Ravens 4 times a year.

28. Mark Sanchez – New York Jets

The Jets won’t go through as well, but Sanchez should win the starting job and be a capable fantasy backup in the deep leagues.

29. Ryan Tannehill – Miami Dolphins

Miami is going to be terrible and Tannehill won’t have time to pitch even with some good new weapons available to him as a wide receiver.

30. Blaine Gabbert – Jacksonville Jaguars

Gabbert has the arm strength but lacks the football savvy and many are giving up hope that he will acquire them anytime soon.

Reasons to make the University of Oregon your university of choice

Even though I graduated from the University of Oregon and went back there to complete my master’s degree, that’s not the main reason I encourage young people to become students there. The truth is that there are several good reasons to choose the University of Oregon and I would like to share some of them here.

1. Location and some things that the University of Oregon has to offer

The University of Oregon is located in Eugene, Oregon, a city of just over 100,000 people about 100 miles south of Portland, Oregon’s largest city. The climate is moderate with a very few days a year of freezing weather and a very few days of extremely hot weather. Ocean beaches are just over an hour away, and mountain lakes are about the same distance in the opposite direction. I-5, a major highway that runs along the east side of the city, makes the University one of the most accessible universities in the state.

The City of Eugene is an active community that offers something for everyone. If you like the outdoors, Eugene is noted for its many miles of bike trails, especially the scenic ones along the banks of the beautiful Willamette River.

During the year, running is often highlighted as Eugene claims to be the Running Capital of the World. The Olympic Track and Field Trials were held at the University last summer, so that title may be more than just wishful thinking.

Art shows and music festivals abound. The Hult Center for Performing Arts in downtown Eugene has something going on every day of the week, and people come from all states (and some nearby states) to attend the annual Bach Festival there.

Eugene offers excellent restaurants for every taste imaginable.

Lane Community College, an excellent Junior College is located on the outskirts of the city and offers an extensive program of technical courses, as well as university transfer classes for those who prefer to start their college education at a smaller institution. (See the link to the Lane Community College website for more information.)

Every fall, the Eugene Celebration draws huge crowds who turn out, rain or shine, to choose that year’s Slug Queen, a rather dubious honor, but it’s all in good fun. The festival continues with many other activities to capture the minds of those not interested in Slug royalty and it’s an experience that will leave you looking forward to next year’s festival.

There are two main hospitals in the area, and medical care is available in almost all parts of the city. An award-winning newspaper, The Eugene Register Guard, effectively covers the news, both local and national.

2. A bit about the program, the faculty and the size of the University of Oregon

Known for its excellence, the University of Oregon offers professional programs such as journalism, education, law, performing arts, music, architecture, planning, and public policy. It is a leading liberal arts and sciences university and has been ranked by US News & World Report as one of America’s Best Universities not just once but multiple times.

The faculty at the University of Oregon is outstanding, often attracting notable scholars who have taught at top universities across the country. Student enrollment for 2010 is expected to be approximately 21,000.

According to the University’s website, 7 governors of the state of Oregon have been elected 7 from among the graduates of the University of Oregon; two faculty members have been Nobel Prize winners, ten have been Pulitzer Prize winners, 19 have been Rhodes Scholars, and 129 faculty members have been Fulbright Scholars. Many other faculty members have also received various illustrious awards.

The University of Oregon has been recognized for having a higher percentage of its students join the Peace Corps than any other university in the nation. More than 2,000 of its graduates have joined.

3. Tuition fees and student housing for 2010

In today’s economic climate, tuition costs have become a very important consideration when choosing a college. The University of Oregon is about equal to other state universities of the same size when it comes to college costs. Tuition for fall 2010 is estimated to be around $7,428, with another $1,050 for books and supplies. Students who will need financial aid or scholarships are urged to visit their website to see what is currently available.

It is difficult to estimate the cost of housing, as much depends on whether a student plans to live in a college dorm, share an off-campus apartment or house with a friend, or live with their own family members.

Luxury dormitories and apartments in the immediate area of campus are available to those who can afford them, but there are plenty of off-campus rentals as well. Unless you have a relative you plan to stay with in the area, your best bet is to contact the campus housing director, who can help match your needs with what’s available at any given time.

4. Transportation around campus and the city.

The University of Oregon isn’t closed to traffic like many universities are these days, but sometimes it can be hard to find a parking space. Students can request parking stickers, but the parking areas fill up quickly as they operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. If possible, students are encouraged to use alternative means of transportation, such as bicycles or the public transportation system that has bus stops at most corners of the campus area.

The public transportation system is far reaching, even going to several nearby cities, so traveling around the area is quite easy. Students can purchase tokens at a discounted price, and a printed schedule is available so riders can plan ahead for bus arrival and departure times, transfers, and routes that may not run after certain hours at night. or on holidays.

