Buying the Best SUV

The best SUV you can buy is determined by one thing: you. The purchase of an SUV should be determined by several factors that relate to what you want the vehicle to do. There’s no point in buying what the dealer says is the ‘best SUV’ if it doesn’t do anything you want it to do.

Things to consider when buying one:

• How much money can you afford to spend on your car? There’s no point in spending a lot of money on a car you can’t afford to drive, let alone pay the loan payments, fix it if something breaks, and pay for service.
• What do you want your best SUV to do? If you just want to drive it around town and get your family around safely, then there’s no need to go out and buy a vehicle that has roof racks, bumpers, big fat tires and a suspension lift. It is simply a waste of money.
• How many people will use the car? It’s no longer a practical car if you can only fit half of your family, or if they have to be crammed into the back seat.
• Do you do any kind of four-wheel drive? The best car for different types of four-wheel drive is determined by strength, reliability, differentials and suspension settings, and much more. If you just want to drive on the beach, a lot of this won’t matter in the best SUV, but if you want to do serious work in the mud and crawl over rocks, then you’ll need a well-tuned SUV.
• Do you want a diesel or gasoline car? Both have their advantages, but buying a gas one if you plan on doing a lot of towing and sand work is probably not a wise decision. Diesel engines tow better and use less fuel when punished. All of these little things add up and will determine whether you get the best SUV or not.
• How often will you use it? If you only drive a few hundred miles each week, why buy a very expensive car? The best SUV for the job might be an older car with a reliable engine.

Simply put, the best SUV is determined by your individual needs. Be sure to consider this before choosing a vehicle, and then the car you get will be the best deal for you.
