Amazing new offset technology prints more colors and details

When good is not enough

You have probably never heard of the new high definition stochastic high resolution offset printing (STO-chas-tick) that is capable of producing almost photographic color and detail. The reason you do know is that only a few commercial printing companies offer it. There are many advantages to using stochastic screens. This new screening technology does not use dots. This article explains the difference between the two detection methods.

Conventional printing is fine

Most local and online commercial printing services use conventional hatches that use dots in a rosette pattern with each ink color in 30 degree angels and black in between. Each offset printing service chooses the number of dots per square inch (dpi) in halftone screens. It can vary from 150 to 300 depending on the company. More points equal more detail.

Offset Printing Problems Don’t Get Better

When conventional offset printing problems cannot be solved with conventional old technology, there are potential problems that can occur with halftone dots. Some of these are moire and banding patterns. Banding can occur in graduated hues and color combinations when ink builds up and builds up.

When excellence is available

There are many advantages to using stochastic screens. This new screening technology does not use dots. It uses very small random specifications of 20 microns that simulate the grain on the film. There are 1270 specs in a square inch. High-resolution stochastic displays produce more CMYK colors, smooth color gradations, and blends with more detail in shadows, eliminating highlights and moiré patterns.

New printing technology eliminates potential problems

More colors print brighter and sharper because the process uses 10-15 percent less ink than conventional offset printing. This eliminates ink build-up, so more light is reflected off white paper, and inks cannot build up and create unwanted uneven color blends and gradations. Also, there is more leeway if the register changes during the press run. It will not affect the quality of the printing process.

Quality improves and cost stays about the same

It’s not often that you can buy a higher quality product and the price is roughly the same or less than what you might be paying right now. This new 21st century offset printing technology makes press setup easier, faster, and has less paper waste during setup. Inks dry faster so production times are shortened for greater efficiency.

Offset Printing Companies Try To Trick You

When people go online and search for “high resolution” or “high definition” offset printing keywords, they are not likely to find a printing company that actually uses stochastic displays. Many printing services use these keyword marketing terms to try to convince the uninformed researcher to think that their impression is better. Do not be fooled. The best way to find out is to contact them and ask them what is the number of dot line screens per inch they use for offset printing. Whatever they tell you is not high resolution unless they tell you they use high resolution stochastic display technology.

When excellence is available, good is not enough

When you compare the brightness of colors, details in light and shadow areas, soft color blends, and gradation with previous similar work. Also, stochastic displays can print wow factor effects like lenticular cards, plastic cards, foil cards that do not require expensive dies and hot stamping, paper cards can be printed in all cymk colors using blends and gradations. Now that you know the benefits of near-photographic stochastic screen high definition offset printing, the next step is to use it on your next print job.
