The Changing Role of the Phone: Now a Huge Handicap to Business Productivity

Is Telemarketing A Dying Strategy? For the owner of this business, the phone represents the biggest distraction from my workday, it shakes my nerves with its alarming clamor, stops my productivity and breaks my train of thought at times to never recover after its insolent intrusion into my silent place. of work. .

When the “do not call” lists were first established, I enthusiastically signed up. There’s nothing more annoying than getting a sales pitch over the phone as we sit down to dinner, especially if we’re not invited! Of course, since I also run a business, I still get my share of telemarketing interruptions as the “do not call” record is for personal use only. Still, there are many loopholes that make some telemarketing calls legitimate regardless of whether your personal phone number is on the record or not.

According to the FCC, these types of calls are still allowed:

• Calls from any organization with which you have a pre-established business relationship.

• Calls from anyone who has been given prior written permission.

• Calls that are not commercial.

• Calls on behalf of tax-exempt non-profit organizations.

While I am a bit more forgiving of those interruptions in my business, as I sometimes need to make phone calls myself, with each passing day, month, and year, I find myself less motivated to pick up the phone for fear of inadvertently upsetting someone. in the process. And when I make the call, my first statement is, “Sorry to bother you. Am I interrupting something?” Fortunately, with the sole exception of one person I currently do business with, everyone I deal with is accessible via email.

Email has changed the world, at least me world, and it beats the phone in a very important way. Provides written documentation of what is being communicated, a legal basis for review, in case questions arise in the future about what was said.

Recently, a client with whom I have broken ties since then scolded me because she accused me of shirking my duties by refusing to “take notes” while handing out complicated and conflicting work instructions over the phone. I had suggested that you email me those details, citing the benefits I mentioned earlier. Stating that writing is not his strong suit (or any kind of communication, I might add), he was annoyed by my reminder that we may need a legal document to clarify our plan with email being the ideal solution. The reason I decided to terminate our employment after only one year was based on his inclination to claim that I did not do what he had asked of me and therefore did not owe me any fees for the work performed. However, after I had stood my ground and convinced her to email me, her complicated instructions spread out in a series of obtuse, unrelated, and indefinite messages were enough to stymie even the most lucid among us. I had really tried working with her, but in the end I just had to give up. She was impossible.

I say this with over 35 years of experience behind me and hundreds of satisfied clients praising me, some of whom are still working after all this time, and all of whom pay me without hesitation.

Since a phone conversation is easy to misinterpret and details easy to forget without something written to refer to, especially after the passage of time, something else has happened that has basically changed the way phones are used in today’s world. .

I saw this coming years ago, when I was young, naive, and inexperienced in sales of any kind. Before the popularity of the Internet and email, he was responsible for the sale of advertisements in an expensive military yearbook called The West Point Howitzer. The ideal advertising candidate was one of the US national defense companies, usually represented by a large advertising agency. My job was to find the right contacts within the company, within the agency, or both. With little to do other than my personal intuition that a particular company might want to communicate with the West Point military leaders of tomorrow, I found myself in regular conversation with switchboard operators who would connect me to someone’s voicemail. My days were spent delivering creative messages, sometimes rambling for several minutes, only to find myself with a total failure to get any kind of response. I used to call it “getting lost in phone limbo.” The phone became the ultimate escape device – just leave a message and don’t hold your breath. In the few cases where some kind soul called me back, it was to tell me that he was calling the wrong person and that it was not his job!

Lately, however, there has also been a change in culture, largely due to texting and social media. The individual who prefers direct contact is rare today. Those who brazenly and stubbornly cling to the traditional use of the phone call are possibly guilty of only seeking personal entertainment, at the expense of everyone else’s convenience. According to a March 18, 2011 New York Times In an article by Pamela Paul that appeared in the Sunday Styles section, Nielsen Media reports that, “Even on cell phones, voice spending has been on a downward trend, and texting spending is expected to exceed it in three years “. Citing further this article, one professional joked: “I remember when I was a kid, the rule was, ‘Don’t call anyone after 10pm.’ Now the rule is, ‘Don’t call anyone. Never.’

