Nightlife, Nightclubs, Restaurants, Bars in New York: Our Guide to New York City Entertainment

Even though the city is getting bigger and building its nightlife more for tourists, New York is still bursting with nightlife for locals and travelers. NYC is known as the HUB of the world of Jazz, as all the greats became famous here and those who arrive know that this is the place to do it. New York also has some of the most exclusive and fashionable dance clubs in the world. There are many lounges, so there are many places in New York for you to find a nice and comfortable place to sit, drink, and listen to music. NYC caters to people of all ages, hosts the widest range of great concerts by world-renowned musicians, and is world famous for the comedy clubs that the world’s most famous comedians call home.

We went on a Friday night looking for a nightclub with a nice atmosphere and someone recommended Ace of Clubs Nightclub so we took a taxi and $ 40 later we got to Ace of Clubs. When we walked in the door, things didn’t seem like our style. It was a bit noisy and the drinks were a bit expensive. So we went back to our hotel in search of something better.

On the way to the hotel we asked the woman at the counter to recommend a nightclub to us and she told us to check ploose which I guess is a new nightlife directory which was very easy. We wrote in New York City, we chose nightclub and it showed a lot on the map. So we chose the closest one that said it had drink specials, since we had spent so much on taxis, we got off and walked over to it. When we got there it was EXACTLY as shown on that ploose site (we had seen a couple of video tours so we knew what to expect). We went in and got a table and bought a bottle of Gray Goose and had a great time. It was called “The Pink Elephant” (name of the disco). We had a great time and went back to our hotel to pass out.

We spent the next day doing touristy stuff, checking 5th avenue, walking through Manhattan, stopping at a random couple of restaurants for lunch and by the time night came we were exhausted. We decided we needed something a little more low-key so we checked ploose again and found a small lounge nearby and decided to check it out. It was called the Sapphire Lounge. It had a really classic decor, like a party in the living room. The red curtains were great! There was a modern DJ playing house music and the prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend it.

Sunday came and we wanted to watch the soccer game so we chose a nearby sports bar. We found Proof NYC and let me tell you I was REALLY glad I went there. I had a HUGE TV and I talk about 8 feet long, this TV was no joke. The bar had wooden floors and scarlet walls. They had great beer specials that day too, so we got lucky. We ordered some food and drank our drinks enjoying the last day in New York City.

Before leaving the city for good, we had time to stop by a jazz bar called “Blue Note”. It was one of the best jazz bars I’ve been to in the world and for any jazz fan I highly recommend it. It was at half capacity or more, but it wasn’t too crowded, it was beautifully decorated, and the featured musicians blew us away.

In short, New York City has a VERY wide selection of entertainment options to offer. Next time we go, we will review the Opera and Broadway and give you our recommendations there.

Work hard, party harder, and get home safely.

Beware! Before adopting from a dog rescue, should you know the correct answers for the app?

If you are considering adopting a dog from an animal shelter or dog rescue group, this is wonderful! Every dog adopted from a shelter or rescue group helps eliminate despicable puppy mills and, more importantly, saves a dog’s life. Unfortunately, some dog rescue groups make adopting a dog almost as difficult as adopting a child. The first hurdle you must overcome is the initial adoption application. A “wrong” answer here will send you home in shock and empty-handed. For this reason, it is important that you read this application BEFORE falling in love with a specific dog.

Most rescue groups, especially puppy-dog rescues and breed-specific rescues, require you to submit an adoption application and approve it before they will even speak to you or allow you to see their dogs in person. . You will be able to see images of dogs available on the rescue website; but until they have approved your application, that is all that can come. Fortunately, not all rescues are so terribly demanding; And in comparison, the shelters are downright cozy!

I can’t overstate the importance of this initial app! Please understand that I am an honest person. I am not lying and would never tell anyone to lie on an application. With that said, there are certain responses that, if indicated in an application, will immediately disqualify you. When you read the application, you will need to determine if any of these apply to you. Then you will need to decide how you want to handle the situation. You can try to avoid having to admit the truth, or you may need to find a less demanding rescue team.

For the questions below, I will give you the “correct” answer, by which I mean the answer the ransom wants to read or hear from you. I will also give you answers that will disqualify you. If there is any other acceptable answer, I will say so as well. For some questions, I’ll just say NOTB – None of your business – or I’ll just tell you to go elsewhere.

Typical “problematic” questions:

1. How much money do you make? This is one of those NOTB questions. They supposedly want to make sure you can afford to adopt a dog, but I think the only answer that can be given here is “I earn enough.”

