Self-esteem and Multiple Intelligences of Students with Dyslexia

This study was based on the theory that students’ academic performance depends on or is influenced by various factors such as their self-esteem and multiple intelligences. This study was based on West’s 1997 theory explaining the hemispheric dominance of each person’s brain, by Gardner i 1993 in his MI theory, by Armstrong in his MI theory too, by Levine in 2002, by Lazear in 1993, by Shaw in 1994 and by Pollock, Waller and Pollit in 1994. Multiple intelligences include linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, spatial and natural intelligences. The study hypothesized that there is a significant relationship between self-esteem, multiple intelligences, and academic performance of freshmen at risk of dyslexia at Gingoog City National Comprehensive Secondary School for the 2007-2008 school year. . The method used was the descriptive survey.

This study was conducted at Gingoog City National Comprehensive Secondary School, Gingoog City. Respondents were twenty-nine (29) students and twenty-three (23) were male, while all six (6) were female who identified themselves as at risk for dyslexia. The three (3) sets of questionnaires were administered to collect necessary data such as the Dyslexic Student and Adult Identification Test, the Barksdale Assessment of Self-Esteem (SEI), and the Multiple Intelligence Development Series (MIDAS). The statistical tools used were percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis.

The findings reveal that there was a predominance among males with low self-esteem because more males with dyslexia were identified. In addition, women could handle their difficulties by being studious, diligent, obedient, patient, and striving in the midst of their difficulties.

The findings further reveal that the majority of respondents showed signs of mild dyslexia. Twenty (20) of 69% of the students presented a lack of self-esteem. Nine (9) or 31% were men with severe disabilities. However, none of the respondents had linguistic intelligence. This is understandable given their difficulty in reading, as the expert said that learning disability affects students’ language processing (Wadlington, 2005).

It was found that these respondents had different types of intelligence. Ten (10) or 34.5 percent of the students had intrapersonal skills, (10) or 34.5 percent had interpersonal skills and musical skills as well, four (4) or 13.8 percent had logical skills and spatial skills, and only one (10) o 3.4 percent had naturalistic intelligence.

The average level of academic performance of the students was 75.93 percent. This shows poor results in their academic subjects. There is no significant relationship between self-esteem, multiple intelligences and academic performance.

Harmful Effects of the Sexualization of Children

The children are growing up too fast. They are growing up in a toxic atmosphere of consumerism, media overexposure, and aggressive marketing. The cyber revolution offers free communication and uninhibited visuals that sexualize and objectify children at an early age. Body image and appearance become the main focus. Long before they understand what it is to be a sexual being, sexual behavior is internalized.

Researchers in Great Britain state that boys and girls reach puberty before the age of 8. Their findings showed that 1 in 6 girls menstruates before the age of 8. Fifty years ago, I out of 100 girls started menstruating at that age. Children also reach adolescence at the age of 12 or 13.

Precocious puberty has its dangers. The surge of hormones at puberty can cause boys to have sex at an early age. Teenage pregnancies are on the rise. The irony of this is that while they are physically capable, they are emotionally immature and ill-equipped to handle the consequences of their behavior. 40% of young people between the ages of 13 and 15 are no longer virgins.

Children’s websites such as Missbimbo.com encourage children around the world to enjoy Bimboland. Here the images of curvy girls with doe eyes are projected as if they are in fashion. You can create your own bimbo and become a fashion star.

Nuts.co.uk have an absorbing game where 230 photos of topless girls can be combined with any of 10,000 breasts in a game called “Rate My Breasts”.

At the beginning of January this year, two new plastic surgery applications were launched on the market. They are called “Plastic Surgery”, “Plastic Doctor and Plastic Hospital Office for Barbie versions”. The instruction reads: “This unfortunate girl has so much extra weight that no diet can help her. In our clinic she can undergo a surgery called liposuction that will make her slim and beautiful. We will have to make small cuts in the problem areas and suck out the extra fat. Will you operate on his doctor?” Although the general public is outraged on Twitter, the number of visitors to the site registers its popularity.

“Childhood pinkification” or color coding of children’s merchandise is another way of portraying girls as purely decorative, pleasing to the eye, and pleasing.