I thought I was the only one avoiding phone use – ironic for someone who runs a marketing business and doesn’t even have a cell phone! However, it’s hard to believe that phone use is declining as I hear people making unpleasant conversations while driving, shopping, dining, or waiting in line without realizing or despite anyone within earshot.

I get three types of telemarketing calls to which I now I am the master of evasion: requests to buy a product or service for my own business or for any of my clients’ businesses; Donation requests; Requests to participate in a survey. Some of these calls are made by people live. But lately, these calls are becoming more and more automated. I couldn’t be more pleased with this. No longer must I fall back on my reservations of simple statements that stop the caller in their tracks, unable to follow through on the hurdle I have presented. Automatic calls do not need business decorum, proper etiquette, or courteous protocol at all. The only action required is to hang up. End of interruption.

In those cases where there is a real person at the other end, often from some Asian or remote location, I use the following response: “Sorry. What’s your deadline? Can you fax or email me? Request it so you can present it at our meeting for everyone to review? “For survey requests:” Sorry. I don’t have time to participate right now. Can you test me at another time, please? “

Even though they say they will, no one bothers to call me back. Mission accomplished.

In all the years that I have been orchestrating marketing strategies, telemarketing has not been one that I have recommended. But I do see your role, or the role of making a phone call, in certain situations that include asking permission to send an email; ask for or verify contact information; request a late payment to be sent; and verify the receipt of the material sent by email or by post. When it comes to deadlines, sometimes there is no other option than to call someone for their timely decision, with all calls preceded by the appropriate apologies.

Other than that, for this marketer, telemarketing only serves to interrupt my concentration, demanding that I stop what I’m doing to put an end to his rude aural interference. From that perspective, I am hardly in a cooperative frame of mind to patiently listen to your message, consider its value, and conclude a transaction. Compared to the convenience of email, where I can choose when I want to take the time to review your content, the days of telemarketing (and possibly direct mail, postal service, printed yellow pages, and printed business stationery, among others) , in my opinion, it can be counted.

The 3 Most Overlooked Factors to Consider When Buying a Car That Could Save You Money

We can all think of obvious things to consider when buying a car, be it new or used. Things like:

– Starting price

– How do you drive? (noises, moans, clunks)

– How many miles / km have you traveled?

– Interior condition (rips, tears, marks, wear)

But what about the things that we often DO NOT consider? Some of which can have a major impact on the actual cost of maintaining and operating the vehicle we intend to buy? These can really sneak up on you and leave you with buyers’ remorse pretty quickly, if you’re not ready for them.

In this article, I’ll cover 3 of the most commonly overlooked factors when buying a car so you don’t get caught the next time you want to buy. Are here:

TIRES

The size of the tires installed on the vehicle you intend to purchase, as well as their type, can affect a number of things in the future, including:

Ride quality – Lower profile tires can be more difficult to handle, because there is less rubber on the sidewall to absorb road bumps and bumps.

Road noise: Again, lower profile tires can be louder on the road, such as large wheels or four-wheel drive tires (all terrain and muddy terrain tires), which can be very noisy compared to normal passenger car tires. This can surprise and annoy you if you are used to a quiet ride.

Ongoing Costs – The size and type of tires on the vehicle you want to buy can have a massive impact on costs down the road, both the cost of replacing tires and fuel costs.

Something equipped with a large four wheel drive tire with more rolling resistance will cost you more as the car will consume much more fuel than normal road tires, sometimes surprisingly. This is definitely something to keep in mind if you are considering a four wheel drive vehicle or an SUV.

When it comes to replacement costs, always be sure to write down the size of the tires installed on the car you are considering purchasing and call at least 3 tire stores for quotes on how to replace them. This is one of the most common causes of surprise additional costs that I see every day, and people are usually not prepared for it or not expecting it.

TYPE OF TRANSMISSION

This is another factor that is commonly overlooked when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. When considering the type of transmission in the car you are looking at, keep the following in mind:

Maintenance costs for different transmissions vary greatly. What type of transmission is in the car you are looking at? It could be, to name just a few:

– Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

– Regular automatic

– Automatic double clutch

– Manual transmission

All of these (and the other types found in vehicles now) require different types of oil, types of filters, different service techniques, and different service intervals, which, as you may have guessed, will have an effect on the costs associated with maintenance, as well as if something drastic happens and the entire transmission needs to be replaced.