5. Sports

Autzen Stadium, the University’s soccer facility, has been recognized as one of the top ten in the United States and construction has recently broken ground on a new multi-million dollar basketball facility. The University of Oregon Track and Field program is known not only throughout the United States, but throughout the world.

Noted athletes like Olympian running back Steve Prefontaine, NFL stars Joey Harrington, Alkili Smith, and Dan Fouts, track star Alberto Salazar, and many, many more have been students at the University of Oregon. Nike CEO Phil Knight has been and continues to be very active in promoting and contributing to the athletic program at the University of Oregon.

The University of Oregon does not focus on any one particular sport, but offers fifteen different sports programs for men and women. Unlike many other universities, the University of Oregon sports program is not only self-supporting, but contributes approximately $5 million a year to academic programs in other areas of the University.

6. churches

Eugene, where the University of Oregon is located, has many churches to choose from, as well as two Bible colleges within walking distance. In fact, North West Christian University is right next to the University of Oregon, so it would be easy to enroll in classes at both schools at the same time. Eugene Bible College, affiliated with Bible Standard Churches, is a short drive from downtown.

There are even more good reasons to choose the University of Oregon as the perfect place to continue your post-high school education, but the ones provided above should be enough to convince you to take a second, and maybe even a third look. . Below is a link to the University of Oregon website so you can study their programs in more depth and determine if it really is the best fit for you.

Ness’s Notes (August 29)

I think Carson Palmer is healthy! Playing in his first game since his knee injury in last season’s playoffs, Palmer threw three touchdown passes (9-of-14 for 140 yards) Monday as the Bengals beat the Packers 48-17. He is the first player to throw for three touchdowns in a preseason game this year, as the Bengals advanced to 3-0 for the first time in a preseason game since 1976. The win also guarantees the team its first winning preseason since 1988.

My free play for Tuesday is with the NY Yankees over the Det Tigers at 7:05 ET. My 9-0 win over the A’s last night (MLB Las Vegas Insiders is now 9-1 since Aug. 5!) increases my streak in all sports to 20-6 since Aug. 18. I look forward to continuing my 10-2 MLB record since Aug. 21 tonight, with two blockbuster 15* plays. My underdog of the month and a rare “Road Warrior” play. Get them BOTH, right now!

The Bengals ended a 14-year playoff drought last season by going 11-5 and winning the AFC North. However, they lost their wild card game at home to the Steelers 31-17, in a game in which Palmer was injured on his first pass attempt of the contest. Last night’s game rounded out the Week 3 action as the home teams finished 11-5 SU and 10-6 ATS. They are 30-18 SU over three weeks with ATS records of 26-21-1.

The Bengals’ 48-point effort surpassed their 44-point effort in Week 2 (they beat the Bills in Buffalo, 44-31), for the most points scored by any team this preseason. The Patriots, in their 41-0 shutout of the Redskins on Saturday night, are the only other team this year to reach the 40-point mark. New England’s 41-point victory marked the largest preseason margin of victory by any NFL team since the Seahawks defeated the Colts 45-3 in 1997 (before Peyton).

Only one team scored as many as 30 points in Week 1 (the Jags in their 31-26 win in Miami), seven teams scored at least 30 in Week 2, and in Week 3 four teams scored at least 30 points. Adding in the HOF game, there have been 21 overs and 28 unders so far. Five teams remain undefeated, with the Raiders leading the game at 4-0. All five teams have also combined to go 16-0 ATS. Four teams remain without a win, with a combined ATS of 1-11.

Those numbers make sense, as in 49 preseason games this year, 45 of SU’s 49 winners have also been ATS winners in their games. Week 4 begins with 12 games on Thursday, August 31, and concludes with four games on Friday, September 1. The 2006 NFL regular season begins on Thursday, September 7, when the Steelers host the Dolphins at 8:30 ET on NBC.

MLB ratings

The Marlins extended MLB’s longest active winning streak to eight straight games by beating the Brewers 4-2 last night. Florida rebounded from an 11-31 start to finish 53-35 (the Marlins also opened 2-13 at home, but have since gone 33-17) and are now just two games away. for the Reds in the NL wild card race. The National League wild card race will drag on into the closing days of the season, as six teams are currently within 2 1/2 games of the lead.

The longest active losing streak in MLB is just four games, a mark held by five teams. The Red Sox are one of those teams with four straight losses, the third time this month the team has gone on a losing streak of at least four games. Boston has lost 12 of 15 and its 8-19 mark in August is the worst in ML. Speaking of losing streaks, the Mariners ended one of epic proportions last night.
Felix Hernandez pitched a five-hitter for his first career shutout, leading Seattle over the Los Angeles Angels 2-0 and ending the Mariners’ 20-game losing streak against the AL West. Seattle’s losing streak was the longest against division rivals since Major League Baseball split into divisions in 1969. It matched the 1969 Montreal Expos’ streak against the National League West for longest losing streak against teams of any division.

