Spotlight on a Freelance Author: A Closer Look at Franklyn C. Thomas

Franklyn C. Thomas has woven a masterful plot into his boxing-themed novel, The favorite. If you like sports, you will love this book, which is infused with pain, humor, and love. The talented author has wanted to be a writer since he was 10 or 11, but didn’t realize he could thrive until he was 17. At that age, he was in college and in love with a girl who had taken an interest in his writing. Although the relationship never worked out, writing became a powerful part of her life.

Franklyn has published two sports novels. Growing up in New York City was tough no be a sports fan because there are many teams throughout the year. Franklyn also dabbles in sci-fi and action writing, which he owes to a childhood watching Twilight zone reruns and cheesy ’80s action and police shows like MacGyver and Tj whore.

As a result, Franklyn reads everything that interests him. He does not have a favorite genre. You will read science fiction, literary fiction, urban fiction, and crime fiction. The only exception is romance, and you don’t necessarily think they were written with it in mind.

His first novel, The favorite, was posted via iUniverse earlier this year. It’s about veteran boxer Michael Dane, who believes he is on top of the world. He has had a star-studded career and a life of many victories in the ring, as well as an eighteen-month stint in prison. As the number one contender for the IBF Light Heavyweight Championship, he is training to face Quin Cortez, the undefeated champion, in a title fight in Las Vegas. Michael’s drug trafficking manager, Dante Alexander, has boosted his career, without making any friends along the way. Now, after a tense meeting with Dante, Michael is reconsidering his choices as a man and as a professional wrestler. Worse still, he is doing his best to stay one step ahead of traitors who would exploit him for their own gain. With nowhere else to turn and with few people he can truly trust, Michael turns to his former coach for advice. Terence “Dutch” Masters raised him as a son and influenced him to reconcile himself with the love of his life. His ex-girlfriend, Selena, now several months pregnant with their son, represents a life he’s never known. Now Michael must do whatever it takes to keep everyone in his life safe from Dante. With his old coach in his corner for one more fight, with his old love in his life, and with rival gangsters flanking him, Michael can come out with the title. . . and his life?

After writing and promoting The favoriteFranklyn is working on some projects, including some short stories and some novel ideas. You are in the middle of the first draft of a novel called Opened, which follows the decision of a bored married couple to loosen the rules of their relationship. He is plotting a novel titled Urban legend, which is a revenge story disguised as a superhero adventure. Finally, he is hatching the “episodic” novel. The game, the first draft of which he will periodically publish on his blog and in Wattpad.

When he’s not writing or plotting novels, Franklyn works full-time at a Sleep Disorders Center as a technician. He also watches and plays sports (baseball and basketball), reads and watches movies, fueling his active imagination. He says, “Writing, telling a story, allows my imagination to reign freely within the limitations of vocabulary. It is liberating and peaceful.”

If Franklyn could be a fictional character, he would imagine himself as bat Man. His favorite author is Christopher Moore. Moore’s stories are accessible. His characters, even the bad ones, are very nice. Franklyn is a blatant admirer of his work.

Finally, I asked Franklyn what he would like his readers to know about him and / or his writing. He replied, “My writing is more influenced by comics. When I first learned to read, my brother’s comics were always in my house and I devoured them. I learned lessons about rhythm, vocabulary, and long-term character development through from the pages of X Men, Spiderman and bat Man. My book can be found at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HQKZ7E6/.

Five things to remember when shopping online

If you’re like the many hardworking consumers who hate waiting in long checkout lines and burning your gas tank looking for the best deals on the products you want, then shopping online may be the best fit for you! Shopping online can save you the headache of fighting your way through the crowds of people at your favorite store and save you and your wallet the frustration of buying an expensive product. Ladies and gentlemen, instead of overspending on that fabulous skirt or being disappointed that you can’t find the right pair of shoes for your size or style, take a look at the world of online shopping. When shopping online, remember the top five things to keep in mind before confirming your payment.

1. Review shipping rates and delivery estimates.

Most online retailers offer a standard flat-rate product shipping option, which is among the most popular budget options for consumers. Expedited shipping is usually available, but can often be an expensive option.

The estimated average standard delivery is five to fifteen business days. Expedited shipping averages 3-5 business days, but often twice the cost of standard shipping. Free shipping is available for certain products depending on the retailer. Always check shipping rates and delivery estimates to receive the best deal.