As with tires, I recommend taking note of the type of transmission that is installed in the vehicle and calling at least 3 stores for quotes on transmission services. Don’t be surprised by the cost, as some of these can be big bucks!

Another factor that is normally overlooked when it comes to the type of transmission, is how much fuel will it make the car use?

Modern vehicles have improved a lot, however, automatics generally use more fuel than their manual counterparts. This is a relatively minor thing, but something to consider nonetheless.

MOTOR SIZE / TYPE / CAPACITY

The size, type and capacity of the engine installed in the car you are looking at can also have a drastic effect on the ongoing costs associated with it, much like the transmission.

How many cylinders does it have? Turbocharged, Supercharged, Dual Charged, Naturally Aspirated? Is it gasoline, LPG, diesel, hybrid, pure electric?

All of this has an impact on maintenance costs, for example the more cylinders an engine has, the more parts it will need, i.e. an 8 cylinder engine will need 8 spark plugs, 4 cylinders will need 4. This may seem silly, but when you’re talking up to $ 30 per spark plug or more in some cases, it can add up costs quickly.

In addition to this, the required motor oil, both the type and the number of liters the engine contains, will also change based on these factors. It is not uncommon for some diesel engines to contain up to 10 liters of motor oil, in addition to requiring a higher quality oil which, yes, costs more.

This is the same with many forced induction engines (turbocharged, supercharged, etc.), which generally require a higher quality oil to stop engine damage.

What about fuel costs?

Larger capacity engines with more cylinders require more fuel to run, thus increasing their costs. The type of fuel required will change as well, as some engines require higher octane premium fuels to run without risk of failure, and with fuel prices skyrocketing around the world, this is definitely something to consider.

As with the other two points, make a note of the size, type, and engine capacity of the vehicle you want to buy. I would always suggest calling for quotes on anyone’s service because you are considering buying.

It would also be worth getting quotes for some of the more routine / common maintenance items, if the car is not in registration service yet, such as spark plug replacement, fuel and air filter replacement. Some of the costs for these can vary considerably.

There you have it, 3 of the most commonly overlooked factors when it comes to buying a car. We hope you have learned something new and remember to keep this in mind the next time you buy a car!

The origin of Easter traditions

As we shop for happy chocolate Easter bunnies, color and hide eggs, and fill our Easter baskets, many people are unsure of the origins of these Easter traditions. Whether you celebrate Easter as a religious holiday or the advent of spring, or a combination of both, it can be fun to understand the origins and meanings behind these traditions, where some aspects of modern Easter celebrations even predate to Christianity.

Easter Bunny- This iconic symbol of Easter is found everywhere during spring. Whether done in chocolate or in a full-size fluffy costume, the Easter bunny signals the arrival of Easter. Hares and rabbits have long been symbols of fertility, which is why they have been easily associated with the renewal of life after a long winter. The inclusion of the hare in Easter customs appears to have originated in Germany. It was here that the tales of an “Easter hare” seem to have originated, laying eggs for children to find. It was the German immigrants who came to the United States (particularly Pennsylvania) who carried the tradition with them and spread it to a wider audience. These early settlers also baked Easter cakes in the shape of hares, and may have pioneered the practice of making chocolate eggs and bunnies.

Easter eggs- Along with the Easter bunny, the next recognizable symbol of the holiday should be Easter eggs. Historical records show that eggs have been viewed as symbols of new life and fertility throughout the centuries. It is also believed that for this reason, many ancient cultures used eggs during their spring festivals. It is noted that eggs became part of the Easter celebration because they were prohibited during Lent. Eggs that were laid during that time were often boiled or otherwise preserved. Because of this, eggs were a mainstay of Easter meals and a treasured Easter gift for children and servants. There are many different traditions and practices that have been formed around Easter eggs. Eggs are also used in various Christmas games. These games include: an egg hunt (usually parents hide eggs for children to find) and egg rolls (roll eggs downhill for prizes). These traditions endure in today’s Easter egg hunt and egg rolls. The most famous egg roll takes place on the White House lawn every year. Different cultures have also used Easter eggs to symbolize various aspects of their beliefs. Orthodox Christians in the Middle East and in Greece paint eggs bright red to symbolize the blood of Christ. In Armenia, hollow eggs (created by piercing the shell with a needle and blowing the contents) are decorated with images of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and other religious figures. The traditions surrounding Easter eggs are as varied as the cultures that celebrate Easter.