Seattle’s previous victory against an American League West team came on June 11, when it completed a three-game sweep of the Angels. Monday’s game took just 1 hour, 51 minutes, the fastest in the history of Safeco Field, which opened in July 1999 and was Seattle’s fifth straight win, tying a season high. Another noteworthy game last night was Oakland’s 9-0 win over the Red Sox.

Esteban Loaiza pitched seven shutout innings against the Red Sox, allowing just one earned run in 30.2 innings over his last four starts, for a 0.29 ERA. No other pitcher has allowed just one earned run in 30 innings in four starts this season. Four pitchers did it last year: Jae Seo, Chris Carpenter, Mark Buehrle and Kenny Rogers.

Loaiza’s career may recall something of Cory Lidle’s season for the A’s in 2002. Loaiza posted a 6.41 ERA in 87 innings before his hot streak began. Lidle had a 5.15 ERA in 113.2 innings in 2002, then didn’t allow an earned run in 38 innings over his next five starts, and just one earned run in 45 2/3 innings over his next six starts.

Other than those two A’s pitchers, no one else in the past 30 years has had a streak of four starts with zero or an earned run in at least 30 innings, after posting an ERA over 5.00 in at least 75 innings in the A’s. season the streak began.

It’s another full 15-game MLB schedule tonight, highlighted by the Tigers and Yankees in New York at 7:05 ET in the opener of their three-game series. Detroit (82-49) and New York (77-52) have comfortable leads in their divisions, but the Yankees have managed to move within four games of the Tigers for the best record in the American League. New York has gained ground on Detroit by going 27-16 since the All-Star break, while the Tigers are 23-20.

Nate Robertson (11-10, 4.10) was one of the leaders in the Tigers’ surprising start to the season, going 8-3 with a 3.14 ERA in his first 16 starts. However, he is 3-7 with a 5.50 ERA in his last 10 outings heading into tonight’s game. The Yankees go with Chien-Ming Wang (15-5, 3.81 ERA). Wang has a 4.88 road ERA but is 9-1 at home in 13 starts (Yankees are 11-2) with a 2.66 ERA.

Ness Notes is available Monday through Friday at 1:00 ET.

Make them say ouch!

A lot of people spend a lot of time talking about the “X’s” and “O’s” and the details of the plays in soccer. But there is something that is often overlooked, but that will actually determine who wins and who loses in most soccer matches. It’s mental toughness.

Coach Paterno would tell us that in a close soccer game, where both teams are tied, the team that makes the other team say “ouch” is the team that will win the game. Keep in mind that I’ll take your best shot and get up anyway. You can write me down, but I’ll come back and answer your score. You can punch me in the mouth on one play, but you better enjoy the feeling, because I’ll be back on the next. This is the mentality of a mentally tough team.

It’s sad to say that it’s rare to see tough players these days, let alone tough teams. I’m talking about people who have a focus to not stop or relax until they have achieved their goals as a team. During our undefeated season in 1994, we made the decision as an offense to put the game out of reach for halftime. That didn’t mean it always happened. But it did mean that we were committed to more than just winning, but to dominating our opponents. If the other team felt they could have won the game, then we didn’t make them say ouch. To dominate in soccer is to make the other team want to leave the field and look at the clock in the hope that it will speed up to 0:00.

Coach Paterno was telling us to line up, run our play, hit the other team, knock them down, help them up, and knock them down again! Being mentally strong means that your team will work so that the other team doesn’t want to get up after the play. I’m not talking about playing dirty or outside the rules of the game. I’m talking about being physical and willing to hit and take a hit.

I remember during a 2-minute drill against Indiana, I caught a pole up the middle to get us into field goal range. The safety punched me in the back when I went up to catch the ball. I knew immediately that she was hurt. I could feel my ribs crush from the blow. But I wasn’t going to give the other team the satisfaction of knowing they were hurting me. I got up as fast as I could and ran to the sideline as the field goal team came onto the field. As soon as I was out of sight of a sideline camera, I screamed in pain! I ended up having to take a pain shot at half time to end the game.

Why was it important for me to get up? Because I wanted to tell the other team by lifting me up, that their best shot can’t stop me! I can take it, get up and make another play. Over the course of a game, that fact will cause your team to maintain its momentum, while at the same time causing the other team to lose hope. Once a team loses hope, there’s no way they can win a game.

Is Network Marketing Really That Bad?

What is the problem with network marketing and MLM?

Let me start by being very clear about something before I get into the hot topic.