The hypersexualized images that children are exposed to and the easy availability of pornography are turning children into precocious mini-adults. The loss of innocence comes too soon. They grow up with a distorted image of the human body and sexuality. Linda Papadopaulos, a psychologist, calls it the “pornification of society” due to the incorporation of the sex industry.

A permissive family environment is another reason why children are sexualized prematurely. Parents need to be good role models and not shy away from their responsibilities. A mother who drags her 5- or 6-year-old daughter to a beauty salon for facials, lipstick, eyebrow plucking, and hairstyling is encouraging the child to believe that appearances are all that matter. Mothers even compete with each other to have the best dressed and elegantly groomed daughters. There was a time when children wanted to be doctors, nurses or teachers. Today, their goal is to be fashion models or movie stars.

Lack of supervision is a growing problem when both parents work. No one controls what they see online or on TV or who their friends are. Parents have no control over who they meet on Facebook or other social networks, and what type of interaction occurs. Exposure to pornography is rampant.

Parents with busy schedules buy themselves into the guilt of excess. Too much pocket money or even the use of credit cards is a way of pampering them. While girls go for trendy clothes and accessories, boys buy expensive computer games, videos or gadgets. Children absorb consumer trends. The impact of brands is so great that they want to dress up as their favorite characters and only use the brands they promote. Girls want to strut and twirl like Miley Cyrus or Beyonce and guys want to imitate Sharook Khan or Brad Pitt. Their “nuisance power,” the ability to influence parents to buy what they like, increases.

Harmful effects of sexualization:

1. Promiscuity. This can lead to casual flirtations, posting sexy photos online, experimenting with sex even though they have little sexual knowledge.

2. Drugs and alcohol become part of your lifestyle, leading to irresponsible behavior and health risks.

3. Unwanted pregnancies.

4. Dropping out of school

5. Social problems.

6. Anorexia due to her desire to lose weight.

7. Juvenile crimes, including rape by children between the ages of 7 and 12.

8. Victims of pedophiles.

9. Attracted to act in porn videos.

10. Anxiety and depression. Many times suicide.

How to protect your children:

• Provide a stable family environment. Children who grow up in such a home develop self-esteem and social confidence. Basic rules and guidelines regarding behavior should be established, ie, when can a girl wear adult clothing and makeup? At what age is dating allowed? There should be open communication between parents and children. Talking with them will encourage them to discuss their problems. Parents also have a responsibility to monitor children’s use of computers, tablets, and phones, and crack down on suspicious activity.

• Sex education by teachers and parents. Children are curious. Teachers must be trained to communicate on the sensitive subject of sex. They must have the appropriate resources to teach about body image and wellness. Sex education should start at 7 or 8 years old. Children should be taught to focus on healthy bodies instead of beautiful bodies. The need for a healthy diet, hygiene habits, regular exercise and outdoor activities should be emphasized. Parents shouldn’t be ashamed to talk to their children about their bodies. They must pay attention to the questions asked and give honest answers. When a child reports a disturbing event, she should be investigated. He must be sure that you will stand by him against the abuser. Children should also be educated about the dangers of viewing pornography, sexting, divulging too much personal information online, or uploading too many photos.

• It is important to teach children to recognize sexual abuse. They must know how to distinguish between ‘good touch’ and ‘bad touch’ and be bold enough to reject the latter. Both parents and teachers need to explain what misbehavior is and how to avoid it.

• The media must self-regulate.

• Mini-Miss pageants should be banned. In September 2013, France voted to ban pageants for girls under the age of 16, in a bid to stop the hypersexualization of children. “Let’s not allow our girls to believe that their only value is appearance,” said Chantal Jouanno, a former sports minister in Nicolas Sarkozy’s government. “Let’s not allow commercial interests to overcome social interests.” Those who broke the rule were punished with two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.

• Severe penalties for pedophiles and child traffickers.

• Politicians and industrialists must also share the responsibility to make the world a safe place for our children.

All children need help and encouragement to learn to take responsibility for themselves. Self-respect, the ability to distinguish between right and wrong, and resourcefulness are what will give them the confidence to grow as stable individuals in a world that boasts harmful lifestyles.

How to find a good public adjuster

The best place to find a good public adjuster is through the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters. NAPIA can provide referrals in all states that license public adjusters. A Public Insurance Adjuster is the only type of adjuster qualified to represent the insured party in a property claim. Currently, more than 43 states plus the District of Columbia require an adjuster to have this license to represent the insured.