(Just FYI – some bailouts are actually discriminatory, and questions related to salary, type of home, where you live, etc. are used to remove certain people.)

2. How long during the day will your dog be alone?

Disqualify: All day or I work all day.

Correct: NONE. There is always someone at home.

Acceptable: not long. I go home for lunch and my neighbor lets the dog out two or three times a day.

3. How long will your dog have to spend alone outdoors?

Disqualify: All day.

Correct: None.

There is no other acceptable answer.

4. Is your yard fenced in with a 5 ‘(or 6’) wooden fence?

Disqualify: No fence; electric fence; 4 ‘wire fence. (I have not found any rescue that will accept an electric fence.)

Correct: Yes, I have a 5 ‘(or 6’) wooden fence.

Acceptable: this will depend on the dog. For an older small dog, a shorter fence might be acceptable.

5. Do you have children? What are the ages?

Disqualification: Baby or children under 6 years old.

Correct: There are no children, or they are all 10 or older.

Acceptable: Ages 4-10 will depend on the dog.

6. What pets do you have and, if you don’t already have them, why not?

The second part of this question is IT’S NOT B! They are trying to find out if he has left any pets or if he has returned any.

7. Where will the dog sleep?

Disqualify: Outdoors.

Correct: In the house, with us, in a drawer.

8. Is everyone in the family excited about getting a new dog?

Disqualify: Any answer other than YES.

Correct: YES.

9. Have you ever returned or delivered a pet? This could be worded: Is there an acceptable reason to return a pet?

Disqualify: Yes.

Correct: never. I would never do that.

Acceptable – This can be tricky. If an adopted animal and their current pets couldn’t figure things out, they might still approve.

10. Have you had a pet?

Disqualify: Yes. Most rescues do not believe there is any acceptable reason to euthanize a dog. Assault is never an acceptable reason. Serious injury or illness may be considered acceptable, but that depends on rescue. Some believe in the “while they can breathe” philosophy to keep an animal alive.

Final thoughts:

Before becoming fond of a dog, read both the adoption application and the adoption contract. If you find that you will not be approved (young children, living in an apartment, unfenced yard, etc.) or you cannot agree to some of the requirements of the contract, don’t bother looking at pictures of your animals. Instead, find a different rescue or go to your local shelter or Humane Society.

Puppy rescue groups and breed rescues tend to have an inherent distrust of humans. Therefore, their requirements are very strict. Rescues that make a concerted effort to save dogs from euthanasia in shelters are more human-friendly and understand that their first goal should be to bring these animals into loving homes.

Be patient and check the websites frequently. Visit your local shelter often. Your perfect dog will find you!

Real Estate

Kenya Real Estate Investment Financing

Real estate investments in Kenya have the potential to double or even triple in value per year, with the right property. So how does an investor finance a real estate investment? There are at least two main options available in Kenya: group investments and mortgages.

In addition to being able to avoid risks such as rising inflation, real estate investors can improve their net worth, generate high capital gains, and potentially experience rapid rates of appreciation.

Real estate investment financing options

Group investments

This is the most efficient financing option and commonly used by the lower middle class and those with informal jobs who cannot qualify for mortgages and bank loans due to their irregular source of income.

Group investments, referred to locally as ‘Chamas’, hold more than 80 billion Kenyan shillings of wealth in terms of savings and investment, and one adult in three is an active member of a group investment club. They have been most successful among women, youth and the self-employed.

  • To function, members make daily, weekly or monthly contributions for a specific period of time and with a specific financial goal. Once goals are reached, they identify a potential property, buy it, and start saving to develop it or divide it equally among group members.

  • Alternatively, banks develop investment pools and invite interested parties to make monthly contributions. If the group member wants to buy a property, he simply borrows (at interest rates) from the group based on his contribution. Group members jointly sign the loans and bear the cost of repaying the loan if one of the group members defaults.

The success of group investing is strongly driven by a cultural impetus to raise funds to invest and borrow.

  • Most of the banking institutions and building societies in Kenya have realized the potential of the option and have developed programs aimed at boosting group investments; it is based on the idea of creating savings and investment opportunities.

2 real estate loans and mortgages

There is a fine line between loans and mortgages in Kenya, and people often use the two terms synonymously.

These are the facilities offered by various financial and credit institutions, such as banks and mortgage companies, to help you buy a property:

  • Loans and mortgages are awarded to successful loan applicants who meet minimum loan qualification requirements.

  • You can fully or partially finance loans and mortgages. Most lenders, however, finance the property up to 90%.