There is no such thing as a “Network Marketing Company”. Network marketing or multi-level marketing is not an industry or business in and of itself.

Network marketing is really a distribution method used by many businesses in a variety of industries.

There are companies that offer services such as Web Hosting, Telecommunications, Nutritional Products, Drinks, etc… and use a method of network marketing or multilevel distribution to attract new customers.

Network marketing as a means of generating income has been endorsed by celebrities such as Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Robert Allen, Mark Victor Hanson, T Harv Ecker, James Ray, and more.

Still, some people would rather announce that they have a communicable disease than admit that they are involved in any type of mlm opportunity.

Network marketing (also known as multi-level marketing) is a marketing method used by many businesses to promote their products and/or services to the public.

Legitimate network marketing involves the actual sale of actual products and services to end users. To be clear, there is a profound difference between legitimate network marketing companies. This article is not intended to provide a comprehensive dissertation on the differences, but a solid test is simply asking, “Would you buy this product or service if there wasn’t some kind of ‘income opportunity’ attached to it?”

In other words, if you never made a cent selling the product or service itself, would you still be satisfied with the product or service you bought?

Fortunately, there are many companies where customers are able to answer this question with a resounding “yes.” And there are people who can also build significant income using this sales and distribution approach.

So why do so many people react negatively to network marketing and mlm?

Could it be the pyramid structure of the compensation plan? That wouldn’t make sense. It’s pretty hard to find a company these days that doesn’t use some sort of multi-tier (yes… multi-tier) compensation structure. Virtually every large sales organization in the world uses some form of multi-tiered pay plan. Sellers earn commissions on their own sales. Sales managers receive overrides and commissions paid from the sales generated by their sales team. Sales directors are paid on top of that. Then the VPs, upper level managers, CEO, etc. all get paid based on those same sales.

Look at the organization chart of just about any large company and you’ll see a “pyramid” type structure similar to that of the company. The United States government itself could be described as a pyramid-type structure when viewed as a whole.

Maybe people have a negative view of network marketing and mlm because they have to pay to participate. But that doesn’t make much sense either. Any standard franchise model requires franchisees to pay the franchise head office before they can start operating. And when you compare typical startup costs for a franchise and any mlm or network marketing plan, you’re talking a few hundred dollars compared to tens of thousands or even millions of dollars.

No doubt there are many illegal ponzi schemes operating in the name of network marketing or mlm, but that does not mean that all companies that use this approach are illegal. Companies like Amway, Melaleuca, PrePaid Legal have built strong businesses by selling their products and services to end users, many of whom are simply customers with no interest in the opportunity itself.

Personally, I am a client of several companies that take the network marketing or mlm approach. With some of them, I have referred some other clients and earn a commission. With some, I don’t refer anyone or earn anything, but I have been a long time customer because I really benefit from and/or enjoy the products or services offered.

When we look at it objectively, the problem with network marketing or mlm may be more of a perception problem than anything else. And if that is the case, we have to examine where the perception comes from.

When you look at mlm objectively, it’s really kind of an established “micro-franchise” where you can start your own business for a very low cost of entry. The potential to develop significantly higher levels of income is definitely there and there are people who achieve staggering, almost fairy tale levels of income.

Perhaps the problem with how network marketing or mlm is perceived is that it can often attract people who are not qualified or prepared to be business owners. These types of people tend to…

  • Overselling the “opportunity” instead of focusing on the quality of the product or service.
  • they lack tact when discussing your offer or opportunity.
they seem to be desperate to “recruit” their friends and family.

  • neglecting basic business principles such as support and customer service.
  • they do not have your data together when presenting your service, products or opportunity.

As a result, these people tend to tarnish the overall reputation and credibility of those business owners who understand that network marketing success is based on knowledge and application of sound business principles and a level of professionalism.

Network marketing is, in my opinion, a great opportunity for motivated people to start their own business quickly and cheaply. The key is to recognize it for what it is: a business model that will require discipline, training, and focus.

The expectation that simply joining any opportunity is going to create wealth is ridiculous. Joining any company that offers a network marketing opportunity is just one step toward opening your own business. To be successful, you’ll need to learn about your product or service line, receive training on how to present your products and services, learn basic business and sales principles, and be prepared to work.

In essence, treat any network marketing opportunity you can join as a small business. Act like a business owner. So you can expect to be treated like a business owner.

10 things to consider when renting a car in Malta

Malta is one of the most popular tourist destinations for summer holidays and car hire is affordable and convenient. Driving around Malta on your own means of transport allows you to take advantage of the fact that the island offers many places of interest in close proximity. Renting a car will help you avoid unnecessary round trips and you will be able to do much more with your precious vacation time.

