The TPC at Sawgrass – One of Florida’s Best Courses

Any of us who have watched a lot of golf on television (or who have experience playing the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series video games) are certainly familiar with the Island Green on TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course. But there is so much more to this Jacksonville suburban golf course than the three seventeen. Opened in 1980, the course was not originally popular with professional golfers, but adjustments made by designer Pete Dye shortly after made the course much more playable.

The course is still considered one of the most difficult in the world. It was the first of several tournament players’ clubs (TPCs) built at that time. The TPC is a chain of public and private golf courses operated by the PGA Tour with the aim that these courses host tourist events. In this way, the PGA Tour can avoid sharing event proceeds with outside course owners.

But the first was the TPC on the field of Sawgrass Stadium. The Players Championship is now played there annually, and due to its prestige and the highest prize of any golf tournament, it is considered by some to be the “fifth largest.” The best thing about this course, as well as the other TPC courses across the country, is that the regular golfer can play them.

When we think of the Stadium Course at Sawgrass, the thing that will probably immediately come to mind is Island Green. It’s technically a peninsula, but there’s not much to shoot except a 78-foot-wide green maybe half as deep. Starting at about 132 yards for the pros, it’s a decent-sized target, but it’s one of the most talked about holes on the PGA tour. Add in a little wind which can be unpredictable at times with virtually no rescue area, and you have the attention of all golfers. In 2007, a record fifty balls landed in the water at this hole in one round. And fans love it, as NBC puts eleven cameras on him during the tournament.

Perhaps the most famous and bizarre incident in hole history occurred at the 1998 Players’ Championship. Golfer Steve Lowery successfully hit his ball on the green. A seagull swooped down, and after a few tries, it finally picked up a ball in its beak, carried it over the water, and dropped it. If you’re curious how this is dictated, under Rule 18-1 of the Rules of Golf, a bird is considered an “outside agency”, and considering that Lawry’s shot was from off the green, he was allowed to place the ball in the place where the bird ordered it.

Turn the other cheek – What does it matter? Is it really the best way?

Has this saying of Jesus ever confused you? It literally means that if someone has hit us on the left cheek, we should instinctively (sense heart response) offer them the other cheek to hit if they wish, not in an attitude of resentment, but in love. This seems crazy, right? Why wouldn’t you defend yourself?

The way of the world is definitely not to look the other way. When I moved out of my parents’ house and into shared accommodation when I was 21 years old, I moved into a house with two other young people my age, both “friends.” I mean because I had a lot of respect for one of these guys, I had my doubts for the other, but we always spent a lot of time together. I soon discovered that my distrust of this guy was well founded: he was a biblical “lazy”, always giving up his responsibility to provide his share, or do his chores, and worse still, he caused fights. Turning the other cheek would never work in this situation.

However, turning the other cheek, granting grace to the other person, which is an “unmerited favor”, was the life edict of the legendary writer Leo Tolstoy. Here was a man who struggled his entire life to find the meaning of that. He is genuinely someone who ‘went to hell and back’ to find him.[1] Being committed to fundamental pacifism on the basis of Christ’s words ironically made him a Christian anarchist, because the Church supported the State and the State went to war, Tolstoy came into conflict with the Church to the point of his own excommunication her. It seemed Tolstoy vivid “turn the other cheek” as best he could. In the back of Schopenhauer’s[2] Influence lived the rest of his life, by choice, in abject poverty. He always had the firm conviction that the message of the Sermon on the Mount could be lived literally, an understanding that perhaps led to a rather tortuous life in the end.

Frankish people always have critics, and Tolstoy was no exception. In the mid-1940s, Eric Arthur Blair, also known as George Orwell, wrote of Tolstoy’s philosophy: “If you turn the other cheek, you will receive a stronger blow than the one you received with the first. This doesn’t always happen, but it is to be expected, and you shouldn’t complain if it happens. “[3] Orwell suggested in his essay, Lear, Tolstoy and the fool, that Tolstoy’s philosophy was defective in that “The distinction that really matters is not between violence and non-violence, but between having and not having an appetite for power,”[4] hinting that pacifists, like Tolstoy, could easily be power mongers. While I suppose this could be true, I find it difficult to follow the “why” logic. An additional quote from Orwell probably demonstrates his penchant for proof the power of justice, as seen in whom Orwell considered “saints”, is not so fair:

Creeds such as pacifism and anarchism, which seem on the surface to imply a total renunciation of power, rather encourage this habit of mind. For if you have embraced a creed that seems to be free from the ordinary filth of politics, a creed from which you yourself cannot hope to gain any material advantage, surely that proves you are right? And the more he’s right, the more natural it is for everyone else to be bullied into thinking the same. “[5]

The point of this, when it comes to turning the other cheekIs that where you draw the line? Ironically, Tolstoy may have been guilty of not applying pacifism when in conflict with the church. Anarchism is, in itself, a struggle against the “powers”. Perhaps what Jesus urges his disciples to do is engage in pacifism for themselves (don’t defend yourself) but be the defender for the weakest member in Tolstoy’s situation, for the oppressed and defenseless victims of war, of whom there are many. In this context, it can be shown that Tolstoy was actually fulfilling God’s will, as he also did many of his times, standing against the powers–for example anarchism of darkness.

Theologian Helmut Thielicke sees that on a worldly level it is impossible to find the logic to turn the other cheek. He says, if you share accommodation, and the other person does not wash their dishes and leaves your work messy, you are obliged to treat them the same way and leave your dishes for them, right? This is so that they can appreciate for themselves what that The treatment feels like … however, on a higher ‘heavenly’ level, it is possible to turn the other cheek in acknowledging the spiritual truth that everyone deserves grace: Christ died for the wicked. This is a cheeky respect that goes with everybody person you know and relate to; it is seeing them through the eyes of God.