Easter cards Easter cards were first designed in Victorian England, when a stationer added a greeting to a drawing of a rabbit. Cards exploded in popularity as a way for people to send Easter greetings. According to major card makers, Easter is now the fourth most popular holiday for sending cards, behind Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.

Easter parades You may be surprised to learn that this tradition has long-standing origins. The first Christians wore white dresses, throughout Easter week, after their baptisms. This was meant to indicate their new lives. Those people who had already been baptized wore new clothes instead of symbolizing that they shared a new life with Christ. In medieval Europe, parishioners took a walk after Easter mass. This Easter “parade” was led by a crucifix or the Easter candle. Today in many parts of the world, these walks endure as Easter parades.

Why do I have to drink Smooth Move tea while on the lemonade diet?

Although the lemonade diet is very popular, many people don’t know as much about the diet as they think. Many would say it has something to do with eating lemons mixed with maple syrup and cayenne pepper. While this is true, there is another important component of the lemonade diet that is often overlooked: detox tea.

Smooth Move and the Lemonade Diet

Smooth Move tea is a detox tea made with Senna, which is a laxative. As if drinking lemonade wasn’t enough, are you now telling me that I have to drink detox tea too? That’s right. The lemonade mix breaks down toxins and matter within your body, and Smooth Move tea removes it from your body.

Because Smooth Move tea contains Senna, it will almost certainly make you have a bowel movement within 24 hours. That is why detox tea is taken once in the morning and once in the evening during the lemonade diet. The detox tea is taken just before bed so that you can have a bowel movement in the morning. Then drink another glass of Smooth Move tea sometime in the morning to cleanse your system throughout the day.

You will know that the tea is working because your stomach will start to cramp before it is time to go to the bathroom. When that happens, it doesn’t take long before you have to go to the bathroom. While on the lemonade diet, bowel movements occur frequently, so don’t be surprised if the toilet becomes your new best friend.

The top 10 dog breeds and their most common traits

A dog can be man’s best friend or his worst nightmare! Every year the dogs are returned to breeders or turned over to animal rescue centers because the owner just couldn’t cope …

True, a dog is for life, and sometimes it can be a handful, but there is a way to ensure you have the best possible relationship with your puppy companion. All you need to do is do a little research and think a bit.

Dogs have different personalities, and these will be shaped to some extent by you and the environment you create for your pup. But you can predict a dog’s innate personality (to some extent) by looking at the common traits of each dog breed. The bottom line is that you can minimize any problems simply by taking the time to choose a breed of dog that suits your personality and lifestyle.

Here are the top 10 dog breeds (by popularity) and their most common traits to help you decide which type of dog is best for you:

1. Labrador Retriever.

Labradors are medium-sized, intelligent and familiar dogs. They are arguably the most popular breed of dog in the world and it’s no wonder. Labradors are the perfect dog for families with young children. They are not overly sensitive or moody and love to be around young children.

If you are the type who loves dogs, choose a labrador retriever. If you have a family with young children, this may be your best option.

2. Yorkshire Terrier.

Affectionately known as Yorkies, they are small dogs but with a great personality. They are considered a “toy breed”, but they are terriers, so they are still brave and energetic.

Yorkies are beautiful, but they can require a lot of maintenance, mainly due to their appearance. They are very independent and very intelligent. But they will need your daily attention, so if you are the type that has a lot of time on their hands, Yorkies would be perfect for you.

3. German Shepherd.

German Shepherds are medium-sized sheepdogs. They are mainly used in police training and obedience schools as they are highly intelligent and have well-developed guard instincts.

This breed is extremely loyal and very protective. German Shepherds are very active dogs and would require larger spaces to live and exercise. Also, because they are very intelligent, you would not have any difficulty training them. If you want your own watchdog, the best thing to do is buy a German Shepherd.

4. Golden Retriever.

Like a Labrador Retriever, this breed is one of the friendliest, if not the friendliest, out there. Good-natured and good-natured are the best descriptions for this type of dog, which is why children like Golden Retrievers best of all breeds. However, they make bad watchdogs because they can be very sociable even with strangers.