Driving in Malta is a unique experience and there are a few things to keep in mind if you decide to hire a car on your Malta holiday. Although the core information provided in these tips is correct, they are a bit of an exaggeration and should by no means be taken as a deterrent from renting a car. Driving in Malta is fun, but even more so if you know what to expect!

Warning – Parts of this article are purely fictional. If you have a sense of humor, you’ll be able to spot the parts I made up.

1. Left hand drive

When you ask the Maltese which side of the road they drive on, they will usually tell you “On the shady side” or “On the side with no potholes”. The expected answer to that question is actually “On the left side”. Malta used to be a British colony (until its independence in 1964) and has therefore adapted the left-hand drive system and the Highway Code.

2. Vehicles with priority

Although the Maltese adopted much of the Highway Code used in the UK, many drivers in Malta interpret the rules differently. Actually, that’s not unique to Malta, but perhaps these creative interpretations are most noticeable there. The most frequently ignored rule is who is granted the right-of-way. In fact, the right of way is granted according to the size of the vehicle. If you rent a van, you will have a significant advantage over other road users. However, if a yellow monstrosity (public transport bus) crosses your path, play it safe and apply the brakes. The same goes for private coaches, trucks and so-called minibuses (red Ford Transit vans used for private transport).

3. Budget vs comfort

If you’re the type of person who tends to go on budget when you’re on vacation, reconsider when it comes to car rentals. Yes, you can rent a decent cheap car, but there’s one important luxury you don’t want to pass up during the summer months: air conditioning. Maltese summers are HOT, which is perfect for sunbathing, swimming and relaxing on the beach, but less so for driving. You will want air conditioning!

4. Sailing with your Moonlander

Maltese roads reach all parts of the island and there are many shortcuts around, with much asphalt having been laid over the years. HOWEVER, the quality of the roads is well below average. It’s so bad in some parts that the vibrations felt in the car can turn milk into butter. Some surfaces will make Neil Armstrong remember his days in lunar landscapes. Seriously: although the roads are not up to European standards, they are not dangerous to drive on.

5. Parking galore

Space is limited in Malta, while there are almost as many cars as there are people living on the island. That means that in some areas trying to find parking is a bit of an adventure. Problem areas in summer are Sliema, St. Julian’s, St. Paul’s Bay, Bugibba and Qawra.

6. Parking skills

If the mere mention of parallel parking means you’re on the verge of a panic attack, you may want to hire a driver to accompany you on your Malta holiday. Parking spaces are the exception to the pavement-side parking rule. Surprisingly, painting swapping is not something that happens often in Malta.

7. Learn a few words in Maltese

Maltese are very expressive, especially when behind the wheel and in situations where they think they have the right of way (but they don’t). If you were thinking of picking up some Maltese on your Malta holiday and will be hiring a car, this is a very easy way to do it. However, it won’t be the kind of vocabulary to brag about at home.

8. Know where you are going

There is nothing more frustrating than taking a walk in a place you don’t know and getting lost. In reality, getting hit by another car is probably worse. Plan your trips in advance to avoid doubts in the middle of the road. Do not depend on road signs and save yourself the embarrassment of getting lost on an island that is barely 20 kilometers long.

9. Beware of the men in green

As mentioned above, Maltese drivers tend to interpret the rules of the road very liberally. A couple of years ago the Maltese government thought this would be the perfect opportunity to earn a little extra money. The result? Local vigilantes going around the towns wearing a green uniform and handing out tickets from left to right and center. However, as long as you abide by the parking rules (avoid any parking spots marked with yellow lines), you should be fine.

10. Avoid public transport

It is scientifically proven that time passes slower when you travel by bus in Malta. While extending your vacation is something you’d probably like, this is definitely not the way to do it. Very good, if you prefer a cheap solution, nothing beats a Maltese bus, but depending on public transport in Malta means that you will waste time at a bus stop and in transit.

car hire malta

Don’t worry too much about these tips: driving in Malta is fun and not expensive at all. Shop for good prices and you’ll find a bargain that fits your budget.

Soccer and violence: soccer or fireball?

The recently concluded Euro 2008 was widely covered in the international media, but there was another story that attracted less coverage and readers. Spain’s Euro 2008 victory party soured when one fan was killed and nearly 100 injured during wild celebrations in Madrid.

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was found lying in a pool of blood by street sweepers in the center of the capital. Initial media reports suggested that he likely sustained a head injury.

After the national team broke a 44-year spell, Spaniards took to the streets in wild celebrations that lasted well into the next day. Wrapped in Spanish flags, fans set off fireworks and honked their car horns.

Police tried to stop fans from jumping into the Cibeles fountain, the traditional way to celebrate a soccer victory, and made baton charges to break up isolated riots in the capital. More than 50 supporters were arrested for acts of vandalism and public disorder. Luckily there was only one death reported.