Furthermore, Thielicke says that no one is beyond the sonship of God, and that it is the “gift of Funny that gives me new eyes, so that with these new eyes I can see something divine in others. “[6] And we [are to] help by putting us under God’s mercy and [allow that to] irradiate others so that this unhappy world can be disinfected. “[7]

It’s about seeing the need in others who might offend and intimidate you. It’s about seeing your fear and returning love through mercy, based on God’s grace.

It helps open the offender to the freedom of “why did he treat me so kindly when I did something despicable to him?” In a sense, it is a miraculous response to a miraculous action. It recognizes that what implies that someone turns to God, without regretting less, is a “revaluation of values.”[8] That has happened to anyone who really turns the other cheek, in love, without fear.

It is the miracle of grace alone that allows the authenticity of the process to occur. Turning the other cheek is simply a better way. It is a better way because if the person who hits us or offends us or not is insignificant. In fact, it is in gratitude for Orwell’s quote that we should expect people to respond, but in ourselves we stand firm in our (or God’s) stance of love and grace.

You see, we must see the son of God in them; the child who has been bought for love and who has received the gift of life, whether they choose it or not. Seeing this miracle of turning the other cheek into action is the very vision of Jesus himself, with a look that could say, “You can’t make me love you less, no matter what you do.”

BEHEMOTH OF THE FORCE OF NATURE TRAPPED IN HUMAN DEVELOPMENT: THE MELTING ICEBERGS

Giant of the force of nature, glaciers have governed all climatic changes since the Earth was born. Today we have numerous reports from acclaimed climate activists speaking to the facts, just to address our fears. But how far has anyone gone to transcend the extreme barriers of climate and come up with a set of information that can do wonders to save the environment? Global awareness of the climate is increasing, but it is slowing down due to efforts that can get us out of the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, on our part.

My basic understanding of psychology says that we fickle human beings tend to believe alongside anything we can think of under stress. That is what technology and globalization have done to us. But James Balog and his Extreme Ice Survey (EIS), a 2012 effort, knew that this generation needs a real revelation when it comes to the weather.

Alaska, Greenland and Iceland were the three chosen destinations. Heartbreaking time-lapse photography technology that could make tongues wag. White was never so serene, and blue couldn’t be deeper; I was literally chasing him. The shots were magnificent for the photographers; horribly alarming for the world population that survives on planet earth. After all, the public needs to see what effects it has on the weather.

That said, the facts gleaned from this trove of climate data on giant glaciers range from rudimentary nuances to extreme – their effects on rising sea levels. Global warming, despite continuous and deliberate mentions at all levels of human existence, remains like a repeating alarm. It is time to take our mission and vision to a higher level where each person works their bit to reduce their potential contributions to pollution. I do not see any nonsense or reason in the police campaigns of the government and the meteorological agencies. There is something else, as Chasing Ice taught us: an unsustainable will to fulfill your dream and what an ideal human on earth should do to save our home. Save it for the future.

We are on the brink of a critical carbon emissions breakdown that will surely gravitate towards our current generation in less than a century. Crybabies or hot dogs, if they’re still on the fence they have no choice but to take healthier steps into the environment and have others hit the same too.

All I want to convey is that the world needs people like James Balog who understand that our only home, planet earth, is their responsibility. Well, if you haven’t, you should frequent his talks and reports to get a feel for the alarming facts of the melting of the glaciers and, of course, watch the award-winning documentary Chasing Ice.

There has always been something in Chasing Ice. It gives me chills even today when I remember the images of exhaustion. When I saw it on Netflix, all things bounced like a thud. I was touched; It made me reflect on the magnificence and near death of ice at the poles: Earth’s climate control room. His weakening led to mine.

We have a lot to read and see, cry and do nothing about it. But this is not how one is supposed to respond to this data set. A little more responsibility and action; a little less complaints. If you hire a professional, I suggest you try to do as much as you can yourself, such as removing the doors and hardware and maybe lightly sanding them with a 220-grit sanding block. A light rubbing will suffice (imagine you’re cleaning a window). That will save you a few bucks. But if you decide to do it on your own, here are some tips on how to paint kitchen cabinets for amazing, long-lasting results.

Preparation when painting kitchen cabinets

After removing the doors (or just masking the hinges), lightly sand / scratch the surfaces to be painted with a 220-grit sanding block. Use a type of degreaser such as Windex or Zep Citrus Degreaser.

You then have 2 options: You can either use a 220-grit sandpaper and lightly scrape the surfaces or use Krud Kutter-Gloss Off, which you can wipe clean and let it sit for 10 minutes. Your surfaces will remove the shine without having to sand them.

The next step is to apply the proper primer to the surfaces. I used a coat of “INSL-X Stix”, which is a urethane acrylic. You can find it online or at your local Benjamin Moore dealer. Check with your local hardware store.

Using a good quality paint will help you get the best possible finish. I suggest using Benjamin Moore Advance Alkyd. It is very easy to work with and dries to a hard, long-lasting finish.

Using a 2-inch nylon brush, begin cutting around the hardware (if you did not remove the doors) and where the Whiz ™ roller will not reach. Next, use your Whiz ™ roller to apply your ALKYD polish. Try to paint in the same direction as your grain (if your cabinet has a faux wood pattern). Let it dry overnight and repeat. You can hang your doors now, but keep in mind that even though the polish will dry overnight, it still takes 30 days to fully cure, so be careful and try to avoid rubbing before those 30 days.
