Hero Maestro vs Suzuki Access 125
In the Indian two-wheeler industry, small capacity scooters always have an important place. Congested city roads and skyrocketing fuel prices may be the reasons for this. The Hero Maestro and the Suzuki Access 125 are two popular scooters in India. The 110cc Hero Maestro released in 2012 is priced at Rs 46,700. The Accees 125 is Suzuki’s best selling scooter priced at Rs 49,125 and 51,217 for the Standard and Deluxe models respectively.
The Maestro comes in Force Silver, Panther Black, Brilliant Red, Pearl White and Harvest Green, while the Access comes in Candy Red, Pearl White, Metallic Silver and Metallic Black. Both scooters are electric start with automatic transmission. The Maestro has a 3Ah battery with 35/35w halogen headlights, 5/21w glass tail/brake lights and glass turn signals. The Access has a 5Ah battery with 35/35W halogen lights, 5/21W glass brake/tail lights and glass turn signals.
The Maestro has a 109cc engine, 8.2 ps and 9.1 Nm of torque that provides miles of 50 kmpl. The more powerful Suzuki Access has a 124 cc engine, 8.5 hp and 9.8 Nm of torque which provides a better mileage of 55 kmpl. Both have carburetor-type fuel system and CDI-type ignition. The Maestro takes 9.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h and the Access 7.9 seconds. Top speeds of both bikes are 91 kmph.
The Maestro has a better instrument panel with an analog speedometer, a digital fuel gauge, two digital trip meters, a support gauge, and a low fuel gauge. The Access 125 has an analog speedometer and fuel gauge and low fuel and low battery indications. The Maestro has a high-rigidity bone-type chassis with lower link with spring-actuated hydraulic damper at the front and spring unit with hydraulic damper at the rear. The Suzuki scooter has a diamond chassis with telescopic coil spring actuated oil damper suspension at the front and swing arm coil spring type oil damper suspension at the rear.
The dimensions of the 110kg Maestro are a 1240mm wheelbase and 155mm ground clearance. The Access, which weighs 112kg, has a 1250mm wheelbase and 160mm ground clearance. Brakes are 130mm drums for the Maestro and 120mm drums for the Access at both ends. Tires are 90/100×10″ for both scooters. The Access has a 6 liter fuel tank versus the Maestro’s 5 liter tank.
Lower prices, better style and a unisex look are the Maestro’s selling points. The Suzuki Access 125 has a smooth engine, better front suspension, and a key shutter feature.