A professionally trained public insurance adjuster will act as your advocate and help you navigate the insurance maze so you can collect the full amount owed to you under your policy. However, there are several steps that must be completed before you can receive payment: valuing the loss, presenting it to the insurer, and negotiating a settlement. Insurance policies are complicated and conditional, full payment of a loss is not automatic.

A public adjuster can help determine coverage and causes of loss to evaluate the insurer’s offer or denial.

After a disaster, fire victims are often beset by inquiries and offers from general contractors and public adjusters and others offering to help them. This is normal. Just because they ask for it doesn’t mean they are doing something wrong. However, you should be careful and do your due diligence before signing up for their services.

If public adjusters are not members of NAPIA (National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters), be careful. They may not have the legal or insurance knowledge to adequately represent you. Here are some danger signs:

1. They make BIG promises without any guarantees.

2. Their fees are outrageous. Most legitimate public insurance adjuster fees range from 5% to 12%, with the average being around 10%. Some public adjusters may charge higher fees on small claims or when hired midway through the claims process.

3. If you feel pressured to make a quick decision, run. Legitimate PAs recognize that this decision to hire someone to represent you in getting your home and life back is momentous. This is not a decision to be taken lightly. This could be one of the most expensive decisions you make in your life. Take your time and make sure you are comfortable with the adjuster you are hiring.

4. Check your website and address. If they have nothing more than a business card, be very careful. If your only address is a PO Box, this may be another red flag.

5. It is often better to hire someone who is local. Someone who knows the local real estate market and rebuilding costs, who understands the community’s resources and how best to take advantage of them. A local PA may also have previous experience working with representatives from major insurance companies in the area and can cut through much of the red tape and red tape to ensure you get what you’re owed more quickly.

How to make sure you hire the right personal assistant?

Again, make sure they are NAPIA members at www.napia.com and have professional designations. Take your time and do several in-person interviews and ask for at least five references for each one. It can be difficult and intimidating, but you should call the references and find out what their situation was. Have your questions ready before you call your references. Are they responsive to your questions and seem genuinely concerned? If you hire a public adjuster, get it in writing and understand their fees before you sign.

How to cure a yeast infection – 4 free tips

Yeast is a condition that is caused by a fungus known as Candida albicans. It can occur naturally on the skin and other parts of the body. When the balance inside the vagina changes, the yeast begins to grow naturally, infecting the vagina. Symptoms of vaginal yeast infection include constant itching and redness of the affected part, white discharge in patches from the vagina and a burning sensation when urinating, and you may also experience pain during sexual intercourse. All these symptoms point to the existence of vaginal yeast infection in your body.

How to cure vaginal yeast naturally:

The best form of treatment for vaginal yeast infection is the use of natural home remedies, which have been proven to cure not only the symptoms of yeast infection but also the root cause, so that the possibility of a recurrence disappears. Natural treatment includes:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar Douche: Vinegar contains acid which is very good at fighting yeast infection. You can apply it directly on the infected part, but remember not to use white vinegar, make sure it is apple cider.

2. Plain Yogurt: Yogurt companies have been telling us to keep eating a lot of yogurt simply because they know that yogurt contains a lot of good bacteria, which are important in treating and curing vaginal infection. For this yogurt treatment you will need a tub of plain unsweetened yogurt and some tampons. Take the tampon and dip it into the yogurt before placing it in the vagina. Yogurt helps restore the balance of good bacteria and also helps soothe the area.

3. Tea tree oil: This oil has a lot of antibacterial. And it has been used for years in the treatment of other ailments as well. You can simply place a small amount of oil in the vagina.

4. Garlic: Contains anti fungal properties. To use it, simply place a clove of garlic in the vagina to combat the fungus or infection.

If after tying all this down and nothing works, see a doctor, maybe your infection is not yeast related.

Putting a Value on Your Personal Injury Claim

Your doctor or chiropractor has released you from treatment for your car accident and enough time has passed for you to be about to sit down with the Henry Hard-Nose adjuster. His employer is Rock Solid Insurance, the company that insures Fred Fuddle, the guy who crashed into your butt, crushing you in a tremendous crash that was responsible for your injuries plus the “Pain and Suffering” you’ve endured.