5. Beagles.

Beagles are bloodhounds. Medium in size and low maintenance, they can make a perfect household pet.

They love to bark and howl, so you have to think twice if you live in a small apartment. They are neither too aggressive nor too friendly. But once you get their confidence, Beagles can be one of the most affectionate breeds. Just remember that, like all dogs, Beagles are pack animals, so they shouldn’t be left alone for long or they will suffer from separation anxiety.

6. Boxers.

This breed is generally entered in show dog competitions due to its stature and physique. Boxers are alert and sporty, and make excellent companions or watchdogs. Despite their intimidating appearance, Boxers are one of the friendliest dog breeds, especially around children. Boxers love being with people they trust.

Choose this breed if you already have an active lifestyle, in which you can afford to take your dog for exercise at least 1-2 times a day.

7. Dachshunds.

This breed is also known as “sausage” dogs due to their similarity to a hotd og in regards to their shape. Don’t be fooled by their appearance though – dachshunds can make excellent watchdogs. Small but brave, that’s the perfect way to describe this breed.

Dachshunds in general are active dogs: hunters. They love to chase anything that moves so you have to keep up if you want to have one. They are very lively and will even challenge any dog twice their size. There would never be a dull moment if you live with a dachshund.

8. Poodles.

Due to their appearance (their curly coat to be precise), Poodles are considered high maintenance breeds. But this is a perfect example of never judging a book by its cover, or in this case, its cape.

Poodles are one of the smartest breeds. They are easy to train, agile and very perceptive. But they are also easily bored, which is why they often find themselves in trouble. Poodles are one of the only dog breeds that come in all three sizes – small, medium, and large, so you have a choice.

Poodles make good companions, but they’re not great for young children, so make sure you pick the right one …

9. Shih Tzus.

They are small, compact and brave (as the name suggests, Shih Tzu = lion). Shih Tzus combine courage and beauty, which generally means that you should have a lifestyle that allows you to spend time on a daily basis not only walking, but grooming. Their long, flowing coats often need daily attention.

They are playful, active and intelligent. However, they are very difficult to tame, so you will likely need a little more patience and time with them.

10. Bulldogs.

Bulldogs are sturdy, medium-sized dogs. They are not usually perceived as lap dogs (and with their physical disposition who would), but they would like to be … Their somewhat grumpy expression may make you think that they are in a bad mood and difficult to deal with, but you you would not do that. be further from the truth.

Bulldogs are very adorable and friendly, albeit with a bit of stubbornness. They are good with children and get along well with other pets. So if you have a cat at home, the bulldog could be the perfect companion not only for you, but for your cat as well.

At the end of the day, selecting the best breed for your personality and lifestyle is like choosing a mate – you have to match up or things will be difficult. Please don’t be tempted to buy a puppy just because he looks cute – do him and yourself a huge favor and learn a little about each breed of dog.

If you are an active person, choose an agile and active dog. If you spend your days in front of the TV, quit your butt and exercise … Okay, I’m kidding … If your lifestyle is full of long work hours or too much free time, buy a dog that doesn’t. He doesn’t need too much attention or exercise (although all dogs need attention, so if you’re too busy to give it to him, consider a cat instead).

John Lennon – The Misunderstood Beatle

While watching Monday night football, on an uneventful night on December 8, 1980, I was suffering from a hangover, when I heard Howard Cosell interrupt the game with a news flash. Was John Lennon shot in New York City? Could that be true? That was true. Later, he was pronounced dead. I was in shock. Then my brother, Mark, phoned me with the news. We were both John Lennon fans.

The Beatles, the fabulous four of the 60s, received character descriptions or nicknames adopted by their fans. John was smart, Paul was cute, George was mysterious, and Ringo was funny.

I always felt that John Lennon’s character description or nickname should have been dubbed the “Misunderstood Beatle” because he always seemed to stir up controversy about his beliefs. He was unable to make his comments clear, and the media was unhelpful.

Take, for example, the comment he made on March 4, 1966, when he said, “The Beatles are more popular than Jesus.” What he meant was that more people would go to see the Beatles than to church on Sundays. Which may have been true. He generalized a little bit by blaming the United States when referring to England.