The game of soccer has been closely associated with hundreds of deaths. Many times it was the result of hooliganism or football riots and many times it was the result of accidents or stampedes or fights between fans.

Soccer and violence have gone hand in hand for many years. In 1314, King Edward II of the United Kingdom banned soccer to prevent soccer-related violence. Most nations that play soccer have witnessed soccer-related deaths from time to time.

In 1968, more than 70 people were killed when the crowd at a soccer match in Argentina collapsed after young people threw flaming papers at each other. In 1971, a fight broke out at a match in Brazil, killing four and injuring 1,500.

In 1964, in another soccer accident, more than 300 soccer fans were killed and another 500 injured in Peru in a riot during an Olympic qualifying match between Argentina and Peru.

In June 2006, Germany beat Poland in a World Cup final match, a result that meant Germany qualified for the second round of the final. The match was marred by violent clashes between German and Polish fans. Police detained more than 300 people in Dortmund after clashes broke out. German fans hurled chairs, bottles and fireworks at the police. Various groups of German and Polish fans fought each other in separate engagements. In February 2007, in Saxony, all matches in the German lower leagues were canceled after around 800 fans attacked 300 policemen after a match.

In Turkey, before Galatasaray’s UEFA Cup semi-final match with Leeds United AFC in 2000, many fans were stabbed to death after street fights between Turkish and British hooligans.

At the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, there were limited incidents of violence, with more than 200 pre-trial arrests. During that time, police believe that on average each rioter consumed or dumped 17 liters of beer.

In a more serious situation, police had to protect Libyan fans in Egypt from missiles thrown at them by Egyptian fans on the top tier during a match between Egypt and Morocco.

In another soccer accident, 125 people were killed and hundreds injured when soccer fans stampeded at a match in Ghana in 2001. In Johannesburg, South Africa, on January 14, 1991, forty people were killed when soccer fans they rushed into a stuck outlet to escape rival fans fighting in a match. game southwest of Johannesburg.

On April 15, 1989, in England, ninety-five people are killed and at least 200 injured in Britain’s worst sporting disaster after a surge of crowds crushed fans against the barriers at the semi-final match of the World Cup. English FA Cup between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium.

In thousands of other cases, hundreds of fans were stabbed to death in various locations around the world. Many matches were cancelled, and many clubs paid heavy fines. Public property faced destruction in countless events. All of these incidents leave the game with a tarnished image. Now, most soccer-playing nations are taking additional security measures for various tournaments. Along with governments, a lot depends on the fans as well. Only they can help stop such violence. It takes a broader, more liberal perspective among fans to make sports a sports affair!

my favorite mustaches

Today’s man seems to embrace a smooth cheek achieved with a Gillette razor, but where have all the whiskers gone? I’ve seen men with beards, the ones with stubble, some will sport a goatee, some might try lamb chops or even a van dyke, but what happened to the mustache? There is nothing more impressive than a guy sporting a bushy, thick, hairy mustache. These are my five favorite actors who show off an incredibly hairy upper lip.

5.Dabney Coleman

I have never seen him without a mustache; I’m pretty sure he was born with one. You may have seen Dabney Coleman’s mustache in from 9 to 5 with Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. She reappeared when she co-starred with Tom Hanks in The man with a red shoe and years later when he met Hanks again in You’ve got mail. My first encounter with his whiskey lip was in Cloak and dagger, where Dabney and his mustache play two roles in the film. The first is Colonel Osbourne, the rather absent father of the main character Davey (AND.’s Henry Thomas), and the second as Davey’s imaginary friend, super-spy Jack Flack. The plot involves the murder of a federal agent, a video game (from which the film gets its name), and Davey’s relationship with his imaginary hero/real-life father. The real star though is the mustache – Coleman has a tried and true look and I’m glad he’s kept it for so many years.

4. Burt Reynolds

He’s been sporting the ‘stache since the ’70s and he’s still going strong. Of smokey and the bandit and cannonball raceto more recent movies like Boogie Nights, Mystery, Alaska and danger dukesthe mustache has as much presence as the man who wears it.

In smokey and the banditReynolds’ job, as Bandit, is to discourage the police from investigating the contents of Cledus’ (Jerry Reed) big truck. The two head to Texarkana to illegally load up a half full of beer and bring it back across state lines. Along the way, Bandit picks up the runaway bride, Carrie (Sally Field). Hot on the Bandit’s trail is Sheriff Buford T Justice (Jackie Gleason), who was scorned when Carrie was left without her child.

Whatever the role, Burt Reynolds never disappoints when it comes to putting his best face on, especially if his mustache is involved.