In order to receive adequate compensation for what you’ve been through, you must have accumulated what is known in the insurance claims world as “special damages.” Those are your medical bills, your lost wages plus every dollar paid to help you with your recovery. When building the value of a personal injury claim, there are several key elements to consider:

LIABILITY: In the vast majority of car accidents it is clear who was at fault. Assuming you’ve been rear-ended badly by Fuddle (rear-end collisions account for more than half of the car accidents that occur in the United States each year), yours is a case that needs to be solved. (Final statistics show that in 83% of the accidents that occurred in 2003 it is clear who was at fault)!

The very dubious liability case has little or no settlement value. If that is the situation, you should get the services of the local Legal Beagle who does a good job at it, Lawyer IM Greedy. But, if he does, be very careful when you sign Greedy’s “Contingency Fee Agreement.” Read it closely. Don’t sign anything that allows them to charge you a penny other than your normal rate. Do not–by no means–let him take any money from you, for his out-of-pocket expenses. All Greedy should be compensated for (if he succeeds in losing any of Rock Solid’s money) is his fee and it should be no more than the generally accepted locally posted percentage of the total recovery.

TYPE OF INJURY: If there are serious injuries (accounting for only ten to fifteen percent of all auto accidents), you should obtain the services of an attorney. But, if you’ve had minor injuries like whiplash, bumps, bruises, sprains and/or strains (and it’s clearly not your fault), you can handle and settle the claim yourself.

KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE: Rate yourself and be brutally honest. You are most likely an average motor vehicle owner/driver leading a normal life. But, if you’ve spent any time behind bars, have a criminal record, or a history of character flaws that often get you into trouble with local law enforcement (and this is well known), you should be aware of those facts. by forming expectations about what your case is worth.

THE KIND OF PERSON FRED FUDDL IS: The better Fred Fuddle looks, or the “entity” (Fuddle’s business or company, etc.) looks, the better for Rock Solid. But, if Fuddle is a known bookie or drug dealer, they’re in deep “stuff.” On the other hand, if Fuddle is a well-liked philanthropist, that may be to Rock Solid Insurance’s advantage. Or if the vehicle that hit him was a van driven by Pastor Frederick Fuddle, and the named insured is The Fuddle Camp For Lost Souls, which may be to Rock Solid’s advantage.

But, if the “entity” that hit him was a dilapidated junk heap on wheels operated by Fred “Goof-Ball” Fuddle, and the named insured is The Fuddle Rotted Cow Manure Corporation, that’s obviously not going to be favorable for Rock Solid.

DAMAGES: There are “special medical damage” expenses, “special non-medical damage” expenses, and/or your “property damage” expenses.

SPECIAL MEDICAL EXPENSES FOR DAMAGE: These typically include the cost of ambulance, emergency room, hospital and/or clinic charges, chiropractor and/or dentist, over-the-counter and/or prescription drugs, laboratory fees and services, Diagnosis: X-rays and CT scans, prosthetic devices or surgical devices (cranes and crutches), physical therapy, registered and/or practical nurse fees, bandages, gauze and adhesive tapes, heating pads, creams, lotions, salves, balms and ointments .

When it comes to listing your “expenses” for special medical damages, don’t overlook a single dollar because, when it comes time to settle your claim, that dollar can increase the value of your “Pain and Suffering” payment by a multiplier. of four. or even five! (Yes, that means a $20.00 bill can be worth $80.00 to $100.00 more, in your pocket, from Rock Solid Insurance, at settlement.)

SPECIAL NON-MEDICAL DAMAGES: Typically include lost wages and income, lost vacation time and/or sick leave, travel expenses (car rental, public transportation, expenses incurred to get to and from your chiropractor and/or hospital and/or physical therapy) treatment” of some kind) Incapacity Home Help and/or Child Care. Be sure to get written proof of such “non-medical” special damages.

LOST WAGES: Lost earnings, because you were unable to work, is an area where adjusters take terrifying advantage of the typical claimant because they know so little about it.

Commissions and overtime can make a big difference in lost revenue. Be sure to get a letter from your employer, on their official letterhead, explaining this in detail. Or, if you’re self-employed, get this information on your accountant’s letterhead.