Lennon was interviewed for the London Evening Standard by Maureen Cleave, who was a friend, and made an impromptu comment on religion. Lennon said, “Christianity will go away. It will fade and shrink. We are more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first: rock and roll or Christianity. Jesus was fine, but his disciples were dumb.” and ordinary. It is they who twist it that ruins me. “

On August 11, 1966, The Beatles held a press conference in Chicago to address the growing furor.

Lennon: I suppose if I had said that television was more popular than Jesus, I would have gotten away with it, but I was talking to a journalist friend (Maureen Cleave) and I used the word “Beatles” as something remote. , not like I think – like the Beatles, like those other Beatles, like other people see us. I just said that they have more influence on children and other things than anything else, including Jesus. But I said it that way, which is the wrong way. “

Report: Some teenagers have repeated your statements: “I like the Beatles more than Jesus Christ.” What do you think about that?

LennonWell, I originally pointed out that fact in reference to England. that we mean more to children than Jesus or religion at the time. He wasn’t tearing it down or letting it go. I was just saying it as a fact, and it is more true for England than here. I’m not saying we’re better or bigger, or comparing ourselves to Jesus Christ as a person or God as a thing, or whatever. I just said what I said and it was wrong. Or he was wrong. And now it’s all of this.

Report: But are you willing to apologize?

Lennon: He wasn’t saying what they were saying he was saying. I’m sorry I really said it. I never wanted it to be a lousy anti-religious thing. I apologize if that will make you happy. I still don’t really know what I’ve done. I tried to tell you what I did, but if you want me to apologize, if that makes you happy, then that’s okay, I’m sorry.

John Lennon returned to the subject later that year, when he told Look magazine that “I think Jesus was right, Buddha was right and all those people like that are right. They all say the same thing, and I think I believe what Jesus really said. – the basic things he established about love and kindness – and not what people say he said. If Jesus is more popular it means more control, I don’t want that. for the rest of their lives, there with them.

Although there was little reaction to his statement in England, Christians elsewhere embarked on a massive campaign to destroy Beatles albums and other paraphernalia. The Archbishop of Boston admitted that he was probably right, but many still refused to forgive him.

I can relate to his controversial statement, because I made similar statements, like when I drive through a gambling casino on a Sunday, I say, “Look at all those cars, try to pack them in a church parking lot.” Of course, what I meant was that gambling is more popular than Jesus. I hope that’s not the truth here in America. Am I in trouble for saying that?

All this did not bother Lennon, he continued to use religious comments in his songs, one was God, released in 1971. The lyrics are as follows:

God (lyrics and music by John Lennon)

God is a concept

By which we measure

Our bread

I will say it again

God is a concept

By which we measure

Our pain

I don’t believe in magic

I don’t believe in the I-ching

I don’t believe in the bible

I don’t believe in tarot

I don’t believe in hitler

I don’t believe in jesus

I don’t believe in kennedy

I don’t believe in buddha

I don’t believe in mantra

I don’t believe in gita

I don’t believe in yoga

I don’t believe in kings

I don’t believe in elvis

I don’t believe in zimmerman

I don’t believe in the beatles

I only belive in me

Yoko and me

And that is the reality

The dream is over

What can I say?

The dream is over

Yesterday

I was a dream weaver

But now I am reborn

I was the walrus

But now i’m john

And so dear friends

You just have to move on

The dream is over

THE END

Once again, Lennon was misunderstood. Many Christians discouraged him. I always understood Lennon’s style. I felt like he was reaching out to question things we dared not ask. It was a buffer between reality and fantasy. Some considered it threatening. I considered it harmless. Although he said “I don’t believe in Jesus”. And he said, “I don’t believe in the Bible.” Maybe he should have left them out of the song, at least to avoid controversy and save his career … But, Lennon was Lennon, and he didn’t care. He said that you have the freedom to say what you want to say or sing what you want to sing. I’m sure it affected his career. Paul McCartney’s career just flourished. He didn’t mean to leave out George and Ringo. Their careers were stable.

I always thought that a more appropriate song for John Lennon would have been …Don’t let them misunderstand me, written and performed by a fellow musician and friend, Eric Burdon. He is also the author of a book with the same title.