  • Various lenders have variable interest rates and income-generating loans that charge an interest rate of 15% per year and real estate development attracts 13% per year

  • Owner-occupied property can receive 80% financing, while investment property, such as rental units or vacation homes, can receive up to 70% financing.

Duration of repayment of loans and mortgages

Maximum of:

  • 15 years for individual borrowers

  • 10 years for limited partnerships

  • 2 years per phase for real estate development

Additional costs

Most Kenyan loan and mortgage applicants are oblivious to the hidden fees that come with taking out loans and mortgages.

  • Stamp duty

Currently at 4% of the cost of the property.

  • Valuation rates

Fees vary by appraiser, and it’s critical that you have your own before the property is appraised.

  • Legal charges

Determined by the amount of the mortgage. Higher loan amounts attract higher legal fees. Banks have their preferred law firms that they deal with, so be sure to learn their preferred law firm from the lender.

  • Banking facility charges

It varies from bank to bank and is intended to cover loan facilitation.

  • Penalties

Charges for paying off the mortgage before the agreed time; varies between

  • Property insurance

It is not mandatory and is paid per year. Protects the property during the loan repayment period.

  • Mortgage life policy

It varies between lenders and covers your outstanding balance in the event you die.

Tips from Minor League Baseball for Turning America’s Favorite Pastime into a Home Run Event

What did that baseball player do at the plate? Why is everyone cheering? Baseball is as American as Apple Pie, but it’s not in everyone’s wheelhouse. If you have a kid who plays the minor leagues, not knowing the difference between a home run within the park and a triple play can take the fun out of your shared experience. This article hopes to provide some baseball terminology and find a way for you and your Little League player to enjoy the season together.

You have never caught a baseball, run to home plate, or even watched a baseball game in nine innings. Now your son has let you know his desire to join the local Little League team. So what do you do now? Do you just drop it off in practice and pick it up when it’s dinner time or get to work on some terms and get acquainted with America’s favorite hobby to invest in a better relationship?

I guess since you are still reading, you have decided to adapt on some terms and help your child become a better player. Good for you! Let’s start with ten basic terms heard during a typical Little League game.

Ace: the star pitcher of a team … hopefully his son.

Barrel: The part of the bat that is conventionally used to hit the baseball.

Base Hit: A hit that allows the batter to reach first, second, third, or home base, unless by “fielder’s choice.”

Fielder’s Choice: When the fielder allows the batter to reach first base to throw a runner at another base.

Foul Lines – The lines that extend from home base through first and third base to the outfield walls.

Complete count: it has three balls and two strikes.

Ground Rule Double – A hit awarded automatically by the umpires when the ball lands right and bounces out of play.

Knuckle Ball / Knuckler – A slow pitch with no twist that wobbles when approaching the batter.

Major Leagues (or “majors”): the American League and the National League.

Pinch Hitter or Pinch Runner – A substitute hitter or runner who enters the game to replace another hitter or runner.

Once you understand these terms and are wanting more, you can easily search for additional baseball terms on the internet.

So you’ve learned the terms and you’re ready for the big leagues … that is, hanging out with your kid and showing him you’re in the game. What is the next step?

Watch your child play ball, observe what he is doing, and discuss all the great contributions he made during practice or during his minor league game. His need for your undivided attention will be satisfied and he will know that you really care.

Las Vegas Hotels with the Best Family-Oriented Pools

Every year my kids can’t wait for our annual family vacation to Las Vegas. This year will be our seventh year. Many people don’t agree that Las Vegas is a good place for families with children, but we love it. My husband and I are not gamers or drinkers and we really enjoy spending our free time with our two children.

Las Vegas has a lot to offer besides gambling and nightlife. Every year there are more things to see and experience.

We usually visit Las Vegas every September, right after Labor Day weekend. The weather is great and we are looking forward to lounging by the pool with cold drinks. We always pick a hotel with the best pool that’s family-friendly and we won’t look dirty taking down our boys. The top 3 options in our family are The MGM Grand, The Monte Carlo and The Mirage.

# 1 The MGM Grand
The MGM Grand has an incredible pool complex. In my opinion, one of the best in Vegas. You feel like you have entered an exotic paradise with lots of lush vegetation, beautiful flowers, fountains and a small island connected with bridges. This massive 6-acre paradise offers 5 pools, 3 hot tubs, and a lazy river. The lazy river was a success for my family. Float under bridges, through waterfalls and into a small waterfall lagoon that is the perfect kiddie pool for babies and toddlers.