Time away from work (hence, money you may have lost) is calculated and this item makes up what is known as “Lost Wages” or “Lost Time Verification”. In most situations, you are entitled to compensation for lost time and profit, even if you don’t have an actual loss of money! Like, for example, when your salary is paid for by your employer’s insurance coverage, or by taking sick leave, or some similar arrangement.

Even if you are salaried, you must obtain a written “Loss of Earnings” or “Verification of Lost Time” on your employer’s letterhead.

IF YOU ARE SELF-EMPLOYED: To prove your loss of earnings, you may need to collect inside information for Hard-Nose. If you don’t like the idea of having private documents presented to you, in the privacy of your home or office, just think how you would feel having them presented in the non-private setting of a courtroom. When a case goes to trial, and you want to prove your damages to collect proper compensation, that is your only option.

TWO CRITICAL AREAS REGARDING LOST WAGES: Did the injury necessitate a job change or employment at a slower rate? Or did the injury allow you to go to work but only part-time? If the answer to any of the questions is “Yes,” it would be wise to ask your employer to document these facts on their letterhead.

IT’S CRITICAL THAT YOU KNOW: Even if you’ve been paid while you were out of work, you can still figure time lost from work as “Lost Wages” .

PROPERTY DAMAGE EXPENSES: Generally include motor vehicle repair, damaged clothing, broken glass, replacement car rental cost, towing and storage. Make copies of all bills related to any of your property damage expenses. Keep the originals. Be sure to have these in your possession when you and Hard-Nose dive into “Talking Turkey.” Photocopies are enough to give you.

YOUR AGE: Due to their apparent innocence, insurance claim accident victims, up to the age of 12, generally have excellent settlement results. Those in their late teens and 50s fall into a fairly normal category because they are generally considered to be at the height of their physical stamina. Those over 60 generally do very well; mainly due to the sympathy that is often invoked, from a judge or jury, due to general attitudes towards frailty and the elderly.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER: The information Hard-Nose places in your file plays an important role in the final value of your claim. Never underestimate the importance of their impressions and conclusions! If, one day, your case ends up in front of a judge or jury, what Hard-Nose feels, observes, and then reports in your Rock Solid file about yourself, your insured Fred Fuddle, and/or potential witnesses, etc. , (in addition to the information you’ve documented for him) could have a huge influence on the value of his claim, especially if Fuddle is a loser and dead wrong. At that point, the only thing stopping a deal is the amount of money it will cost to get rid of you.

And, if your file ends up in the hands of Rock Solid Insurance’s local defense attorney, all the positive factors about you, your injury, and liability, will make him gasp: “Hey, what’s going on here? My legal fees will be higher than the hundreds of dollars more you can throw this one away for.”

The bottom line: Your properly recorded and submitted out-of-pocket expenses, properly documented injury information, and clearly stated lost wages will seriously increase the dollar value of your personal injury claim.

UFOs: Listen to the pilots, not the experts

Growing up in a family with a career Air Force officer like your father can be daunting. Lots of kids have to deal with moving from one place to another, basic housing and a hundred other things that will drive you crazy if you let them. I was lucky to have been born late in the life of my parents. When I arrived, my dad had a stable job and was about to retire. We lived on Long Island and I didn’t face many of the challenges that other “military snots” had to face. However, there was an elephant in the room that he couldn’t ignore…

After my father retired from the Air Force, his up-and-go personality immediately pushed him into another job. As vice president of a construction equipment company that sold and rented everything from forklifts to massive tower cranes, he was busy because his company had contracts to supply the equipment needed to build the World’s Fair in New York in the early 1990s. 1960 and the World Trade Center. buildings a little later. Since he had two important jobs in his life, it was not uncommon to find my parents dining with the Kennedy brothers or the Rockefeller heirs at the New York Athletic Club. The downside was that flying saucers were all over the news in the 1950s and 1960s, so my father was constantly faced with questions about them from friends who were sometimes very powerful.

As a child, I was fascinated by flying saucers. Every time he would ask my father about them, he would just say that the government has stated that they are mostly misidentified planes and there is nothing to worry about. That was his standard response to anyone who questioned him on the subject. I would have been fine with that answer, but there was a problem with that. He was being honest when he expressed the government’s position. That’s not to say I didn’t privately disagree with it. We had a constant stream of training and even still active Air Force pilots coming over to the house to barbecue or just hang out with my dad. They did not support the official government position on Unidentified Flying Objects (a term created by the US government).