3.Kevin Kline

I fell in love with Kevin Kline when I saw him on french kiss. It may have been the mustache or it could be that he is so dreamy. As Kate (Meg Ryan) flies to France to win back the affections of her ex-fiancée, she runs into Luc (Kevin Kline). Luc has a sordid past and is secretly using Kate to smuggle diamonds into the country. He helps Kate in her attempt to reunite with her lost love, but is really just trying to get her jewelry back. Or is he?

He doesn’t have a mustache in his more recent movies, but if you’re craving to be captivated by his old blurry face, I suggest you check it out. A fish named Wanda, silver, the man of january or the slightly darker pirates of penzance.

2.John Ratzenberger

He is also known as Cliff Clavin, the adorable postman from Health. Cliff is always found sitting at the end of the bar in his work uniform, drinking a mug of beer with his good friend Norm. Cliff is lonely, middle-aged and still lives with his mother, making him the target of many jokes, mostly from Carla, the fused little waitress. His “bar smarty” comments always keep him coming back for more, starting with “it’s a little known fact…” his portrayal of the famous postman has even found its way into other TV series like at, holy elsewhere, The Simpsons and phrases.

Although John’s mustache doesn’t appear onscreen in many movies or TV shows, when he lends his voice to family favorites like the life of a bug‘s PT Flea, Hamm the piggy bank on toy storyconstruction foreman tom de Above, and pretty much every other Disney Pixar movie that’s ever come out, you instantly think of that face, and of course, that mustache. He has even made it into an episode of Magnum, P.I.. starring alongside my number one favorite mustache.

1. Tom Sellek

He has the epitome of the perfect mustache. She has proudly displayed it in everything from IP magnum., quigley down, three men and a baby and (my personal recommendation) the Jesse Stone movies. There are eight movies in the made-for-television series, based on Robert Parker’s book series: Cold Stone, night passage, death in paradise, change of sea, thin ice, No regrets, Innocents Lost and Benefit of the doubt. Selleck plays a big-city ex-cop with a drinking problem who has accepted the job of police chief in a small New England town called Paradise. Citizens are being killed and there is strong pressure and scrutiny from the cabildo to deal with the matter and restore peace and tourism. It’s up to Jesse to find the culprits. As soon as you see one of these movies, you will be hooked!

I’ve seen Tom Selleck a few times without his iconic stash and he just looks so annoying and unnatural. Thank goodness he normally sticks to the legendary appearance of him, like in the current TV show of him. Blue blood.

I’d like to give an honorable mention to a few other famous lip warmer wearers: Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Wilford Brimley, Groucho Marx, and of course, there’s no mistaking the striking facial follicles of the perfect cowboy, Sam Elliot.

I understand that it may be impossible for some men to grow an impressive mustache like Tom Selleck’s, but those who can should. I implore men with the gift of facial hair to grow a mustache, not a beard, or a goatee, or a van dyke, forget about lamb chops and that grim five o’clock stubble, just sport the moustache.

Old movies are better!

Old movies are better. I’m not sure why. They are usually in black and white. Actors tend to be overly dramatic. The special effects are not up to the current “tobacco”. But still, old movies are the best. Well, not all old movies. Some are garbage.

Actors:

Woody Allan, June Allison, Fred Astaire, Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, Wallace Barry, Humphrey Bogart, Charles Boyer, James Cagney, Charlie Chaplin, Gary Cooper, Montgomery Cliff, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Marlene Dietrich, Henry Fonda, Glen Ford , Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Judy Garland, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Charles Laughton, Katharine Hepburn, Buster Keaton, Ray Malland, Fredrick March, Shirley McClain, Marilyn Monroe, Merle Oberon, Martha Ray, Red Skelton, Barbara Stanwyck, Jimmy Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor, Shirley Temple, Rudolf Valentino, Robert Wagner, John Wayne, Jane Wyman, . Some of these are still among the living.

One good thing is that Ted Turner kept a lot of old movies and we can watch these actors without being interrupted by commercials on TV.

Thanks Ted!

What a great contribution to the people of the world who like old movies. Instead of rotting in cans in some warehouse, they are preserved for generations to enjoy. I could just hug Ted Turner and all those who have preserved our film heritage.

Unfortunately, some movies are lost forever.

I know you can add many names to the list above. Who are your favorite actors from the past?

The directors

To tell the truth, I don’t pay much attention to directors, except for Alfred Hitchcock, whose name will only drag me to his movies. Some well-known directors are Woody Allan, Frank Capra, Charlie Chaplin, George Cukor, Victor Fleming, John Ford, Howard Hawks, Alfred Hitchcock, John Ford, Michael Powell, Nicholas Ray, Preston Sturges, and Billy Wilder.

Some of these are still at it.

Many actors are also directors. Many actors and directors are also writers. Billy Wilder is a famous writer. I think he directed the very funny. Some like it hot.

That’s all I know about the writers, except that a dangerous US senator branded them “communists” and destroyed many careers by “blacklisting.” I will not give you the honor of mentioning his name.