2. Review the return policy for each item.

Each online retailer has different return policies for their products. Before placing an order online, check with the online customer service department to review the item’s return policy regarding the deadline for returns and defective products.

3. Look for the product quality rating on the website.

Quality ratings are provided to help give mental pictures of the condition of the item. The most common terms used by online retailers are “new”, “used”, “like new”, “refurbished” and “fair”. Remember that each website will use these terms differently, so save yourself the impact of receiving a “Like”. -new “or” refurbished “product when expecting a new one by checking the quality rating of the item before paying.

4. Acknowledgment of customer opinions

Customer reviews, as well as recommendations from friends or family, can influence your decision to buy an item online. Customer reviews are first-hand experiences from other online shoppers who have purchased the item you are considering. These reviews will tell you if the item arrives as described, how long it has lasted, how well it works, and more. If available, check customer reviews to get an idea of the product and ensure your complete satisfaction with a purchase.

5. Rest assured that the product is what you want.

Product descriptions should be read carefully to clearly understand the item. Depending on what you decide to buy, always double check the model, sizes and colors before clicking to make the final purchase. So instead of anxiously waiting for that beautiful sofa to be delivered to you, only to find it doesn’t walk through your front door, check yourself in and read each description carefully.

Five steps to do it now:

Step 1: find it. The first thing to do is “Google”. Search for the specific item you are looking for and consider adding the terms “best price” or “best value.”

Step 2: Compare. For products, start with Amazon.com, check aggregators like Ebates.com and Fat Wallet, and search the daily deals sites for the products you want.

Step 3: Look for additional savings. Many websites have frequent coupon codes that you can get from aggregators like Retail Me Not or Chippmunk if they are not on Ebates.

Step 4: Search for your item on selected sales sites. There are many excellent sales websites based on the type of product that might have the same or similar products.

Step 5: Wait! If the need for a product is not urgent, wait a few days before buying it.

Step 6: Go ahead! Now you are ready to buy.

Whenever the day comes when you decide to make an online purchase, remember these five things to get the most out of your purchase because shopping online can be a great stress-free way to shop, save you time, and leave your wallet enchanted.

What is my motivation, Mr. Demille? Motivating yourself at work

During an interview with David Letterman a few years ago, Mr. Letterman was asked how much he loved his job and the interviewer commented on how great it must be to be the host of such a popular late-night TV show. Mr. Letterman responded, paraphrasing, that “after a while it’s a job like any other job.”

If you love your job but find that over time it becomes more difficult to motivate yourself and be as productive as you were when you started, then you are perfectly normal. We all have times when even the most exciting jobs become “just a job” and we wish we were somewhere else. Over time, we are presented with new challenges or we see that we are quite fortunate to have the job or career that we do, but what do you do when things get boring at work? How can you motivate yourself to complete the tedious tasks that often bother you?

Socialize – While socializing can be a huge “waste of time” at work, you can change this and use it as a motivating force at work. Use five to ten minutes a few times a day to socialize with your friends at work as a gift to complete a task that you really don’t like. Play “Let’s Make a Deal” with yourself and focus on the most horrible task until it is complete and then enjoy spending a few minutes chatting with a friend or a cup of coffee and light conversation once the task is complete.

Denying yourself trying to socialize with your friends at work until a task is complete means no email, no IM chats, and no idle chat. If someone walks by your desk, be honest with them and tell them that it is their “gift” and that you will talk to them once they have finished their work, but that you made a deal with yourself not to socialize until you have completed this task.

Time blocks – If you find it difficult to stay motivated for a long time, break your day into one-hour blocks. Employees are proven to be most efficient and happy when they work and focus on hour-long blocks of time. Work for an hour, get up and walk for a few minutes, and then go back to work. You will soon find that another hour has passed as you have been working diligently and it is time for you to stop what you are doing to take a breath and freshen up.

Using this technique of locking in your day in hourly increments will make it more effective and you will find that you are not as exhausted at the end of the day. You will probably also see that you are more productive despite stopping for a few minutes every hour to recharge your batteries.

You are you, even at work – Personalize your workspace only if your employer allows personal items in the workspace. Images that make you happy or quotes that you find inspiring can have a tremendous effect on your personal motivation throughout the day. A splash of color, family photos, or vacation photos can boost your mood during difficult or stressful times. Another trick that can keep you motivated throughout your workday is having photos or reminders of why you work so hard around yourself. It could be pictures of your children or your family’s pets, or even a brochure of a vacation spot you plan to visit one day.