As an only child, I spent as much time with adults as I did with children. I quickly learned to be quiet and listen. That paid off when the pilots came to our house and the subject of UFOs came up. Almost every pilot had a UFO story. If they plan to share it, they were questioned about the details by others present. These were not casual conversations. Pilots get very technical when it comes to proving or disproving a controversial issue that occurs in flight. It was easy to see that the pilots I heard were not convinced by the government experts who had an explanation for each sighting. They were also certain that this was not something the Russians built and blew up.

Chuck Yeager, the military pilot who first broke the sound barrier in 1947, typifies what I faced as a child from my father and his pilot friends. Yeager was asked if he ever saw a UFO on Twitter. He said, “No. I don’t drink before I fly.” I’m sorry to disagree and I think that statement was an unnecessary insult to credible pilots who have chosen to record their own sightings and encounters. The Twitter response is obviously his public statement. However, I remember very clearly that he said something very different in the 1960s.

When I was a kid, my dad was invited to a cookout at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. I went with him. The keynote speaker was Yeager. After a brief talk about some of his many adventures in the air, he recounted one more that instantly caught the attention of everyone present. Several pilots asked Chuck what he thought about Flying Saucers. He then gave the many pilots and Air Force personnel present a rare opportunity to hear a story he would never share with the general public…

Yeager said that during the test flights of the Bell aircraft that he ultimately used to break the sound barrier, a procedure was put in place. An onboard camera filmed each flight. He and a briefing panel made up of Air Force officers, General Electric civil engineers who built the Bell’s engines, and a doctor then viewed the footage. Then they would discuss the flight. On one occasion he said that a large disc-shaped object appeared on the starboard side of his jet. Then, he almost instantly moved in front of his plane.

The Bell was like a flying bullet. It was not very maneuverable at those speeds. If this object slowed or stopped, Yeager knew it would end up as a bug on the windshield. As that thought passed through his head, the object suddenly vanished. Later, when he went to the interrogation, things were very different from normal. No projector, no screen, no Air Force officers, no civil engineers, and no doctor. Only Yeager and a guy in a suit tried to say that the object was a new secret plane being tested by the military.

Yeager knew all the other test pilots and was sure they would have heard of something as advanced as the object he saw. Then, the man warned him not to talk about the meeting. I have a wonderful memory and I remember him telling that story as if it happened yesterday. And therein lies the problem… Publicly, government experts called these objects swamp gas, known misidentified aircraft, and hallucinations. Publicly, the pilots and other military agree with them or simply do not comment on the issue. In private, it was obviously another story.

My dad danced around this conflict of two truths until he finally told me that some things get categorized for a good reason. Adults, he explained, are sometimes forced to lie to keep people safe. “Insurance?” I thought. About what? Anyway, he said that lying was a bad habit and suggested that I stay away from him. I followed his advice. My classmates were interested in flying saucers because of all the headlines about them in the 1960s. I decided to pick that topic for a feature story I had to do. We all take turns reading our reports to the class. I included Yeager’s story in mine. When I finished you could hear a pin drop across the room.

My teacher loved the report, but wondered if Yeager’s story was true. She called my dad. At the end of the day she was at school with two guys in suits. My report is gone, the teacher never asked me about it again, and my classmates only talked to me about flying saucers at lunch or during recess. I told the truth, but it was not a truth accepted by the government. The good news was that my non-existence report still gave me a 100% rating. I guess it really pays to tell the truth.

The rulers of hockey

The Los Angeles Kings is one of the professional hockey teams in the National Hockey League (NHL). It is one of six expansion teams in 1967. The team was owned by LALakers owner Jack Kent Cooke. He bought the franchise for $2 million. Fans hailing from the northeastern United States and Canada make up the majority of Kings ticket connoisseurs.

The team played at The Forum for its first 32 seasons. Cooke built the Forum to house the Kings of him. The Kings’ tickets were sold to crowds of fans who were accommodated by the newly created castle of the Kings.