I must admit that this paradise has some drawbacks. One of the drawbacks is that you need to rent a tube or raft to really experience the lazy river. I think the rent is $ 15 per meter per day. The MGM Grand is known to offer special promotions where you can get the cheapest, free or 2 for 1 rental. Before reserving your room, you need to visit the coupon websites for MGM (just go to Google and type in coupons MGM Las Vegas on the hunt – Early Vegas is a good idea). The second downside is that the pool complex is quite far from the guest elevators. You have to walk along the boardwalk with shops and restaurants to get to the pool, but the walk is well worth it.

# 2 Monte Carlo
The Monte Carlo pool is much smaller compared to the pool complex at The Grand, but we enjoyed it regardless. They are kid friendly and that’s all that matters.

The Monte Carlo offers 3 swimming pools, a Jacuzzi and a children’s pool. If you visit Las Vegas with young children, you will love the enclosed children’s pool with children’s beach chairs. The wave pool with 3 foot waves was designed to simulate the ocean and is a blast for the whole family. If you want to take a bath, try the lagoon pool. It is a nice and relaxing square pool with a waterfall. My favorite was the relaxing 400ft Easy River Ride. There is also a rental tube, but you can buy a tube inside your beach shop for around $ 12.00 and the rental store will even blow it up for you. This is a real money saver for large families or for longer stays like us. Once you’re done, why not pass the tube on to a new family?

# 3 The mirage
The Mirage pool is a series of pools connected by bridges and lagoons with waterfalls in a tropical setting. They used to have a waterslide, but much to the disappointment of my children they closed it. They offer raft rental to float, but we never need it. You can request free life jackets for children. The pool is located near the guest elevators, on a small boardwalk with few shops, bistro cafe and ice cream parlor. If you decide to order a drink, take my advice and order a small size. If you don’t specify, they will bring you a great drink at an even higher price.

Just one tip: most pools in Las Vegas say that loungers are not allowed in the pool, but everyone does. If you don’t, you won’t get a good spot because hundreds of people previously ignored the rule. Live and learn.

Enjoy Las Vegas with kids.

Stay tuned for more articles on Las Vegas for families.

The 2011 cybersecurity incidents have made headlines

2011 is turning out to be a busy year for those involved in information security, so far there have been the following incidents related to information security in the headlines during the first 5 months of the year:

February 2011 Hacking attack on HB Gary by the group known as Anonymous.

March 2011 RSA hack stole token data (attackers were allegedly advanced persistent threats).

April 2011 Sony hacks data theft that allegedly involves information related to 77 million accounts and 2.2 million credit cards.

April 2011 Epsilon hacked victim, email addresses stolen.

WikiLeaks-related attacks by the group known as Anonymous.

April 2011 Ritz-Carlton hotel guest data stolen in hacking attack.

April 2011 Amazon Web Services cloud outage (unavailable).

May 2011 Lockheed Martin (details not released).

May 2011 Woodside Petroleum (Australia’s largest oil company said the attacks were coming from everywhere).

May 2011 Public Broadcasting (a fake news story and lists of reporters’ accounts and passwords were posted on a PBS site).

May 2011 A congressman from New York reported that a lewd photo had been mailed when his Twitter account was hacked.

Hacking is a type of targeted attack typically executed by an external human using commercial methods to exploit accessible vulnerabilities and inflict damage. Protection methods are generally applied to limit the damage dealt during an attack, limit the duration of an attack, or deter an attacker. The effectiveness of any protection measure in use is clearly at stake when a successful attack occurs. Forensic tools and methods are used to analyze attacks, allowing lessons learned to be captured and documented. Data theft is often motivated by financial gain, focused on credit card data for sale to scammers or email addresses for sale to spammers.

Unavailability incidents occur for a variety of reasons, often not involving malicious activity. Such incidents can grow as related resources cascade and fail, a phenomenon with potentially widespread impact.

The Internet is often used to carry out the attack. The nature of giant public networks facilitates anonymity while being reliable and predictable.

The list does not include the large number of malicious code-based incidents that have become common events or the large number of incidents involving sensitive, typically government sites, that never make it to the press.

The rapidly evolving sophistication of hacking attacks is cause for concern. State sponsored activity involving “Advanced Persistent Threats” is emerging behind the curtains as a valid concern for businesses around the world. The press is unlikely to suffer from a shortage of headline material for the remainder of 2011.

Strategies for starting an import and export business as a career

One of the most popular and rewarding industries in modern society is the import / export industry. If you have the motivation to be successful in business, you may want to start an import / export business.