No matter what motivates you to work, keep a visual reminder handy and keep your eyes on the award as you push yourself. Little tricks like these to help you motivate yourself and treat yourself to doing even the tasks you really hate will make your job more enjoyable and provide more value to the company you work for. You will find that your stress level decreases as you tackle the problem of how to properly motivate yourself, and your coworkers may also find it more enjoyable and easier to work with you.

Try some of these motivational techniques and see if you can make your days more productive and less stressful. Share these tips with your friends and let them know what you are trying to do. You may well be the one who brings motivation and team spirit to your workplace.

Home Kitchen

A solution to the housing crisis: add another kitchen!

In the current housing crisis, big new homes just aren’t selling. They are too big to pay when the mortgage money tightens. Existing homes are for sale below their original purchase price, depleting the homeowner’s equity. People cannot justify paying the mortgage or selling homes that are worth less than the mortgage. Adjustments must be made to find a way to make these homes more affordable.

The costs of food, gasoline and education have skyrocketed. Investments and retirement income are shrinking. Labor markets have narrowed. And the savings are non-existent. What do companies and families do? They need to rethink their lives and identify the needs to survive and the strategies to move on.

When the standards we live by are failing, we must be more resilient than ever. One method that many families are considering is consolidating their resources
combining households. The ‘Sandwich Generation’ have opened their homes to returning children (boomerang), as well as their own parents. Recent studies have shown that 65% of all college graduates return home, at one point or another. 3.4 million older people live in their children’s homes. And these trends are on the rise!

Until just 100 years ago, multigenerational living was the norm. Extended families lived and worked together on farms and started small businesses together. However, many articles have been written about the monetary advantages and social pitfalls of modern families living together after being self-employed for so long. It seems that the most important condition for success is a clear understanding of the monetary responsibilities of household members. Second, it is necessary to establish living spaces that respect the autonomy of the different members.

Many houses only have enough space to offer new occupants a bedroom of their own. A private bedroom and bathroom are a better solution, especially in a home with young children. Converting the garage, attic over garage, basement or 2 bedrooms into a study is one of the most successful arrangements. In a new build, the double master suite arrangement is ideal for multi-generational living and can also be sold as a home that can be shared by two single-parent families.

Shared dining and culinary experiences can be a wonderful enhancement to the lives of everyone involved. Or they can turn into a nightmare. Mealtime has become very difficult to schedule for many families on the go, and scheduling can become even more difficult for two families living together. A great solution is to provide a small food preparation area outside of the traditional kitchen. It can be as simple as a breakfast / snack center or it can be a fully equipped mini-kitchen that can offer complete autonomy. It can be located in a private living room or in an area shared by the whole family. Having the option of choosing when and what to eat can relieve a lot of stress in an extended home.

New or existing homes that can be designed with completely self-contained dwelling units can have lasting value. A self-contained apartment can provide a place for older homeowners to live while renting the main house for income. Having a guest can make the investment of building a studio apartment a good solution for everyone. Some senior homeowners may even subsidize the rental of the apartment to a guest who can act as caretaker for the entire property.

Tourist condos have used flexible design solutions quite successfully for years. Typically, a normal two-bedroom apartment is divided into a full one-bedroom and studio apartment that includes a mini-kitchen and a separate bathroom. Any of the units can be rented separately or combined at any time.

In many localities, however, zoning prohibits a second dwelling unit or even a second kitchen. Increasingly, many localities have changed their zoning to allow auxiliary housing, in large part due to research efforts by the American Association of Retirees that created a model for legislating Accessory Housing Units into local ordinances.

Once the zoning problem is overcome, there are many design solutions that a secondary kitchen can provide. If space is not limited, standard cabinets and full-size appliances can be used to create a kitchen of any size. When space is limited, many companies (Google Unit Kitchens) offer full mini kitchens and hospitality centers that can meet almost any special need. Adding small appliances to a built-in cabinet is another solution. Small appliance combinations including a coffee maker, microwave, and burner can sell for less than $ 50.00. Paired with a 2.7 CF fridge-freezer ($ 150.00 online), a mini-kitchen doesn’t need to break the bank.

For those who want to have a mini-kitchen but don’t want to see it all the time, most codes allow cabinets to be integrated into a cabinet with folding doors and any UL listed appliance can be used whenever needed. it has a plug and is not wired. In this way, sinks, refrigerators, portable stoves, microwaves, toaster ovens, etc. And all the mess on the countertop can be hidden in plain sight.