The team had a good first two seasons. They placed second in their first season in the West Division. They were only one point behind the Flyers. Tickets for the second season also paid off as the Kings clinched the fourth seed in the West Division. However, the team seemed to meet with misfortune the following years. Those at the top of the team preferred veteran players who, in most cases, are declining in their careers. Because of this, the once-solid support for the Kings waned. Tickets became popular again in 1972 when the team acquired Rogatien Vachon. Kings ticket holders singing Rogie! Rogie! to cheer up your beloved player. The team’s improved defensive plays under Bob Pulford also helped put the Kings back on the pedestal. With Pulford’s guidance, the team experienced three of its best seasons. In 1979, the Kings welcomed Marcel Dione to the team, further strengthening their offense. Between Vachon’s defense and Dione’s offense, Kings’ tackle connoisseurs were rejuvenated.

The Kings saw an improvement in management once Mcnall managed the team. The acquisition of Gretzky led the team to a second-place finish in the Smythe Division in his first season. In the 1990-1991 season, the Kings won their first and only division title. The team was disabled when its main star was injured. Gretzky returned after the first 39 games. They placed third in the Smythe with the help of Luc Robitaille. In 1993, the Kings played for the Stanley Cup. Gretzky and the teams became popular even though they lost the match. After such a game, Kings tickets became a more popular item than ever.

The Kings moved from the Forum in 1999. The team now plays in the modern facilities of the Staples Center.

Hello from Ottawa – Darcy McGee’s on Sparks Street – An Irish Pub with a Bit of History

When traveling to a new place, you can also combine history with a unique dining experience and great food. Literally steps from our temporary home at the Lord Elgin Hotel, we found Darcy McGee’s, which calls itself “Ottawa’s real Irish pub.” Darcy McGee’s is located at the intersection of Sparks and Elgin streets, a stone’s throw from Parliament Hill and all of Ottawa’s main attractions.

In reality, Thomas Darcy McGee was a prominent Ottawa politician and one of the Fathers of the Confederacy. What made him famous were his moving speeches, which helped unite this new fractured country called Canada. On April 7, 1868, he was murdered outside his boarding house in Sparks Street, a few minutes from where the pub now stands.

When we entered the pub it was absolutely packed, every seat was full and the areas in front of the bar were full of people standing around. I found out later that there was a concert scheduled for 8pm with Lyle Lovett at the National Center for the Arts, which is literally across the road from the pub.

We got a comfortable seat in one of the corners of this cozy pub and relaxed after a busy day of skating on the Rideau Canal. Concertgoers started pouring out at 7:45pm and it got a little easier to breathe in this very popular venue.

Skating naturally makes you very hungry, so I had a pick at the fairly reasonably priced menu and one dish in particular caught my eye: a “Melted Stilton Dip,” consisting of Stilton, aged cheddar, and cream cheese mixed with fresh spinach. Served on a rye bun with toasted bagel chips and Granny Smith apple wedges. The taste was actually reminiscent of a creamy blue cheese sauce and I really enjoyed it.

I followed the appetizer with a Mediterranean Tomato Salad of sliced greenhouse tomatoes with goat cheese, red onion, ground black peppercorns and extra virgin olive oil, with a side of garlic bread. Even though Darcy McGee’s has hearty traditional pub grub, I decided to cut back on the calories a bit for the entree.

After dinner I thought I should find out a bit more about the history and unique features of this place and looked up one of the people who run the pub. Jennifer Rafuse is one of the managers and she was kind enough to show me around and give me information about this unique place.

He noted that the pub’s furnishings were designed and built in Ireland and shipped to Canada. In fact, the pub has a unique decor consisting of handmade reddish wood with uniquely decorated glass inserts. The atmosphere is cozy with low lighting and several private seating areas that open onto the main bar area.

There is an area immediately to the left of the entrance that has a large window facing Elgin Street. The view from this window on the northeast side is fantastic: you can see the Parliament buildings, the beautifully lit Chateau Laurier, the National Conference Center and the National Center for the Arts. There really is nothing more central than that.

Jennifer took me to a historical wall exhibit explaining the history of Darcy McGee and showing pictures of his funeral which was attended by 60,000 people. At the time of his death in 1868, it was Victorian practice to create a death mask, an actual cast of the dead person’s head. However, because Darcy was horribly disfigured during the shooting, a cast was made of his hand instead. The cast of his hand is displayed in a glass case just below the historical plaque and I have to admit seeing this guy’s hand cast was a bit creepy.

