Divination, horoscopes, astrology, consultants and palm reading – harmless fun?

Is it fun to consult fortune tellers, horoscopes and mediums?

No, it’s not. Such activities are tantamount to worshiping demons.

Yahweh God strictly prohibits people from being psychics and mediums and prohibits people from consulting such people, as the following Scriptures show:

“There will not be found with you who makes his son or daughter pass through fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or a sorcerer, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consultation with a spirit familiar. [a medium], or a wizard, or a necromancer. Because everyone who does these things is an abomination to Yahweh. “(Deuteronomy 18: 10-12, WEB)

“Do not turn to mediums or magicians. Do not look for them, to be contaminated by them. I am Yahweh your God.” (Leviticus 19:31)

Under the Mosaic covenant, mediums, soothsayers, and soothsayers were to be executed (Leviticus 20:27). Under the new covenant for Christians, such a person will not enter the Kingdom of God, therefore, he is destined for the penalty of eternal death (Galatians 5: 19-21; Revelation 21: 8).

Why does Yahweh forbid divination and similar activities? Because psychic powers are not from God but from demons. After the apostle Paul cast out a demon from a fortune teller, she could no longer give readings:

“It happened, while we were going to prayer, that a girl who had a spirit of divination came out to meet us, who brought much profit to her masters with divination. Following Paul and us, she shouted: ‘These men are servants of the Most. ” High God, who announces us a way of salvation! ‘She was doing this for many days, but Paul, very annoyed, turned and said to the spirit: “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of she! “He left at the same hour. But when their masters saw that the hope of winning had faded, they seized Paul and Silas and took them to the market place in front of the rulers.” (Acts 16: 16-19)

Many are unaware that supernatural powers, such as predicting future events and healing energy, are not God-given and are not divine. But from this passage in Acts 16 and others in the Bible, we see that the source of such supernatural abilities is Satan, because “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore, it is no big deal if his servants also pose as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. ” (2 Corinthians 11: 14-15) That is why Yahweh warns us to stay away from practicing these powers. Furthermore, we do not need such powers, because every person who trusts in Jesus will be able to connect personally with God, without the need for an intermediary, other than Jesus, the Son of God; Jesus is the only mediator we need.

Jesus specifically said: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) Therefore, if we want to reflect God’s goodness, we must do God’s will to the best of our ability. Yahweh said: “You will be holy, because holy am I, Yahweh your God.” (Leviticus 19: 2) So if we want to serve Him and reflect His goodness, we must be holy, and the way to be holy is to do what He says and conform to His standards, not our own standards.