In 1973, Lennon wrote and sang the song, Conceived, a very critical song, but popular. He also questioned the existence of heaven and hell and not religion. This was also enraged by the Christians. His message was clear to me. He was simply saying that if there were none of these things that he was imagining, the world would live in peace, as one. Why should I fight? There would be no wars. Many wars have to do with religion. The song has to do with the imagination. He is not a terrorist who wants to blow up the world. The lyrics are as follows:

Conceived

(lyrics and music by John Lennon)

Imagine there is no heaven

It’s easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only the sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there are no countries

It is not hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And without religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say I’m a dreamer

But I’m not the only one

I hope that one day you will join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

i wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A fraternity of men

Imagine all the people

Sharing everyone

You may say I’m a dreamer

But I’m not the only one

I hope that one day you will join us

And the world will live as one

THE END

Lennon was always the frank. Some say that he was a hypocrite when he preached about love and peace, not about war. In 1969, he proved his beliefs in his written song, Give peace a chance, after his departure from The Beatles, during his solo career.

He defended many rights and causes. He was a pacifist activist. His beliefs were misunderstood and he was often considered a socialist or communist. President Nixon wanted him deported. Lennon stood up and fought for his right to stay where he loved to be – in New York City, USA Sadly, it was also the place where he was killed by a deranged fan.

During his solo career, Lennon wrote and sang songs of rebellion with his political views. I would socialize with peace leaders, like Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman, and others. Lennon and his friends organized a concert in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in December 1971, dubbed the “Free John Sinclair” concert. Sinclair was a local antiwar activist serving ten years in state prison for selling two marijuana joints to an undercover cop. Lennon appeared on stage alongside Phil Ochs, Stevie Wonder, and other musicians, as well as antiwar radicals Jerry Rubin and Bobby Seale of the Black Panthers. 20,000 attended; two days after the concert, the state of Michigan released John Sinclair from prison. During this time, a song written and sung by Lennon was released, titled John sinclair.

In 1972, Lennon released a song against sexism, titled, The woman is the black of the world, which implies that just as black people were discriminated against in some countries, so were women throughout the world. The lyrics are as follows:

The woman is the black of the world

(lyrics and music by John Lennon)

The woman is the black of the world

If it is … think about it

The woman is the black of the world

Think about it … do something about it

We make her paint her face and dance

If she is not going to be a slave, we say that she does not love us

If she is real, we say that she is trying to be a man.

While we belittle her, we pretend that she is above us

The woman is the black of the world … yes she is

If you don’t believe me, look who you’re with

The woman is a slave to the slaves

Oh yeah … you better shout about it

We make her give birth and raise our children

And then we left her on the floor for being a fat old hen

We tell you that your home is the only place you should be

Then we complain that she’s too unworldly to be our friend.

The woman is the black of the world … yes she is

If you don’t believe me, look who you’re with

The woman is a slave to the slaves

Yeah … okay … hit him!

We insult her every day on TV

And I wonder why she has no guts and no confidence

When he’s young we kill his will to be free

While we were telling her not to be so smart, we belittled her for being so dumb

The woman is the black of the world

If it is … if you don’t believe me, look who you’re with

The woman is a slave to the slaves

If it is … if you don’t believe me, you better shout

We make her paint her face and dance

We make her paint her face and dance

We make her paint her face and dance

We make her paint her face and dance

We make her paint her face and dance

We make her paint her face and dance

THE END

On a happier note, in 1971 Lennon, too, wrote and sang the song, titled, Merry Christmas. This one became a party favorite. It’s questionable why he left Christ In Christmas. But “X” is the Greek symbol for Christ.

This year marks the 26th anniversary of John Lennon’s death. His killer is still incarcerated, as he should. The world of music was stripped of this musical genius. I sure miss his works and his imagination. If it weren’t for your outspoken beliefs, you may still have been with us today. It could have been what killed him. But imagine (I wonder if you can) then there never would have been a John Lennon.

Why Rest Is Overrated

A massage, an hour with a good book, leaving the office when you promised yourself you would.

Time with your partner, your family, your friends.

Time with your thoughts (if that’s not too scary!)

How often do you take the time to do any of these things? I guess not as much as you would like, and probably not enough.