Jennifer went on to explain that Darcy McGees is a favorite place for politicians who come to cool off after a long day on Parliament Hill. She said the pub used to be a popular gathering place for Liberals, and they are now turning more Conservative since Stephen Harper’s election as prime minister.

He also told me about the Barmaster competition, where bartenders compete in a variety of categories. They are supposed to create Irish “craic” which means a very fun atmosphere. The ability to pour a perfect Guinness, which must always have a shamrock on it, is part of this Barmasters competition.

Naturally, he had to see the technique of pouring a perfect Guinness and putting a shamrock on top. Jennifer was happy to demonstrate: First you pour the beer for about 45 seconds, then let it sit for a while, then fill and swirl the glass to create a perfect cloverleaf-shaped swirl. In total, this process is supposed to take 119.5 seconds. (Time, of course, is not measured by a stopwatch, but by the perfect judgment of an experienced barmaster.)

The atmosphere is enhanced by live music, and Jennifer said that the pub has musicians 3 days a week: Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The music on tap is a mix of Irish and rock music.

Jennifer also mentioned that in April, May, Darcy McGees is opening a patio on Sparks Street where her guests can enjoy food and drinks outside. Sparks Street is famous as one of the most important heritage streets in Ottawa. Nicholas Sparks was one of the Ottawa City Fathers, founding the street in the early 19th century.

Once Ottawa was selected by Queen Victoria as the capital of Canada, this street became a bustling shopping center for the entire Ottawa region. Today Sparks Street is a pedestrian zone so cars are not allowed, allowing visitors to freely enjoy the boutiques, specialty shops, craft retailers and restaurants that do business on Sparks Street. This area is also home to a variety of special events such as the Ottawa International Busker Festival, Tulips on Sparks (held in May), and the International Chicken and Rib Cook-Off pitting chefs from Canada, Australia, and the United States against each other. each.

So Darcy McGees is located right in the heart of historic Ottawa and we got a taste of some of that true Irish hospitality. In anticipation of another busy day on Sunday, we finished our early dinner and walked back to our hotel to notice that the action in Confederation Park was still going on. Now we saw the complete ice sculptures, all illuminated in different colors. From there we went down to the Rideau Canal, where an outdoor concert was in full swing at the American Express Sno-Bowl across from the National Conference Center. Hundreds of people swayed to the music and the historic old railway station was lit up in shades of pink, orange and purple.

This city sure knows how to throw a great party…

What is AshMax?

AshMax is a business opportunity created by Ash Musharef, by combining two other successful multi-level marketing companies in their own right: GDI, a website hosting company, and FTS, a rebate program provider.

GDI and FTS products:

1. GDI (Global Domain International), a domain registration and website hosting company, is a fast growing network marketing company based in California. Today almost everyone needs a website, be it for personal or professional reasons. That fact alone makes this home business idea marketable and attractive.

2. FTS (Freeway to Success), an online home business opportunity that offers discounts to a variety of stores. For example, at $10, FTS offers a $25 gift certificate toward a meal at participating restaurants. With the high price of eating out, everyone is looking for ways to save. Other products include how-to guides, e-books, and kits.

The opportunity:

the compensation plan:

The matrix fills 3,905 people, generating $22,300 each month for the subscriber. Some will say, too good to be true. I understand. I really do, because I said so too. But hello! The investment is ONLY $15 a month, for one of the best businesses from home.

The challenge:

Consider the 20-day challenge this time: Each subscriber has 20 days to sign up 5 new subscribers. He will then retire, earning $22,300 a month. He/she can recruit online or by talking to her/his friends and family. After 20 days, if not successful. He/She is removed from the AshMax database and loses his/her account. One challenge that has arisen with business flow is the ability to sustain the rapid growth of the business. Some technical problems were voiced by subscribers frustrated with the handling of the flow of adherents. AshMax leadership recently promised relief with a general update to their website.

my opinion:

Over the years I have only been involved in a few (3) network marketing companies. I make sure to choose the top of the line. One of my criteria for choosing a network marketing company is: the opportunity can be carried out entirely online. I want to serve a larger market than my friends and family. The AshMax business opportunity fits that mold, making it very attractive. To put my money where my mouth is, I’m taking the 20 day challenge. And I will keep you informed… To follow in 3 weeks.