If you start an import / export business, you could, for example, import custom-made lighting fixtures and export paper materials. The possibilities are endless if you start an import and export business. If you want to start an import / export business, it is important to think about what type you would be interested in.

There are several types, including an Export Management Company (EMC), an Export Trade Company (ETC), and an Import / Export Trader. An export management company is a company that generally specializes in a single product and handles all export operations for a national company that wants to enter the market abroad.

An export trading company focuses on knowing what foreign buyers want to buy and then locates domestic sources interested in exporting. Finally, the import / export trader does not specialize in a single industry or product and therefore does not have a specific customer base.

According to the United States Department of Commerce, the import / export industry is a $ 1.2 trillion-a-year industry. When an entrepreneur wants to start an import / export business, he has the world at his feet. Every day, thousands of products are marketed around the world.

Anything from food and beverages to jewelry, furniture and clothing can be imported and exported. Anyone in the import / export business will find that the demand for certain imports or exports can change rapidly. For the savvy merchant, any product can become part of the global merchandise inventory.

Kitchen Design Basics – Backsplash Options – Foils

When people typically think of kitchen backsplash options, they will typically think of ceramic tile or stone tile materials. While this is a popular option that can add color and texture to a kitchen, there are other options that work too and offer a distinctive look.

If you are on a tight budget and looking for a traditional look, painted bead panel panels are an option to consider. The bead board comes in a variety of materials; MDF is an inexpensive option and suits a painted finish quite well. I would only use this material on walls that are not exposed to moisture. The area behind a sink may not be a good location, however if you have a typical 4 “tile, laminate or granite backsplash immediately above the counter, you wouldn’t hesitate to use a bead board for the countertop. rest of the wall area at the bottom of the upper cabinets.

Another possible choice for the backsplash material is sheet metal, either stainless steel or galvanized iron. This installs easily with construction adhesive and results in a modern looking finish that is visually stunning.

The possible options for a backsplash in the kitchen are only limited by imagination. While tile is still a solid option, its installation requires a good level of skill and, depending on the material selected, can be expensive. When considering backsplash materials, don’t forget sheet materials like bead board and sheet metal – they offer a unique look at a bargain price.

5 unusual ways to improve poor signal reception

Poor cell phone signal reception is never appreciated. Nobody likes signal bars missing from a phone screen. You may have suffered from this problem at some point in your life.

These problems have always existed and over the years people have come up with some unique and unusual home remedies for these problems. Here are 5 ways these crafty individuals say they improve signal reception.

An old radio antenna

An old radio antenna could be a solution for your poor reception. They say all you need is an old radio antenna. This may seem absurd, but there are actually testimonials available on YouTube that guarantee results from using this technique. All you need to do is place a radio antenna near your cell phone and connect it to your cell phone’s external antenna using copper wire.

Tesla Coils

It is an electrical resonant transformer circuit that can help you improve your cell phone reception. All you need is a small piece of tesla coil and masking tape. You can tie the tape around your cell phone antenna and then use the tape to make sure it stays there. (i.e if you can actually find the antenna on your phone …)

Paper clip

This is one of the simplest methods to improve reception. A paper clip is available in almost every office. All you need to do is take a paper clip and fix it on your phone’s external antenna. Attention should be paid when doing so as paper clips can damage your cell phone screen or case. Duct tape can be used to tie the clip with your cell phone. (This was also featured by the guy with duct tape on his glasses)

Empty cans

Now you will never throw away those empty cans as they can recover from your poor signal reception. This is one of the most absurd ways, but it actually works like magic. All you need are two empty cans, a cutter, some copper wire, and a soldering iron.

The steps

1. Wash cans properly so there is no residue.

2. Cut the end of either of the cans correctly all the way where there is no opening, and then join the two cans together by welding them together.

3. Punch a hole in any of the cans and put the copper wire inside and make sure it stays well. Now attach the other end of the cable to your cell phone’s external antenna, and voila!

Here are the simple steps of using empty cans to improve your signal reception. There are many variations of the method available and some even include the option of making small propellers out of the cans to decorate them.

Insulated wire

This is again one of the cheapest methods. All you need is 20 cm of insulated wire. Strip both sides of the wire (about 1cm each) and twist around half of the wire onto a stick to give you those circles. Now that your antenna is ready, you need to attach it to your cell phone’s external antenna and you’re done.

Enjoy these cheap and easy methods and say goodbye to poor signal reception. Or you can really boost your cell’s weak signals with proven signal boosters that are very affordable, much more effective, and will do much less damage to your expensive wireless devices.