If you are like many people, this may mean that you end up spending your days running around like a headless chicken, always busy, busy, but not heading in any particular direction.

At the end of the day you fall into bed exhausted and wonder why you can’t sleep, or why you never have the energy to introduce something new into your life.

Sooner or later, something breaks. Either you get sick for a period of weeks or you become completely unmotivated to do something you don’t get paid for. Or both.

“I need to rest,” you say, skipping training sessions, social events, trying new hobbies. Skip life.

Maybe you take some time off.

Invariably, this is not good. With each passing day, you become more self-indulgent and less prone to accomplishing even the smallest task. After about a week at home, it becomes unthinkable to even get dressed in the morning, let alone make the bed / buy groceries / get the mail.

The rot settles.

I once took a few days off from work. An opportunity to recover from the early hours of the morning and work on all my ideas.

By midmorning of the first day, I had become the most unproductive person on the face of the earth. I thought I had the whole day ahead of me, so why do anything now? This attitude helped me a lot until I had to go back to work.

‘I need a break,’ I told myself. ‘I’ll feel better after a few days of doing nothing.’

I was wrong.

If you’ve ever followed this path – a few days off ‘off’, or even the habit of continual ‘resting’ on the weekend or after work, then you’ll agree that you don’t just get lazier with each passing day . , but you also feel very bad about yourself.

Your confidence drops when you tell yourself that you are unable to do anything (mainly because you don’t even try), and you stop believing in your ability to accomplish even the smallest task (because you keep breaking commitments to yourself).

How do you spend your free time right now? Do you have a habit of doing nothing but eating at night? And often you don’t even bother to make a “real” dinner? Of spending each weekend ‘chilling out’ avoiding activity or even social interaction? To feel sorry for yourself for how hard you work? Of considering learning new skills, trying new hobbies, making new friends, but invariably pushing the idea away because you don’t want to get tired?

Maybe you have a great business idea on the shelf, one that you never have time to do because you need your downtime. Maybe you’ve let a close friendship fade because “break time” is more important.

Let me ask you something.

How is your energy? Your motivation. Your confidence in yourself?

And when you have something you absolutely must do, how efficient are you at getting the job done?

Rest is overrated.

Not relaxation. Relaxation is a positive hobby that helps you rejuvenate your body and mind. A massage, time with a friend, a hobby. Even lying on the couch watching mindless television.

The difference is that relaxation is something you actively choose to do to refresh yourself.

What it is not, is to let the hours or days go by while you break all the promises you have made to yourself or postpone each commitment you have made with others.

Not only does this not cool you down, it makes you even more tired. You lose passion, motivation, and interest in life. You become exhausted and listless. Slower.

Bored. For you and for others.

Rest is overrated.

Let’s consider a new plan: finding energy through productivity.

For me, this started with writing. I’ve always loved writing, I’ve always been good at it, and I always felt that eventually it might be something that contributes to a living.

As soon as I made a commitment to myself to start writing all of them, I noticed something amazing. Starting each day with 5 or 10 minutes of “daily” gave me ENERGY.

Suddenly, I was more productive, more enthusiastic for the rest of the day. When I added an article or copywriting in addition to my journal, I felt unstoppable.

Little by little, I created a new pattern. The rest time is equal to the writing time. Even for just a few minutes. I realized that this was a source of energy for me. I found that the more I followed my urge to write, the more energy and motivation carried over to the rest of my life.

In fact, I started to cross things off my list. Organizing my house, my business. My life. I even found time for some new hobbies. He joined a group of public speakers and began playing the piano again. I spend at least one night a week with my parents.

And the amazing thing: I still have time to do nothing. I have become one of those people who get things done. I am busier than ever. However, productively busy, not drowning headless busy.

And how I feel alive, energetic, enthusiastic. Driven.

The rot is gone and will not return.

This week, I challenge you to break the rest pattern. What is something you’ve always wanted to do? Learning a new skill, trying a hobby, catching up with an old friend? Maybe even clean your house in the spring. The next time you have some free time, I want you to commit to doing something before you rest.

Why not make it a habit? Time for you no longer means time to rest. Instead, find your energy and renew your passion for life, before you completely forget how living should feel.

Life is now. Press play.