The dialogue:

Writers are key to a good movie and while I’ve mostly ignored them so far, here’s some of their dialogue courtesy of [http://famous-movie-quotes.org:]

White House: (1942)

Renault: What the hell brought you to Casablanca?

Rick: My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters.

Renault: The waters? What waters? We are in the desert.

Rick: I was misinformed.

Ferrari: We might as well be frank, sir. It would take a miracle to get you out of Casablanca, and the Germans have banned miracles.

Ilsa: Play it (again), Sam, play “As Time Goes By”.

Fahrenheit 451 (1966)

Montag: Well, it’s a job like any other. Good job with a lot of variety. On Monday, we will burn Miller. Tuesday, Tolstoy. Wednesday, Walt Whitman. Friday Faulkner. And Saturday and Sunday, Schopenhauer and Sartre.

No Country for Old Men (1007):

Moss: If I don’t come back, tell mom I love her.

Carla Jean: Your mother is dead, Llewelyn.

Moss: Well, then I’ll tell him myself.

Good dialogue still exists, but you may find it in short supply today. Writers create good dialogue but destroy it with obscene words. We all know that some people are foul-mouthed, but we don’t need to hear it and neither do our children. The filmmakers want to make things as realistic as possible. I mean, make it unrealistic but still nice.

Is it true that old movies are better?

I do not think. Private Ryan is a fairly new movie, but from my point of view as a former combat infantryman, it will become a classic just as it did. All calm on the west front. Great acting by Tom Hanks and great directing by Steven Spielberg made it so.

There are many old movies that have been remade, such as mutiny on board and titanic. I like the remakes of the first but not so much, of the second. The special effects in the latest version of titanic was what it was about, but I like the older versions more convincing. (Yes, I like the latest version too.)

So what do you think? Do you think old movies are better?

C Ronaldo – Pros and cons

Although C.Ronaldo MAY seem unbeatable at the moment, there are/can be drawbacks to his style of play. So, leaving all the rubbish out of trying to compare him to L.Messi, let’s take a look at C.Ronaldo. Basically Ronaldo has (or can have):PRO

PROS

  • tremendous pace. Some people call C.Ronaldo a “speed demon” and I am one of those people.
  • You can create stuff out of thin air against teams that don’t come with a specific plan for how to approach it, which is often the case in EPL.
  • He is very, very fit, which means he can run all day. This particular quality comes in handy when your team gets a red card or something. He can take that extra load on himself.
  • He can shoot with both feet, although his left foot strike is nothing more than a swing. He doesn’t really try to control the ball, he just hits it towards the goal.
  • He can take ridiculous free kicks. They curve, bend, accelerate at the same time and change direction several times.
  • He has individual ability that allows him to easily outplay defenders in two ways. Either he dribbles them skillfully or he just goes route one and puts them out of contention.
  • He can head the ball very well for someone who has such skill in his boots.
  • It has all the tricks in the book and a few more that aren’t in the book.
  • Entertaining the fans, most people pay just to watch him train, unlike players like Gattuso or Giggs.
  • He has a good football brain, although not the best. He sometimes he makes terrible decisions.
  • Nimble feet allow you to maneuver the ball in very tight spaces.
  • His name is Ronaldo. When a defender reads that name on the back of C.Ronaldo’s jersey, he usually starts to shake and that is the reason why most defenders perform poorly against C.Ronaldo due to the mere presence of his name. , not even from himself, which is a great advantage.
  • Over the last 3 seasons, he has been in amazing scoring form. The numbers are staggering 23 in 53 games in 2006-2007 and 42 in 49 games in 2007-2008. These numbers are scary even for a striker and C.Ronaldo is just a winger. Although he is not a pure winger, he is more of a winger.

CONS

  • Take the speed out of his game and you have a bag of garbage that is C.Ronaldo.
  • He has a great attitude.
  • Show boats a lot.
  • Over makes his dribble.
  • He doesn’t like to pass, he passes it now that he knows Ferguson wouldn’t stand for it otherwise.
  • Their crosses are not the best in the world.
  • Extreme not very traditional.
  • He is by no means a great match player.
  • He doesn’t handle pressure very well.
  • Can’t live up to strict markings.
  • Play for Fame and Glory rather than passion and country (or club).
  • Loyalty is something that Ronaldo has not yet found in his life, or at least it seems so. Like he just wanted to jump from Manchester United when Real Madrid came looking for him with their millions.

Don’t get me wrong, but this is my CANDIDA opinion on him. But now, he’s been in impressive scoring form. I mean, come on, 40 goals a season. I don’t care how much a player sucks. If that player can score 40 goals, in any league, let alone in the EPL, it’s enough to be playing for Real Madrid.