Another company makes special UL-certified furniture in the form of cabinets that allow the most powerful built-in appliances with wiring and everything else to be completely hidden when not in use. The closet and furniture idea is ideal for smaller rooms that have many functions, only one of which is the kitchen.

More versatile design solutions like those listed here can help homes retain their value in any market. As the demographics of our families change, the call for flexibility in the design of our homes becomes more important. The secondary kitchen is just one of the ideas that can make a real difference.

The Branches of the Dark Lawmen Completed

“The Old West” was full of people of color. American History has neglected and / or eliminated many contributions, records, and lifestyles of black African Americans. Slavery and contract service were at the forefront of the adventures and suffering of African Americans.

The Old West, like many regions of our country, had its share of the criminal element, whether it was black, white, red, or brown. Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and gangs like the Daltons roamed and raided the plains, farms, and towns of Western civilization. Cherokee Bill was one of those people. Frank and his brother Jesse James were sometimes compared to medieval heroes like Robin Hood. Columbus is continually celebrated as a hero. The invasion of 1492 is heralded as the great American discovery. It doesn’t matter if you sailed to an occupied land with three ships full of criminals. It’s called the discovery of a new land and it will be called America. The invading forces came to make fortune and wealth at the expense of non-whites. They establish all the legal and economic rules of the game. Taking land and supporting and importing slavery. This practice was legal. Opposing her was illegal. These people who took and / or destroyed everything were hailed as explorers and pioneer heroes. They were identified as law-abiding citizens. People who were forced to live by means other than their own, mainly dark people, were considered outlaws.

Cherokee Bill, Dick Glass and the young Rufus Buck Gang arrived “at a time of deep political frustration for their relatives, the Black Cherokees and Creeks.” William L. Katz and others have documented this fact. Historical documentation recorded the arrival of criminals to the West from the north, south, east and west of the country. The people who resided there called its soil “The Land of the Six Shooters.”

Law enforcement officers also emerged to quell the practice of illegal activities. Judge Isaac Parker, a white man, protested his intention to carry out illegal activities. Parker vowed to shatter, with sardonic encouragement, the reckless and recalcitrant presence of outlaws. The “Hanging Judge” hired two hundred deputy sheriffs when he arrived at Fort Smith in 1875. He did not care what color or race his recruits were. He appeared to be color blind in his battle against the criminal element. At about $ 500 (or less) a year, dark-skinned deputy sheriffs could also earn money by collecting rewards. Men like Bill Colbert, Bob Fortune, Neely Factor, John Garrett, John “JJ” Joss, Robert “Bob” Love, Eugene Walker, Ike Rogers, Grant Johnson, Morgan Tucker, Dick Roebuck, the legendary and stubbornly fearless Bass Reaves became in deputies Marshals under Judge Parker. 1907 saw the departure of Judge Reaves and Fort Smith. Katz recorded that Brother Reaves spent thirty-seven years of his life enforcing the law. According to his book, “Black Indians,” he claimed during Reaves’ tenure as a law enforcement officer, only one man, Hellubee Smith, ever escaped the nets he cast.

Recorded American history has not been kind to the exploits of African American male legislators. A friend of mine, Mr. Robert Moore, provided enlightenment with his new book, “The President’s Men: Black United States Marshals in America,” which will be available on November 1, 2010. These esteemed dark and complete United States quarterbacks , somehow managed to escape recognition and inclusion in the disparaging, inextricable, slanted and non-sequential list of the “Marshal’s Service History Book records. Now I wonder why? Isn’t that so?”

Robert Moore, a retired United States Marshal appointed by President Clinton in 1994, is one of 62 black men in the United States who have been appointed to the office of United States Marshal by only nine Presidents. Frederick Douglass was the first black quarterback. Their fight began 117 years after the appointment of Marshal Douglass. The 62 prestigious black men who were recommended by United States senators to nine presidents, went through extensive FBI background checks, were nominated by the presidents, approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, confirmed by the United States Senate United and appointed by the president to administer a Judicial District: The names and accomplishments of these great men were omitted from the Marshal’s Service History Book.

