Colorado Ski Resorts – What’s Open in December 2009?

New grounds opening all the time and much more to report than before – At Golden Peak, the River Bahn Express is now open with blue runs like Ranger Racoon, Ruder’s Run, plus Northwoods Express now operating with access to northern black runs and South Rim, First Step, Prima, Gandy Dance and North Star. Snag Park and Northwoods also open at the top. The Cascade Village elevator is now operational for those who need access from the Cascade Village and Aria Club and Spa. On the Lionshead side, there are many more open slopes, including Simba, Bwana, Pride, Safari, and Minnie’s. From the Game Creek Express elevator you can access The Woods, baccarat, Dealers’ Choice blues, and Lost Boy green run. In Wildwood Express try Kangaroo Cornice, Challenge or S. Look Ma black slopes or Hunky Dory blue. With the Mountain Top Express open, you can go to Whistle Pig, Expresso, Cappucino, Swingsville, and Christmas. Wildwood Express. Now a total of 78 trails and 14 open lifts.

Breckenridge, Colorado, United States

For the advanced skier, the T-bar has been opened with black Pika, Ptarmigan and Forget-me-not slopes and White Crown. Contest Bowl is also ready for action. For intermediate skiers, Breck has now opened Peak 7 with blue runs Pioneer, Monte Cristo, Angels Rest and Fort Mary B now open. At peaks 8 and 9, most of the blue and green runs are now open, including the Briar Rose blue run at peak 9. Peak 8 also has most of the blue and black runs ready for skiers. In total, there are 14 lifts in operation with access to 46 trails, covered with new snow in recent days.

Beaver Creek, Colorado, United States

In Beaver Creek, a total of 14 elevators and 45 tours are already operational. Bachelor Gulch has the Grubstake and Gunder blue runs open plus the Sawbuck, Intertwine and Cabin Fever green runs. There are 27 open runs on Beaver Creek’s main mountain offering green, blue or black run options for skiers. Open black runs include Fool’s Gold, Addy’s, Half Hitch, Double Diamond, and Centennial Spruce and Willey’s Face. The water elevator is open with the Booth Gardens, Powell and Mystic Garden Green Run in the Family Ski Zone. From the Rose Bowl Elevator, the Cataract, Spider, and Ripsaw Black Runs are open along with the C-prime Blue Runs and Stone Creek Meadows. The Nastar field is ready for those who want some action on the run!

Steamboat Springs, Colorado, United States

Steamboat has opened more elevators with Thunderhead Express, 4 points and Storm Peak Express and now has 8 elevators in operation. From the Thunderhead lift, try the blue runs of Vagabond or Betwixt. Bashor is open and gives skiers and cyclists access to Terrain Park, but not yet to the Superpipe or Nastar circuit. From the top of the Storm Peak Express, ride the blue runs of Buddy’s Run, Calf Roper and Meadow Lane or try your luck on the black run of Storm Peak South. Try the Cyclone or Hurrican blacks with 4 points.

Winter Park, Colorado, United States

Winter Park has now opened a few tracks on Mary Jane Mountain, including the Mary Jane trail and Lower Arrowhead. Winter Park Mountain has most of its blue and green trails open, including the Lonesome Whistle, Whistlestop, Switchyard, and Mock Turtle, which have just opened in recent days, plus Tweedle Dee, Butch’s Breezeway, Jack Kendrick, and Jabberwocky. In total, 30 open trails and 12 elevators with the Olympia and High Lonesome elevator now open on the Winter Park side and the Pony Express and the main Super Gauge elevator are now open on the Mary Jane side.