Frederick Douglass was the first black Marshal of the United States, appointed by President Rutherford B. Hayes. It would be 85 years before President Kennedy appointed the next black marshal, Assistant United States Attorney Luke Moore. Marshal Luke Moore would later be appointed in October 1962 to oversee the 127-man detachment that protected James Meredith when he joined the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). His involvement in integrating OLE Miss was never mentioned. John Marshall, the youngest son of Thurgood Marshall, who became the first African American to be appointed Director of the agency. President Clinton appointed him.

Robert Moore declares “Black Marshals appointed by the President and Deputy Marshals from 1875 to 1877”, “The President’s Men”, “Black Marshals in America”, “Members of America’s most prominent and elite black families” – (Fredrick Douglass and Thurgood Marshall Families) have been appointed by the president as the first black marshals since 1877 and director in 1999 respectively.

Senators from the United States recommended these prestigious black men to nine presidents:

In 1875, Judge Isaac C. Parker, District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas, opened the ranks of the United States Marshals Service to African-American men. Bass Reeves, a former slave, was appointed Deputy Marshal of the United States by Judge Parker in 1875, but it was not until 1877 that an African American man was allowed to serve as a United States Marshal. That year, Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th President of the United States, appointed Frederick Douglass, also a former slave, to serve as United States Marshal for the District of Columbia, a position he held until 1881.

Would you think the United States of America could be safer with men like these taking care of us? I do not think so. Now “go tell it on the mountain.”

Until next time.

Patient Safety: Surveillance, Cyber Awareness, and Action

Regulatory requirements, such as The Joint Commission and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, require that safety inspections be conducted at regular intervals to ensure patient safety. The Nursing Practice Act also requires nurses to safely operate all equipment and use medical devices appropriately during patient care. When new equipment is introduced into a patient care area, a proficiency check should be performed on the responsible personnel who will be using the equipment. This proficiency check is generally kept in the employee’s personnel file for future reference if necessary.

Nurses are taught at some point during their training to always look at the electrical cords of all equipment because a frayed cord is a potential fire hazard. This is still true. The temperature of the solutions used to heat and cool pads or blankets can also pose a risk of injury to the patient if the liquid is too hot or too cold. Burns are the result of improper temperature regulation associated with a variety of patient care treatment devices. Crazy as it may sound, a simple non-invasive blood pressure cuff has caused patient harm. The device was inflated to extreme pressures intermittently for a period of time that ultimately caused permanent nerve damage to the patient’s arm, resulting in a clawed hand. A list of equipment that is frequently involved in patient care issues includes, but is not limited to, the following: volumetric infusion pumps, patient controlled pain pumps, blood glucose testing devices, heating pads, cooling blankets / warming, non-invasive blood pressure cuffs, nasal cannula tubes, leg immobilizers, patient lifts, and continuous positive airway pressure machines. An injury that exposed an older person’s Achilles tendon was the result of a leg immobilizer. The patient’s skin was not checked regularly and as ordered by the doctor for possible damage.

Cyber risk

It seems obvious that inspecting medical equipment and / or devices at regular and periodic intervals is a patient safety concern. Inspection or evaluation of the proper functioning of medical equipment should be an additional consideration at the time of a rapid response event or immediately thereafter. We live in a world where amazing cyber technology exists, therefore healthcare providers must now consider the possibility that technical equipment has malfunctioned, which may have originated from a cyber source. This possibility would never have been considered before. Hacking Healthcare IT in 2016 was published by the Institute for Critical Infrastructure outlining how devices that are Bluetooth compatible and have Internet access, such as implantable cardioverter defibrillator, cardioverter defibrillator and pacemaker, analgesic pumps controlled by the patient and insulin pumps. for being hacked or reprogrammed.

To take action:

1. Be hyper-vigilant and open to the possibilities of contributing factors never before considered.

2. Conduct an in-room equipment inspection at the time of the event and carefully inspect it as soon as possible after a Rapid Response or Code situation. In case of doubt, remove the equipment from circulation; send it to biomedical engineering for inspection and record your action in an incident report, occurrence report, or variance report (whatever your institution may call the form). Let trained biomedical engineering professionals determine when to return the equipment in question to on-hand inventory.

3. Recheck the medication rates programmed into the infusion pumps. Sometimes the scheduling is not correct and guess who will take responsibility? That’s you! Check the bombs by calculating the math yourself.

4. Record the temperature on any equipment or device that displays the temperature. For example: fluid warmers, blanket / pad warmers, warming / cooling blankets, crib warmers, etc. When the temperature is recorded, the medical record conveys that the healthcare provider was paying attention to details that will support their clinical competence should it be questioned.

How to make a table: exercise of 7 tables

Plank exercise it is a safe, challenging and effective method of basic conditioning. Plank variations are used in many fitness disciplines including Boot Camp, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, CrossFit regimens, and many more. The benefits of table exercise they are numerous. They not only strengthen the abs, but also the entire core and many other muscle groups in the upper and lower body.

BENEFITS OF IRON EXERCISES

STRENGTHEN THE NUCLEUS AND WORK THE MUSCLES OF THE UPPER AND LOWER BODY.
When you do the exercises in the plan, you work all the muscles that make up your core and get all the benefits that come from building a strong core. As if that weren’t enough, planks also work the following muscles:

UPPER PART OF THE BODY

  • Trapeze.
  • Rhomboid major and minor.
  • Rotator cuff.
  • Anterior, medical and posterior deltoids.
  • Pectorals.
  • Triceps
  • Biceps.

LOWER BODY

  • Quadriceps
  • Gastrocnemius (calf muscle).

PREVENT MUSCLE IMBALANCE
It’s easy to develop muscle imbalances when only doing abdominal exercises (such as sit-ups). Most people do not do spinal and glute strengthening exercises to compensate for abdominal work. Planks condition the front and back of the body simultaneously. When muscles develop similarly on both sides of the body, the result is better posture, more spinal support, and less low back pain.

IMPROVES FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT
One of the best selling points of planks is their relevance when it comes to functional movement, which is an essential movement to living life. Things like squatting, squatting, running, lifting, jumping, and throwing are all functional movements initiated in the core.

PROVIDE A SAFE AND EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE TO CRUNCHES AND SIT-UPS
While squats are an important functional movement for daily life (for example, the ability to get out of bed every morning), they are not always the best basic conditioning option for everyone.

The abs and crunches only work the muscles in the front of the core, so doing back strengthening exercises is also necessary. However, planks work the entire core, as well as many other muscles in the body.

The abs and crunches can put pressure on the spine through repetitive flexion and extension of the spine, and over time this can become a problem. If you feel any discomfort with these movements, plank training can be a useful substitute.

Additionally, abs and abdominals are counterintuitive for those with ruptured, bulging, or slipped discs or other spinal injuries. Planks are a much safer alternative in those cases.

And finally, abs and crunches can have negative effects on posture by promoting rounded shoulders. Planning exercises promote good posture.

OFFERS VERSATILE EXERCISE
The best thing about planks is that there are countless variations of the exercise, ranging from traditional to lateral. table variations to planks using external weights or unstable surfaces. There is a table for every body and every fitness level. If one doesn’t work for you due to injury, body type, imbalance, or lack of strength, there are many other options. Complete workouts can be scheduled around the plank.

Legal Law

California Criminal Defense Lawyers – Guide to Finding the Right Lawyer

Building your criminal defense team is very important when you are involved in any crime related problem in California. In addition to seeking to clear your name, you must take care to find the people who can best put you in a position to make this clear to the court.

While this may seem overwhelming, the fact is that you don’t need to be a legal expert in order to make an informed decision regarding your criminal defense team. Here are some tips to help you find the right representation for your criminal defense in the California courts of law.

In law, just because a lawyer is good does not mean that he or she is the best to handle your case. In most cases, the best way to make your representation count is to find the attorney whose skills and experience most closely match your needs.

In your search for good attorneys to represent you, you will need to consider the roles, responsibilities, and functions of a good attorney. If you keep this in mind, you will have a better view of what to expect from your legal assistance. This is a good first step in your legal battle.

1. They represent you – Good criminal attorneys, in California or any other state, represent their clients in trials. They also stand in for him at bail hearings and preliminary hearings. They will also prepare your return for any legal need.

Lawyers are like doctors. Each attorney has their own specialization. Now, for each case, there will be a different lawyer suitable to handle your case. If your case involves manslaughter, then you will want to choose an attorney who specializes in the nuances of manslaughter cases.

You will need your ability to make your statement clear, concise, unequivocal, and acceptable in a court of law. That is why attorneys should be your closest partner whenever you take the stand or are questioned in court.

They are also in a better position to make their position on the court clear. This makes your legal problems less of a problem.

2. They listen to you – This is probably one of the most underrated of the important traits that every good lawyer should possess. Without great listening, there can be no great representation.

As mentioned above, the attorney’s duty is to represent you in court. If your attorney seems distant, then it is a bad sign that the attorney may not be working in your best interests. Your attorney needs to hear every detail and every title of your side of the story in order to take your testimony home.

If your criminal defense attorney lacks this skill, then it could be a sign that you should look for better attorneys on the block. A good ear can mean a good lawyer, maybe not, but it is a good start.

3. They do their homework – Good lawyers become good because they work hard behind the scenes. Some cases come down to who does their job best. The better the investigation and paperwork a staff performs, the greater the likelihood that they will win the case.

Good attorneys always do background work, both to bolster your case and to look for possible precedents. Lawyers must work as both a spokesperson and an investigator. Only with these skills can an attorney truly represent anyone in a court of law.

Le Bilboquet is a great new addition to Dallas restaurants

New Yorkers have long enjoyed the ever-busy but exquisite French bistro. The Bilboquet on East 63rd Street near Madison on the Upper East Side. Now you’ve arrived in Dallas, not just in name, but accompanied by your wonderfully talented chef and some of your New York staff. It occupies that venerable space in Travis in the Knox / Henderson area that has long been devoted to fine French cuisine, the late and much-missed The Ancestral.

When I first saw the dazzling advertisement for The one from Bilboquet new opening in North Texas in the 2013 edition of restaurants of Modern luxury dallas (who rated it the second of the “Five Most Exciting New Restaurants” in Dallas and gave it an impressive review), I didn’t make the New York connection and mistakenly read it as “The Library” French for “library” or sometimes even “bookseller”, or more memorably in the National Library of France ” which is the French equivalent of our National Archives in Washington.

No, this lovely new gem of a Dallas restaurant, The Bilboquet, It is named after that charming French childhood game in which you try to turn a ball from a string into a cup with a stick, a stick to which one end of the string has been attached. There is an American version of the game where the string is replaced by a sturdy rubber band, making the ball in motion much more difficult to catch in the cup. So that’s the meaning of cup and ball.

How the restaurant space has changed! And for the better! Anyone who remembers The ancestral you will find the inside of The Bilboquet unrecognizable. Gone are the gruesome images of ancient ancestors on the walls. The walls themselves, in fact, are gone. They have been opened, replaced by large clear glass windows that let in wonderful natural North Texas light. Tables are smaller (and perhaps too close together), and the average age of diners has dropped from around 70 to 30. In short, everything about the place in Travis that you remember has been transformed, and much for the better.

The interior is as wonderfully classic as the food, and I was pleased to find bright white tablecloths, fresh-cut flowers on each table, and of course an unexpected bath of natural light. The New York chef The Bilbouquet, “Momo” Sow, has moved with some of his key partners to Dallas, and the results are spectacular. The food is solid Parisian bistro fare, with a suspicion from Momo’s great appreciation for novelle cuisine and his own distinctive multinational style, but always with a strong French accent.

My partner and I started with a light snack, crab and avocado salad, It was delicious and tasty without being filling. The fresh crab meat was straight out of the ocean, tossed with thinly sliced baby onions, a hint of lemon in the whipped mayo, and of course avocado and some veggies – shredded lettuce and celery. It was like out of this world.

As a starter, we both chose a veal dish cooked in a light lemon sauce, veal chop with lemon, perhaps the most tender bites of veal I have eaten in the last year, in a delicate sauce and served with a fresh salad and, of course, properly cooked fries (I can’t bear to call them “fries”, which in Americans are generally cooked in vegetable oil, which makes them tasteless, even if they are supposedly “good for the heart”). It was nice to have the salad served with the main course, instead of before. The veal was simply excellent, because Momo understands that the most important thing to remember about tasty veal is what happens to it long before you start cooking it. The chops should be mashed to perfect tenderness, and the chops simply melt in your mouth. They were superb.

For dessert, we both had a magnificent Catalan cream That was clearly done minutes before it was served. Outstanding! Then to wake us both up, my friend had a cappuccino and I had an espresso as we watched the very elegant crowd of young men and women from Highland Park who seemed very well off. and happy to spend two or three hours having lunch. Trust funds are a wonderful invention and they are not uncommon in Dallas. And they make diners charming.

The service was excellent and fast (our young waiter was a brilliant student finishing his freshman year at university). A lunch to remember, and it will surely be repeated, and soon.

The Bilboquet It is at 4514 Travis Street between Knox and Armstrong. It’s often solidly booked, especially for dinner, so you’ll definitely want to make a reservation by calling (469) 730-2937.
